Really enjoyed this

Warning: Spoilers
Finally an urban London slasher, but if you're expecting anything like Scream it's very different... More like an art house slasher. So my cousin actually worked as a runner on this film and I've been well informed that it was made in 18 days for less than 100k so not sure where the million pound budget came from.. So with that in mind I was thoroughly impressed to see what was achieved. Now I'm not a fan of the urban genre but this is different, there's 8 lead characters all from different worlds who I found to be anything but stereotypical, e.g. the cops are young and black... The romance between Robert Sheehan and the lead girl is really sweet and while it's true that it is quite music videoish I didn't mind that, I like variety and this is definitely something different. I found myself trying to guess who the killer was throughout, laughed at the psycho character 'Kenny' and his cartman like foul mouthery and jumped a number of times.. The end is a bit cheap but I found out that they skipped 7 pages of the script because they ran out of time... That aside though it's a really good British film which seems to move the urban genre out of it's comfort zone

Drive (I) (2011)
Amazing

This film is like watching a movie inside a video game. The stylish environments and very imaginative yet believable characters makes this a joy from beginning to end. I think the whole concept of having the lead as a Superhero without super powers is really great and the idea that the car being his ability is similar to the Grindhouse feel of Death Proof, but far more stylish and real. Not sure what people wouldn't like about this really other than they may be looking for things to pick at. Mulligan is exceptional although I did find her relationship with the father of her child a bit odd. Small one liners like 'my hands are dirty' 'so are mine' really setup the character relationships fantastically well. The sudden violence is shocking and gratuitous and yet seems to be so important to the overall feel of the film. All in all a winner.
