The Shawshank Redemption (1994)

As always with the best. The very best.

It's there to be taken apart. Shot down if you like.

Thankfully there are more honest people giving reviews than not on IMDB.

This stunning film is moving with our emotions without being sickly while telling a beautiful story of friendship.

Set in the 40s through to the 60s in an old prison monolith monstrosity.

A innocent convict builds an unforgettable bond with a fellow institutionalised inmate that has an unforgettable script with a memorable ending.

This film hits the right spot on so many levels for movie lovers.

And that is why it's still the best movie made.

Officially " ever" Number one on IMDB.

So it's a tough titty to the critics and the disingenuous with their pathetic reviews.

Long may it reign.

The Gentlemen (2024)

Utter dross

Seen some utter rubbish from Netflix but this is up there with the worst of all.

I'm convinced Guy Ritchie is now obsessed with gangsters and has zero talent to make anything remotely different or memorable.

The first 2 episodes has you curious but you quickly realise you've seen all the same rubbish before with this mad director.

The acting isn't the most wooden but the storyline is farcical with absolutely nothing believable or even amusing.

All the glorifying of violence is sad and pathetic.

And genuinely not helpful with all the gang culture we are having in this Country at this moment.

It's sick and very lame to be honest.

You will be bored senseless by the 4th episode.

"Dumber than a dog"

"Dumber than a dog " Sadly very true.

How a girl having being subjected to years of rape and abuse couldn't take at least one of the opportunities to escape her violent experience.

Is just too baffling and heartbreaking to believe.

She must have been extremely weak no matter the circumstances.

The film is decent enough in telling the story but the acting is wooden.

If it hadn't been a true story, the film itself wouldn't have held our attention.

No one deserves this kind of punishment in their lives. Absolutely no one.

So I hope Natasha has a long and happy life in what ever she is doing nowadays.

Helter Skelter (1976)

Infamous time crime from August 1969

Well documented account of one of the worst crimes and subsequent trials in the late 60s.

George Di Cenzo was absolutely superb in this movie.

Playing the part of Vincent Bugliosi famous lawyer who helped convict the Manson family murderers in 1971.

Nearly 18months after the crimes were committed.

Not sure if he ever won any award but it would have been completely deserved.

Puts to shame the nonsense Tarantino directed few years ago in "Once upon a time in Hollywood "

This crime and true story will always deserve to have the true account of the slaughter of innocent lives back on August 8/9/10 1969.

Woodstock was a week later.

The Tate/La Bianca murders shocked the world.

And this film does it complete justice thankfully with strong acting from the main characters involved.

First up .Jill halfpenny is an outstanding British actress and she doesn't let you down in this .Truly fantastic acting for me .

It's meant to be a thriller and the suspense is there throughout .

The acting from all the players is totally believable .Yes there are some incredulous moments throughout .And for me it adds to the drama ..

I can't understand why anyone could give this 1 or 2 in their reviews .When you see all the Hollywood nonsense .This is very worth a watch .Unusual story but keeps you hooked from start to finish .

Give this one a watch and watch all 4 episodes .You will be glad you did.

The Following (2013–2015)

Barbaric and intense

No wonder there's shootings ,killings and murders in US on a grand scale .With this sort of vivid barbaric torturing of human beings .It's getting out of control .A good story should be told without all the gratuitous slaughtering of innocent people .It's clearly well acted and dramatic but totally sick in the head .

Good acting and intensity of performance from the full cast make it a worthwhile watch .

Love Kevin Bacon and he never lets you down .Great performance and thankfully he plays a good guy in amongst all these psychopaths .

It's most definitely worth watching if you don't mind people getting burned and stabbed in practically every scene .

Elvis (2022)

No not Tom Parker.

Tom Hanks .Why on earth did he sign up for this one .Absolutely dreadful movie .Nothing authentic whatsoever .They even managed to get rap music into this mess .And Tom Hanks puts in his worst performance ever .Are things so bad for him in Hollywood .Sad if so.

