Jeremiah (2002–2004)
I really like it
4 November 2004
I saw the first episode of Jeremiah by accident. I was trying to fix my broken down VCR when Jeremiah started screening on TV. I stopped what I was doing to watch what was happening on the TV. I liked what I saw and sat back and watched the first episode. From that moment I was hooked.

I'm a big sci-fi fan and I had no idea that Jeremiah was even a sci-fi show. It's just by luck I caught it on TV that night. Here in South Australia they have only just started screening the first season but I'm glad to see Jeremiah has made it into a second season. I look forward to seeing the rest of the season. I'm not familiar with the original comic book series Jeremiah was supposed to be based on therefore I do compare it to the comic book series. I take it on it's own merits and what I see, I like, enjoy and hope to see more. A good and enjoyable show.

Glad to see Luke Perry has moved beyond Beverly Hills 90210 (a show I only saw once or twice and despised everything about it. I always viewed 90210 as something of a joke)I never liked Luke Perry when he was starring in 90210 but the fact I like him in Jeremiah is testament to his talent. Luke has done well and I enjoy Jeremiah, hope to see it go on for awhile yet.

Voyagers! (1982–1983)
Very fond memories
3 September 2004
I absolutely loved this show when I was a kid. It was one of the highlights of my week and I've never forgotten it. I was an ardent fan and viewer of this show (I was 11 years old at the time) and was so disappointed when it failed to show up on my TV screen. I didn't know at the time that it had been cancelled...all I knew was a show I loved had just disappeared.

I haven't seen this since I was 11 so all my memories of it are from childhood. I would love to see it again. Was it as good as I remember? I figured it most probably was after seeing all the other reviews from viewers who have seen it more recently. It certainly got me interested in history and the past when I was a kid. It was educational as well as being great fun. No other show I remember from childhood taught and entertained the way Voyagers did. There has been so much rubbish pumped out on our TV sets for years and it's sad that fun, educational TV like Voyagers just fall by the wayside. Sadly kids of my generation and kids today just get fed mostly pap. If it sells it's swell..long as a show is making money who cares what kind of rubbish it is...sigh....

I love this movie
28 June 2004
I totally love this movie!! Sure it's got it's faults but I'm just totally in love with it. I will admit on the first viewing of this movie I was disappointed. I expected David, the robot boy to evolve and move beyond his programming. I think I expected David to move beyond the love he felt for his mother.

However on the second viewing I realized the bind that David was in. He had been programmed to love one person and one person only. His mother. His suffering was the result of programming that he had no control over. Does this make his suffering any less real? No, because his creators had designed him this way.

In the opening scenes of A.I the question of responsibility is raised. What right do we have to make a robot who can love if we can't love them back? David loves and he is driven by this love forever. Sadly the person he loves rejects him so David is forever locked to seek for a love he can never have. I can't help but feel for David, sure he may only be the result of what has been programmed into him but regardless of this there is no doubt that he suffers and man created that suffering.

Technology as it stands today does not possess the skills to create a being such as David but if it did this movie raises the question of moral responsibility. If we could create a 'David' what responsibilities do we have towards that creation?

We loved it!
30 May 2004
I've always said "Special effects do not a good movie make" however I'll make an exception concerning 'The Day After Tomorrow'. What did I love about the effects so much? The realism. What unfolded before me on the screen looked so real, felt so real, that I found myself totally drawn in and captivated. I went to see this with my family including my 85 year old Grandmother and we all loved it. We all felt it was the best disaster movie we had seen.

Sure it's full of scientific plot holes but the movie was so captivating that I was able to suspend disbelief. If I had seen this movie on video I would probably feel different. It's the type of movie you have to see on the big screen to appreciate. Just watching New York being flooded and seeing the statue of Liberty as a poignant object in a frozen wasteland is worth the prize of admission.

I also enjoyed the storyline. I felt for the characters and their plight. Get yourself a bucket of popcorn, suspend your disbelief and sit back and enjoy one hell of a ride.

Good fun
18 April 2004
I saw this movie today at a pre-release charity screening. I went on the strength that it was a charity screening with all proceeds going to charity. I wasn't sure whether I wanted to actually see this movie but I'm really glad I did because it was a laugh a minute. I went with my sister and mother and they had a ball.

While Paul Hogan was the main lead in this movie kudos to Michael Caton as the friend who decides to help a mate with his tax problems by pretending to be his gay lover. Michael was truly great in his role. Paul Hogan also does a good job and I'm glad to see him in this wonderful role after having made quite a few flops.

The cinema was packed out at the screening and I heard plenty of laughter during the show. Do yourself a favour and go see this little gem. It's definitely worth the ticket price.

Dark Humour at its best!
8 March 2004
Harvie Krumpet is one excellent story. Very dark at times but also a reflection of life. As Harvie's life unfolds you can't help but think, yep life is like that. It's very funny, very sad and also very true.

My family sat down tonight to watch Harvie on SBS (Australian TV station) and we all fell in love with Harvie. Our ages ranging from 29 through to 85, we all all found something we could relate to in Harvie. Excellent storytelling, plenty of dark humour and a character you can't but help love.

The story and the humanity we see in Harvie is what makes Harvie Crumpet so appealing. There is also excellent Claymation that adds many dimensions to the characters. The expressions upon the characters faces truly add to the story that is being told. Each character is expressive and unforgettable. An excellent example of great story telling.

Go Harvie!!!!

About as exciting as watching paint dry
29 November 2003
I tried to like this movie, I wanted to like this movie but try as I might I just couldn't...because basically it bored me to tears. For those of you who argue that years of fans expectations was what caused crushing disappointment I disagree....No it wasn't disappointed expectations that made me dislike this movie...it was just so boring...

When episode 4 was released I was too young to appreciate it...by the time episode 6 came along I was old enough to enjoy it. I was interested when epidode 1 was on its because Star Wars was something of a legend by this time. I wasn't a huge fan but I remembered the first star wars movies as something fun. I got to see episode one on video and It was really dull. Sure the effects were beautiful and much of it was like a beautifully painted picture..but I didn't want to watch a 2 hour moving painting..because that's what it amounted to basically...the characters were so dull and I didn't give a damn about any of them.

Star Wars episode 4 came on television recently...I decided to watch it...I only had vague memories of it...but I was amazed at how great it was...I loved the characters...even the special effects..outdated as they may be gave me more of a sense of being there, of realism and I cared about the characters in the movie...If the Phantom Menace didn't have the Star Wars legacy behind it I doubt anyone would have given it the time of day.
