Shamshera (2022)
Sorry excuse of a movie
Bollywood needs to grow up coz indian audience has. They have access to world cinema sitting at home. The common man isnt engaged by such bs attempts at movies anymore.
Betaal (2020)
Brilliant Spin on the Vikram Betaal folk lore
The series is basically the old folk lore of king vikramaditya and Pisach Betaal in a modern setting which eventually develops into a zombie apocalypse.
Fan (2016)
A good movie by SRK after a long long time
The movie is about an Obsessed fan (Gaurav) who would do to any lengths for his Idol (Aryan) a fictional movie star. The first half zips past thanks to the engrossing screenplay. The characters of both Gaurav and Aryan are well established. Direction of the first half is also very good. This is easily SRKs best acting in recent years. However the movie loses its brilliance from the second half and the curve just keeps on dropping. It is like the first half of movie was written and directed by some other set of people. The second half is a typical masala commercial bollywood movie. Story in second half has many plot holes and logical holes. A middle class guy sells his shop and travels to foreign countries where he successfully traps a huge movie star. The involvement of police in and outside India is just hilarious even considering that his popularity among people is declining. The climax is just way too pathetic and it makes the movie look bad as a whole. On the whole. FAN is a good movie, but definitely not a great one. SRK fans would love the movie, especially the first half.
Phuntroo (2016)
A descent attempt at Sci-fi
The movie revolves around 5 friends in engineering college. The movie Vira (one of the friends) is a supposedly genius computer engineering student who stumbles upon a peculiar gadget designed by one of his professors. A competition called 'Gadget Day' has the students competing for the best new gadgets meanwhile. Anaya is the college's secretary and a gifted mechanical engineering student who Vira and Nano secretly love. When Anaya rejects his proposal, he goes on to improve the gadget he found and creates an Artificially Intelligent Hologram that resembles both in physical form and voice to Anaya. The story then follows the path of utter chaos when his Nano finds out about Vira's intentions and invention. The movie has a descent concept for a plot. But there are many holes in the story and the build up. Not even one single character has been built in detail which makes the story faded. Also, many scenes are abrupt in their built up and transition. The overall acting is good, especially from Ketaki Mategaokar. The visual effect are also pretty descent. All in all with the concept this movie offers, it could have been many times better. Sadly the movie does not live up to its potential mainly due to the horrible story telling and direction. That being said, considering it as first sci-fi movie in Marathi Film Industry with such visuals the movie can be seen once. Acting - 7/10 Direction - 5/10 Screenplay - 4/10 cinematography - 6/10 Music - 7/10
Mumbai Delhi Mumbai (2014)
Copied and degraded version of Original movie
This movie is copied from a Marathi movie named "Mumbai Pune Mumbai". The movie is set in Delhi. A girl from Mumbai visits Delhi to meet (and potentially reject) the guy selected for her by her parents. In the original Marathi movie the guy belongs to Pune city. Even tough this movie has a different city the dialogs are mostly copied and do not aptly denote the charm and flavors of Delhi city and its youth. The acting is descent but in patches. The direction and cinematography is also decently good. It is good that the movie was recreated in Hindi for a larger audience as the Original movie was brilliant. But sadly this movie does not live up to the quality of the original movie.
Natsamrat (2016)
One of the best movie ever created in any language
This movie is an adaptation of a theatrical play by the same name. The play 'Natsamrat' is considered one of the best theatrical play out there in India (at least). The cast in this movie is of the highest order and the movie is as brilliant as the play. The movie is based on the life of an actor who has received the award 'Natsamrat' (King of Actors) after he retires from the Theater. The original play which is in Marathi language is considered the hardest role for an actor to play. Almost all actors who have been playing or had played this role for prolonged time on theater have died or had problems relating to heart. That is how intense and involved the role of the main character in this movie is. This is one of the best movie ever created. Most movies are appreciated by claps, but some rare ones are to be appreciated by eyes. Divine acting by Nana Patekar and Vikarm Gokhale. Must watch. (10+/10)
Katyar Kaljat Ghusali (2015)
No words to describe it. One of the masterpieces ever created
The movie is an adaptation of Marathi play with the same title. The movie is about clash of two clans of singers. Obviously the movie has numerous songs and each one of those songs is brilliant. Splendid singing by few brilliant singers in India viz. Shankar Mahadevan, Rahul Deshpande, Mahesh Kale and Arijit Singh. 'Takyar Kaljat Ghusli' being one of the most epic play in Indian history, I personally was worried about how good they can transform the play into a movie. To my delight and shock it was as brilliant as the epic play and will be considered as one of the greatest works in the industry for centuries. A must watch movie for all the music loving people. The quality, richness, variety and difficulty of singing in the movie is unparalleled.