There is nothing breathtaking ,nothing nostalgic ,nothing memorable in this basket case of a film .

The casting was dreadful.

The Kings music lives on..His early and later songs will having music lovers enjoying his iconic style of music for decades to come .

And if you haven't seen King Creole .Watch it .It's superb

This sadly will be forgetting about very quickly .

Girl in the Basement (2021)

Disturbing movie

Have to say .If this is a true story .The mother and other daughter must have been the most weak and pathetic creatures ever to be born .How could they possibly not suspect this deranged manic could not be slightly suspect .It's well acted and very disturbing .Watching the movie probably doesn't give a true picture of how horrific this must have been for this poor girl that suffers so badly .Years go by and none of these people even suspect the creep of a father could possibly have done something to her .Finally after years the other daughter grows a backbone .Truly disturbing and sad experience for this young woman who had her whole life ahead of her.

Plane (2023)

Plane brilliant

Superb from start to finish .Gerrard Butler clearly carries the film but rest of the cast make this a very worthwhile watch .

Good storyline with decent acting throughout .No hammy stuff .Good visuals considering the film was clearly done on a budget .

I never got how not one person never had a mobile phone .So they could call for help but hey ho ,then there would be no drama .

And this movie is full of drama .Fight scenes and filmed well and believable .All the gun scenes and done with realism .The flight scenes are ok but don't deter this one from being completely enjoyable .

Watch it .You will not be sorry you did.

Very good movie .Ignore the negative reviews

Really happy to have seen this one .Sure the acting isn't Oscar winning but it's pretty decent .And the story as we know is a real one .Told very well and providing a timeline of events as we imagine what this frightening scenario would be like in those moments .

Considering the scene is set in an elevator that gets trapped .The cast make this gripping from start to finish .

There's enough time for you to feel and learn something for the individuals as their character flaws under pressure are portrayed under these extreme circumstances .

Based on facts from this very unforgettable day in history .The movie is well worth a watch.

Where the Crawdads Sing (2022)

Truly beautiful and touching movie

Stunning movie acted beautifully .Especially from the super gorgeous Daisy Edgar Jones and handsome Taylor John Smith .Lovely story and nice suspense all the way through the film. Had me hooked from start to finish .Nice scenery throughout .

Not every movie has to be fast paced or have multiple blood curdling killings to make a movie enjoyable ,authentic or even believable.. This pace is perfect for the storyline .Goodness knows what people pass for a good movie giving this one's and twos .Absolutely ridiculous ratings .

Do yourself a favour .Give this a watch and leave some kind reviews .It deserves it .

Watch out for the poignant twist.

The Watcher (2022– )

Ridiculous story eventually

Starts off well in first episode .Nice suspense although quite slow .Yet proceeds to get absolutely farcical .The parents know pretty early, the house they've just moved into is a nightmare. Decide to stay anyway. Couldn't make it up .Then the storyline goes downhill rapidly. Acting is good to be fair from most of the keys actors .Although one or two of the characters seem misplaced somewhat through the story .It eventually gets even more weird by episode 5 .Them your hooked of course .Not because it's good though .By now it's just plain crazy .The PI hired on a small fee has the strangest part of all Almost becoming the narrator of the whole storyline with her investigations .It's just not believable by this time and to be quite honest not deserving of our time .

The people giving this 10/10 must be at it .This movie sums up Charleze Theron .Occasionally she can act, but more often stars in these types of movies .Action movie with pitiful storyline that will make you fall asleep .And I'm being kind .

This movie is mindnumpingly boring from start to finish .

No way is this any more than a 3 in my opinion..Just dreadful .

It's also a big mistake from I MDB that you now have to post minimum 600 characters .It will always result in reviews like my own where you waffle for around 5/10 minutes .Go back to the way it was guys .Too much in a post is not always a good thing .

