Yellowstone (2018)
Good, but
It's a really good show in terms of production and family drama, but scenes of animal abuse are too frequent and banalized.
The Boys (2019)
Good
A good for show, very ironic in a good way.
In my opinion it should not banalize killing any animals, especially endangered species. Nowadays topics like that must be taken very seriously.
Dexter (2006)
About Rita and women characters in the show
Most women characters in the show tend to show superficiality and the common requirement of a masculine figure to be complete. Which is completely inadequate and sexist, to say the least.
Dexter's sister should be a huge character in the show, but most of the time she is simply a mess that requires ANY men with her in order to function properly. How contradictory is this, if at the same time she is a great detective?!
And I had to say this somewhere... Rita's character is the most stupid, annoying, superfluous I have seen quite in a while! Besides being a cute blonde, her contribution to the show is zero.
Thank you for reading this.
A Ghost Story (2017)
Not for everyone - it's a gem for me
This is an introspective and sensitive movie.
The lack of dialogues is meant to give the watcher the ghost perspective - the loneliness, sadness, frustration and longing for her to return. Once he notices that he was maybe not simply attached to the physical house, but most deeply to what it meant to him, he manages to go back to the moment when the paint was still fresh and he is able to retrieve the note. Whatever he read there was enough for him to move on.
Once more: this is a very subtle, sensitive and quiet movie. All is intentional; people can either like or or not, but th movie is really well done and has very nice photography and soundtrack. I loved it.
Lost in Space (2018)
Ugh
One of the worst space shows I have seen so far. All the family drama and superficial storyline make the show about anything else but science.
The lack of creativity in making the robot less earth-like and showing alien landscapes and life forms that are not terrestrial are so predictable...
Plus the too many family hugs in season one... too much melodrama for me.
The Witcher (2019)
Bad in so many ways
Where to start?
1 - "Batmization" of his good-boy's voice (duh)
2 - terrible, terrible acting
3 - poor and superficial storyline
4 - characters are simply shallow and their actions sometimes don't make any sense
Well, 2 months of desperate advertising as an attempt to sell it as a good show - very common when it comes to certain shows that Netflix decides that must be a success no matter how bad they are.
The Keeping Hours (2017)
Predictable and annoying soundtrack
I guess this is a movie that's perfect for families LOL
X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019)
The worst X-men movie ever
Terrible acting, melodramatic scenes, bad photography and ridiculous special effects.
"Sansa Stark" playing Jean Grey has been a disaster! Please send her back to Winterfell.
By far the worst X-Men movie ever...
Kardec (2019)
Terrible acting & other issues.
The lack of naturalist of the acting in this movie is surprising. Although all dialogues take place in Brazilians Portuguese, there are a few ridiculous attempts of intruding a few key french words (like Monsieur, Mademoiselle etc) that end up a disaster. Honestly, it is embarrassing.
How can a director allow actors to keep their regional accents (different ways of Brazilian Portuguese pronunciation) when playing characters from the 19th century?
Photography is a joke... many angles in key scenes seem to be chosen randomly. Soundtrack is predictable and boring, excessively dramatic at the climax.
The storyline, however, is good. It is a shame such an interesting script ends up so poorly executed.
[Rec] 4: Apocalipsis (2014)
Awful
The worst of the series... by far. Terrible acting and lots of yelling.
Mortal Engines (2018)
A no-go
Trivial, predictable, superficial. Terrible editing and many unnecessary scenes. Bad acting in general as well.
The Nun (2018)
Mediocre
Where to start? Superficial plot and characters. Poor acting. Everything looks artificia, including the make up and special effects.
Amateur editing ended up with cuts that make no sense at all.
Insidious can't be consider a "good" movie, but it certainly at least attempts to create an surreal atmosphere which, The Nun seems to completely ignore - given it is just a pasteurized and stupid waste of time.
