The Social Dilemma (2020)
It is important to watch
I gave it a full rating just for the sheer importance of it. It should be a social responsibility to watch this.
Devi (1960)
Conclusion was not impactful
Being a Bengali, I had the privilege to read the original story by Prabhat Kumar from which the screenplay was adapted, and the story had a concrete conclusion with a deep impact where Ray finished it with surrealism and abstraction. Mostly he avoided the actual ending to bypass the social stigma which prevailed at that time. Also the story provides a very intimate adoration between the lead couple which was also avoided for probably the same reason.
Apart from that it possesses all the characteristics of Ray's direction with thrilling music, cinematography and screenplay. Definitely a must watch.
Fleabag (2016)
So Well Written
I finished it today and extremely hungover and heartbroken from this. I wish I wouldn't have started it or as I have started, I wished it wouldn't have finished.
It is so well written screenplay. So warm dialogue writing.
They constantly broke the fourth wall. A perfect use of Mcguffin.
Acting, story, editing everything is so top class. And it was so dark a comedy that sometimes it blurred the line between the genres.
It was one of the greatest shows.
Asha Jaoar Majhe (2014)
It moves me. Art is supposed to be like that.
A movie demands a lot from the actors if the entire movie is with two characters and not a single dialogue. Aditya Vikram Sengupta delivers it perfectly as I never really felt that something was to be told at any point. Slow paced screenplay with a similar old kolkata backdrop backed with the brilliant cinematography. It is a must watch.
Gisaengchung (2019)
Amazing Screenplay
Apart from the great cinematography what overwhelmed me about this movie is its screenplay.
The movie follows a continuity of speed and all the way keeps the humour intact. The dark satirical comedy which is funny but after every laugh it also pins a thought about the actual darkness which creates the humour and it lingers for sometime. A movie for all genre lovers.
