Dream House (2011)
Great Movie!... Forget The Arty Farty Brigade 8.5/10
I can't give you a synopsis.. because it would kill the film. Do NOT watch the trailers.. it will spoil the film. Its no wonder this is a hidden gem!... and don't think you have the wrong movie when you start watching it. Hang in there through the psychological stuff, its got a massive twist. Brilliant film.. and Daniel Craig is perfect. You really won't expect what happens... but trust me. I'd describe it as a Drama,Mystery,Thriller.. but the beginning will throw you. If you loved 6th Sense .. this is better!! You'll need a cushion and some tissues too! (for your eyes on both accounts) lol. I don't understand why reviewers over analyze a film. A film it made to entertain , as long as it evoke emotions i'm a sucker for them. Enjoy!! I did.
Machine Gun Preacher (2011)
A Film Like No Other, Amazing True Story.
Not Sure If a loose Synopsis counts as a spoiler so i'll tick it anyway..... This Film title hides a very different story, a story about a Gang Biker from the wrong side of the tracks... Sam Childer... boy! this is a story... A TRUE Story.
Sam is released from prison, he returns home to his trailer to find his wife and little girl have found god. For awhile he's mad and drops straight back into his former wild ways. But one day everything changes...i mean ..hmm changes is an understatement..i'm not going to spoil this movie for you, However, this bad ass ends up building his own church & then heads to Africa in Sudan. There,in the war torn African outback, he builds an orphanage. This is a story of two worlds, two contrasting countries, Sam's story and this film show them for what they are and put you right back to where humility grows and materialism becomes shameful. Its a film that will make you think,it'll make you consider god, his concept and why he needs to exist...be it in your head your heart or your soul. It'll make you cry...tears of sadness and tears of joy. When and if you watch this... remember.. this is a true story...clearly not exaggerated, if anything played down...
An amazing story..truly amazing. This film should and will bring compassion into your life if you haven't found it.
10/10 A Must See Movie! - Don't Let The Title Deceive You.
De mayor quiero ser soldado (2010)
A Thought Provoking, Moving Story... That Every Parent Should See
Me, i'm 45.. young for my age in mind yet insightful to life, the universe and anything you may wish to add.
I was pointed in the direction of this movie buy a friend of mine who laid the table with the trailer.. the trailer says deep..heavy..sad, and in parts the film is that... however.. This film isn't about plots or twists or acting, although i thought the parts played by all were believable... I think to some degree we measure believability of the role by how drawn we are into the story and our own experiences of real people and situations... growing up on a council estate say.. as opposed to a largely sheltered "middle class" community, will throw you into situations that others may consider unbelievable but are nonetheless true. This story rings true across many a household... in part. don't try and disassemble this story like many reviewers do, a film is meant to take you on a journey.. a journey of emotions and thoughts, if a film achieves that... then the film is good...regardless of the "holes in plot" etc.. who cares... you see.. a reviewer tends to make the mistake of over analyzing a film rather than remembering its to take the person on the journey i mentioned earlier...if u want a more complete reality.. leave films alone and watch documentaries....
there are no glaringly obvious holes, there is no poor acting or bad scripts..it will touch you, maybe move you.. it drew a tear.. i could relate to things that were unfolding.. in places.. as i'm sure you will when you see it. There is a message in the movie..and to be quite honest its a very poignant message... watch it.. you'll like it, but it has that thing Schindler's List has... where its a good film but it feels wrong saying its good..if you know what i mean. Very worth the watch...ignore the over critical analytical yuppie reviews... its a film... a good film.
