Brothers (2009)
Great movie
"Brothers" not only portrays post-traumatic stress in a striking way but also offers a critical view on the importance of treating mental disorders associated with trauma. The narrative reminds us that ignoring these issues can wreak havoc on the lives of those affected and their families. The performances of the main actors are exceptional, authentically conveying the pain and suffering faced by those battling this disorder. The emotional weight of the film is palpable, taking the viewer on an intense journey through the psychological consequences of the Afghanistan war. It's essential to commend the production's courage in tackling these delicate topics and to highlight the urgent need for support and understanding for those facing these internal battles. "Brothers" serves as a powerful reminder of the lasting impact war can have, not only physically but also emotionally, on its fighters and their families. As a subject of great interest to me, I must say that I greatly enjoyed the film's approach.
Venus (2006)
Touching and quite disturbing...
I believe this is my first review here, usually I only rate the movies, but this one I coundnt go without leaving some thoughts. Peter O Toole is one of my favourite actors of all time and he did never disapointed. Even as an old man facing death so close he can be as emotional and fascinating as he was in Lawrence of Arabia. We seem to thing that as we grow old we kind of are not so entitled to feel lust, love and all the human emotions which is absolute not true. Our body changes thats a fact, this movie is very disturbing at times to me, but it really touched me in a way that no other movie did for a long time.. they were in love emotionally but the 50 years of age gap, made it very difficult to fisically consumate that love... quite disturbing actually.. Peter o Toole, Vanessa Redgrave and Jodie Whittaker were brilliant!!!
Het Meisje en de Dood (2012)
Love story
One of the saddest movies I've ever watched.. but beautiful!! Love story a bit like Anna Karenina! Obsession, drama and impossible love!! Cried a lot with this movie!! I didn't know the actors but I was actually impressed with both "Elisa" and "Nicolai", all characters with a powerful way of expressing themselves even without words! Strong movie even though by the title and even the beginning of the movie already tells you the end of it. I always enjoyed this kind of movies, tragic and obsessed love and if you also are a fan of this kind of films you should definitely watch this one, just prepare some tissues ;))
