Venice (2004)
Must-see for Venice lovers! Must-see for Venice virgins!
Wonderful series which showcases the origins of Venice, it's rise to glory, it's fall, and it's recent recognition of the city as one of the worlds great wonders. Arguably the planets most beautiful city and probably its most unique - this is a great series for those who have never been and the next best thing to being there for those who are lucky enough to have experienced this city like no other.
For me, no other place stirs my soul as Venice does. This series reminded me why I adore her and hope some way can be found for her to continue to thrive for another thousand years, if not forever!
You Can't Take It with You (1938)
Sickly sweet. The precursor to "It's a wonderful life"
Not my cup of tea. Did not like it at all. But it is a well made film with good actors so I give it a 5. Seems to me an obvious precurser to "It's a Wonderful Life" which I love and does a similar job in a much better way in my opinion. Worth watching for historical interest as it won best picture academy award.
Plan 9 from Outer Space (1957)
Definitely NOT the worst film I have seen
Fun film. Far from perfect and the fact that this film was made on a very low budget is obvious. But whilst some of the acting is poor, some is quite good, if not funny - and we all need a good laugh now and then. It's camp and silly and dreadful and hilarious all at the same time. Worth watching to enjoy laughing at the "Amazing" Criswell, the effeminate "Leader" and Eros's epic speech, not to mention Tor Johnson's and Vampira's "Academy Award winning" performances. Watchable and almost enjoyable!
È tornato Sabata... hai chiuso un'altra volta! (1971)
Not great but still OK
Worth seeing if, like me, you like Lee Van Cleef. I found it difficult to understand the plot and who was who. But the costumes are great and the sets look convincing. I really enjoyed "Adios, Sabata" and "Sabata" (in that order) and would have to say this is the least enjoyable of the three. I quite liked the theme music. Worth a look if you like Spaghetti Westerns.
In God We Tru$t (1980)
Tedious unfunny rubbish
Some friends I was with wanted to watch this film so I had to go along with it. It was an hour and a half of my life I will never get back. If you like Marty Feldman and/or religious satires, you might get a few laughs or at least the odd smile. Otherwise forget it. As I watched the film I was trying to decide what year the film was made. I thought it was 1968-69 at first but I settled on 1971-72. So to find it was released in 1980 was a surprise. The film contains just about every D actor I've never heard of and if I laughed twice during the whole thing I will consider myself very fortunate. This is very very close to being the worst film I have ever seen in my life.