Monster (2022–2024)

Outstanding acting

Whatever the wrongs and rights about this film being put out there .It's a compelling watch and incredibly well acted .From start to finish, it tells the true story of a madman .Surely one of the most vile men ever to have been born and left to commit his reign of terror .Thankfully some kind of justice was served on him in jail .Electric chair or something more inhuman would have been more fitting for this monster .The heinous crimes did happen though and deserves to be told in my opinion .And a story like this,is only valid if it's told with accuracy .For example " Once in a lifetime in Hollywood " is just a silly film for me and makes a mockery of the Tate killings .This sticks to much of what happened and that's what makes it compelling viewing.

Nazi Concentration Camps (1945)

Extremely heartbreaking viewing

We all know it happened but this original footage shows many of the Nazis crimes in all its detail .Heartbreaking to see such evil cruelty given to fellow human beings .Despicable that justice was never served on these hideous people perpetrating these crimes .Less than a hundred war criminals got sentences .What happened to the rest .It makes you angry thinking about it.

God knows how the managed to evade justice, for what was the worst crimes in human history.

Worth watching if you feel you need to see the evidence with your own eyes. Be warned though .It is very disturbing viewing.

Would be interesting to see what would happened to these people if it had been in 21st Century.

The Gray Man (2022)

Disappointing

Great cast but silly storyline .Fit for a teenager .Far fetched nonsense from start to finish .No depth to the characters and I include Ryan Goslings part playing Six .The movie becomes boring pretty quickly and moves to an utterly ridiculous climax .I don't believe the people giving this 8 to 10 can have seen a good worthwhile movie in their lives.

Really poor acting from Erin moriarty. Can't act for peanuts .How did she make it .Unconvincing from start to finish .Terrible casting.

I wanted to love Mel,but he was really bad in this movie .Back to his acting in the 90s .Hammy and full of over acting .The storyline was just dumb,boring and predictable .How anyone can give this more than 5 astounds me .

Is there a more corrupt City in US ? Spotlight ? Thought the movie was superb .Great acting and based on true story .I don't understand the over analytical nit pickers .My best Depp movie ever .That isn't high praise though .Only that I've always thought his acting was unconvincing, Jack Sparrow and one of the worst films ever as an example .

Being based on a true story .I thought this was a .decent portrayal of events with some good acting throughout .It most definitely made you watch from start to finish .Jake Mcdorman seemed well cast in the role of killer Philip Markoff .And some nice acting from Agnes Brukner has his fiancé Megan McAllister.

Worth a watch.

The Mystery of Marilyn Monroe: The Unheard Tapes (2022)

Beautifully made documentary,about one of Cinemas best all time legends .Marilyn died in 1962 .It stands to reason ,any kind of story and details have been covered at some point .This is very well put together and well worth 10 stars from me. Kept me interested from start to finish .And it reminds us ,how beautiful a woman she was.

The usual stuff but the whole movie is just indulgent crap .The acting is just hammy from start to finish .And I include the now deceased 007 .The old names Spectre ,the old characters Q .Just boring to be honest .The last 2 Bond movies have been super to very good .This is just a disaster .

Worthwhile 2 part account .Anyone saying different may have something to hide themselves ? Oh yeah However this cover up on its own, should have had the BBC closed down .Even now the same ex and present employees, of this corrupt institution make excuses and don't except any responsibility. A bit like another footballing institution in Glasgow .Power can be the perfect camouflage for the most heinous crimes.

I will never understand what people expect from movies. When this beautiful film is made to touch anyone that has a heart and soul .Just perfect acting .Had me in tears .No I'm not a church goer or a bible basher .Just believe in good and my experience of life tells me that this message is good for us all .Keep the faith as God does indeed answer your prayers .. And watch this film, to the end with an open mind .

Can't believe the negative reviews .Do people actually watch a movie nowadays .Great acting and good storyline .Little Grace Jenkins was superb as Trixie van Allen ,Ben Affleck was his usual convincing self and Ana de Armus was outstanding .It also has to be said .This lady is beyond beautiful from her pretty feet to her beautiful face .Simply stunning actress .
