American Horror Story: The Future Perfect (2021)
Lazy
The writing is so lazy. If I didn't know better, I'd say they were trying to be a parody of itself. Was this really meant to be taken as horror. Even trying to suspend belief, every premise is ludicrous.
Things Heard & Seen (2021)
Where's the poop emoji.
Absolute meh, at best. Nonsensical at points and, of course, woke in others. And ending makes no sense.
Just remember; men bad, women are there victims.
Beneath Us (2019)
More of the same
The concept was good and very disturbing, but then you realize it the same BS social justice every modern production has become. And if they think their final message is a good one, they are quite mistaken.
Unhinged (2020)
Easy fix
I couldn't help be think that, on multiple occasions, this one could have ended this whole situation: concealed carry!
Anderson Falls (2020)
It's a movie ......that's something
Imagine Ben Stein reading the basic themes from multiple police dramas. When complete, you're told it was a single story and, for some reason, you're supposed to care. But you don't.
The Silence (2019)
Why is this a thing?
The question I have about this concept (similarly to A Quiet Place) is why it becomes an issue? You know what the creatures are attracted to; SOUND! Just make a giant big zapper with a PA system (a wood chipper would work too, obviously). Problem solved!
Roll credits.
The Picture of Dorian Gray (1973)
What an awful adaptation!
Whereas the book is nowhere close to my favorite read, this adaption is a horrendous cheapening of the novel. Not only is it not true to the book, it is a dumbed down interpretation.
Want a closer version, watch Penny Dreadful. Obviously not the story, but the characterization is much closer!
Into the Woods (2014)
Interesting
It was an interesting twist on classic fairy tells.
One "gripe"; if you're going to have an evil witch who used to be a striking beauty, maybe pic someone other then Meryl Streep.
American Horror Story: Chapter 1 (2016)
Location, location, location
This may be petty, but if you're going to center a plot around a very specific location, either film in that location or make an effort to match that location. They did neither!
Roanoke Island, NC is has a distinct topography, environment, and culture. It's an island in the water ways (Croatan and Roanoke Sounds) behind the Outer Banks. It's close to, if not below in places, sea level; i.e. NO MOUNTAINS! It's 3 hours from Raleigh (and that's with a 70 MPH speed nearly the whole way!).
As for the people, there is some "tight knit" folks in the town of Wanchese (southern part of Roanoke Island), but the rest are not bigoted isolationist.
