Hits My soft spot for low budget films
16 February 2016
Call of the Wild 3D is a modern day story about a city girl (Ariel Gade) from Boston going to visit her grandpa (Christopher Lloyd) in the wilds of Montana. While this isn't going to win any Oscars, for a small budget direct to DVD feature, it's really pretty good fun. The 3D shows off the beautiful scenery and the story, while somewhat predictable, has fun tie ins to Jack London's book, The Call of the Wild through Grandpa reading his granddaughter the story at night. It has a good message, and the acting is really quite good. There are some cheesy parts and some eye roller lines, but the kids thought it was wonderful, and my wife and I found ourselves pleasantly entertained. Christopher Lloyd plays it pretty straight laced in this one, but gives a good performance, and we were impressed with Ariel Gade's performance. It really gave the story credibility.

Overall an enjoyable family movie for the kids with just enough weight to keep mom and dad entertained as well.

Not great, but definitely good
17 July 2004
Went and saw the movie, and while it wasn't a great movie, it was definitely a good one. There was a lot of stuff packed in to a shorter timeframe (and by shorter I mean 2 hours) and so some details I'm sure got washed out, but the plot and the concept and everything was good. A few details I would have really liked to see, but I wont list them yet for those who haven't seen it yet. It's definitely worth seeing, just isn't one you keep going back again and again to. I laughed out loud numerous times, there's some great little jokes and quips, but I felt like there was some very forced humor, and a few of the plot lines were brought out way to obviously.

The graphics were good, and the movie had a few twists you didn't see coming. I give it a 7.5/10. For those of you who enjoyed Minority Report, this movie had much the same feel. Go see it, most people will enjoy it.
