Gatta Kusthi (2022)
Bright start but Disappointing end
The film started off well in the first half which tried to address male chauvinism and patriarchy issues. Comedy worked, acting was better. Nice character portrayal from Karunas and Munishkanth. Vishnu was good and so was Aishwarya Lakshmi. However, the issues they wanted to address is completely taken aback and they stumbled poorly in the second half by going away from the issue it tried to showcase in the beginning. It ends with a poor climax and you get a mindless masala film in the end. I was hoping for a good women oriented script when they started but ended up as a usual movie.
Bright start but poor end.
Bombay Velvet (2015)
Underrated Ranbir Anurag magic!
I am a big fan of Anurag Kashyap as a director but not as a person in his otherwise life. After 7 years, I attempted to see Bombay velvet and wanted to know why people tarnished this film when it released. Even after watching it, I still don't get it why so many people did not like it. I actually loved it to my surprise. It had thrills. Good drama. Ranbir's fab acting and great sets. I really loved the period the film was set in. I didn't find the film boring but engaging throughout. Great attempt by Anurag.
Qarib Qarib Singlle (2017)
Simple tale of love
Good sweet film with an impeccable & effortless performance by Irrfan and equally well performed by Parvathy. This film is a neat example on how to make a film without expletives, nudity and still trying to tell a good story.
Singh Is Bliing (2015)
Singh Is Bliing - Akshay yet again shines as the lovable SARDAR
As we have all come to know what to expect from this kind of a film! Expectations if kept in check, the film can be easily enjoyable. Some films are seen for their sheer story telling, casting, screenplay and of course strong characters. And, the other films are seen only for their Lovableness and their way of providing entertainment. SINGH IS BLIING falls into the latter.
TBH, you can't except a story in such a film. If you go on looking for some in such a film, then you yourself are making a mockery of you. SIB is a fun film to watch whose sole intention is to entertain its audience (read Mass). And, it rightfully succeeds in its job. It has gags coming at a good speed which can be enjoyed by all classes of audiences. The film has its share of concerns but still it never bores you. You are constantly entertained with its jokes and dialogs.
The film's biggest asset is undoubtedly Akshay Kumar. Back with the Sardar getup and he never disappoints. His antics,Goofiness and Comedy-Timings are well known and he lives up-to the hype - Extremely entertaining. Amy Jackson, beautiful and keeps the audiences' engaged with her Action avatar. Lara Dutta, back after a long stint is super energetic on the screen and gives you a hearty laugh with her timing. Dialogues are really good. Cinematography is amazing!(you don't expect in a Comedy film)
Comedy is a serious business as 'making people laugh' is the toughest job and the team SIB succeeds in it. Prabhu Dheva comes back in style.
Note: It's not a sequel to Singh is Kinng but, it is so great to see Akshay back as a Sardar. Entertainment galore. Don't miss!
