Clogwyn (2022)
Despair Disillusionment & Addiction
CLOGWYN (2022) A short film from vecks_gems_productions
George Veck seems to explore the subject of gambling but he is not. What he is doing is showing us the path of one man's destruction & with the ultimate price paid not by his actions but by his
family's survival & the devastation he will ultimately leave behind.
CLOGYN examines the drip feed torture of gambling & the stark reality of a life blighted by addiction & it does not pull any punches. The slow downward spiral aided by those in the same position is all too real. Veck has done a solid piece of work here exploring the subject The cast have dealt with a difficult subject exceptionally well & this short film is well worth watching.
The Letters (2021)
Well cast with all fully embracing their respective roles.
One of the best things about seeing a film before others is that your opinion is not tainted it is your view insight & opinion.
The Letters a film by Robbie Walsh is a poignant reminder that one of the most reliable things the human race does well is fail & pass the buck without compassion or guilt, inspired by true events this is not a film with a sugar coated happy ending that leaves you all fuzzy & warm & allows you to slip back into your life it strikes a cord from the very beginning.
Mary Murray, Sarah Carroll, Kathleen W Yeates are a tour de force with each one bringing strength to their respective roles & ably supported by an exceptionally talented supporting cast. Jimmy played by Paul Ward is the type of person you would take deep sea fishing & forget to bring back, a bonus for the community not so good for the sea life,
There is no doubt that this is well cast with all participating & fully embracing their respective roles & it is human, no air brushing no unnecessary dialogue, camera angles or scenes, every frame has a purpose. It is a well thought out film with no waste of screen time every minute is used to great effect to tell a difficult story with so many levels that takes you through the decline, despair & ultimately the fate of the main characters.
