Creation (2009)
MIsunderstood & Ignorantly Viewed
Bettanny & Connelly beautifully act out this biopic on Charles Darwin. The movie focuses on Darwin's personal life and how it was effected by his scientific endeavours. I believe many viewers watched this movie with a pessimistic mindset (maybe brought on by their own religious beliefs). Some, I believe, were offended by any mention of evolution. However, this movie does not attempt to argue for or against religion in any way! Instead it centers around the inner battle of a brilliant man, who's ideas were revolutionary and scorned.
The movie gives a unique perspective into the life of Charles Darwin, and allows one to appreciate his works and convictions. This film is definitely worth seeing. The cinematography is well done, it is historically accurate, and the performances are sound.
For one who wants to understand the man behind the theories, it is great! But you must see it, optimistically, as a focus on the MAN and not his theories.
Family Guy (1999)
Boring...
I had enjoyed Family Guy when it first aired. The spontaneous and irrelevant jokes amused me for the first couple seasons; but now it has gotten old. I've actually completely given up watching the show because their arbitrary jokes no longer have any intelligence behind them, and any thread of a plot line has disappeared or become as pathetic as the humour. Family Guy appears to be chasing the absurd and scandalous scenarios. The random, plot line neglecting, jokes have become longer and more frequent. It's sad really...I every now and then catch an episode with the hope that it will return to the intelligent style of humour it bolstered in the first season; however, I don't even laugh! I just stare at the TV thinking, "What the hell?!"
If you still enjoy the random, meaningless jokes you might as well watch a show like ROBOT CHICKEN. Robot Chicken hammers them off one after another and doesn't try to weave in a pathetic plot line.
