All I can say is WOW!
1 March 2010
To think that I always believed Laurence Olivier to be the ideal Maxim. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine anyone topping him. But Jeremy Brett surpassed him far beyond my expectations. He took the role of Maxim and literally made it his own. I've never thought of Jeremy as an actor. I've always seen him as Holmes. This was refreshing and gave me a new perspective on his remarkably diverse talents as a performer. Truly, this film is perfect, absolutely perfect, from beginning to end. Where has it been all my life!? Now to impatiently wait for it to be released on DVD. Unfortunately, that could be another lifetime in and of itself.

Inkheart (2008)

In a word. . .magical!
23 January 2009
Let's face it, it's tough to write a screenplay for a novel as intricately woven as "Inkheart." Some scenes were cut that should have been included and some sections were changed entirely. But isn't it the characters that count? Their development and how true they are to the original work? In that regard, this movie is amazing! Everyone, except for perhaps Basta, was exactly as I pictured, with star performances by the leading cast. Watching Dustfinger blow fire into his fingertips and listening to Mo's voice while he reads treasure from "Arabian Nights?" It sent shivers up my spine to actually be watching one of my favorite books come alive on screen. And honestly, if we don't give this movie a chance than we're squashing any hopes of ever seeing "Inkdeath" on the big screen. Come on people, give "Inkheart" a chance!

Charming and Delightful!
6 February 2004
I have become quite fond of Laurence Olivier in the past few weeks, and was thrilled when I discovered this gem. I have always found it wonderful when I run across a film where I do not have to have my finger on the remote control in case nudity rears its ugly head.

The Divorce of Lady X is charming till the final scene, and must have been a true delight for viewers back in 1938. I only wish people today could accept and love true humor instead of the horrid trash talk people now call funny.

The Divorce of Lady X is well worth anyone's time.

Good King Wenceslas (1994 TV Movie)

An incredible movie!!!

When I saw Good King Wenceslas for the first time at least 8 years ago, I fell head over heels in love with it! The acting and scenery are great. Stephanie Powers was a complete success and Jonathon Brandis was incredible! The sword play is a bit weak, but I love how Wenceslas never kills anyone and how God is clearly on his side. I just wish there was a place to buy the film in the US for I would love to own it!

The Perfect Huck Finn
20 September 2003
Master Wood is the absolutely perfect Huck Finn, just like he's the perfect Frodo Baggins. This was the first movie I had ever seen Elijah in, and he was incredibly talented even when he was 11!

He has such a sweet, innocent, baby face in this movie, and yet, he isn't all that innocent! People fall for his fibs all the time, and it's rather hilarious to see!

Now I know this doesn't sound like it would be appropriate, a 12-year-old who makes a habit out of lying, but he does learn a lesson. The best movies are those that have a moral to them.

This version of Huck Finn reveals his coming to realize that slavery is wrong! He matures in his thinking, and that is a wonderful lesson!

I highly recommend seeing this movie. Now it isn't appropriate for everyone; there are some scenes that could be scary for little kids, but it will be well worth it for older kids! This is one of my favorite movies!

Uplifting and Inspiring!
20 September 2003
Due to the fact this is a true story, these are real people, and this truly did happen, I believe it is a film every Christian needs to see. The acting was utterly heartfelt on the part of everyone, and is a storyline I will never be able to forget. David keeps on with the same message "Jesus loves you", even when he's threatened by thugs and hoodlums, it doesn't change his love for them and his desire to help them. There's no better love then what David Wilkerson shows for these young people, and he brings God's love right to their doorstep when no one else was willing to even try to breach the barrier. I know it may not be everyone's cup of tea, so if you don't like Christians movies, with a Christian message, and Christian actors, don't see it, but for those of you who desire to learn more about faith, the love of God, and where to turn to when things look blackest, then The Cross and the Switchblade is the movie for you.
