Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
God that was awful.
What an absolute waste of characters and actors. The story was, well whatever. The humour fell flat and I mean FLAT , it was what you'd expect from a 12 year old (no offence to 12 yr olds) there was literally groaning from the audience. Every character except maybe Portman's was horrendous. The God Butcher was about as worrisome as a stone in your shoe, an incredible waste of Bale. Crowe and that whole scenario was simply pathetic , what they did to Sif was a slap in the face, Portman did a decent job.
That's me done with Marvel/Disney now. I haven't watched anything they produced since Endgame and I wanted to see this as it's basically closes Thor's arc. Seen and done, Marvel/Disney won't get another penny of my hard earned cash.
The Beatles: Get Back (2021)
From a fellow Liverpudlian
I was born and bred on the fab four and spent my latter teenage years dancing the nights away in the Cavern and a multitude of other watering holes that are mentioned in the plethora of Beatles tracks. I'm not an expert just a minor fan that enjoyed the music they created.
This series is a mixed bag for me. It is as overly long as it is fascinating to watch and Its such a shame to already know the outcome but the story is what it is and history cannot unfortunately be changed.
I won't bore you repeating what can be read above or below I will just say 'give this a try'. It may take a few nights or a few attempts but it is worth the investment as it shines a torch not only on the fab four themselves but on the creation of a song.
If I was given a wish other than for Yoko to have stayed in Japan she was the crowbar that helped lever them apart, then I'd love for the 4 to have continued creating music as a group, however, the 'bittersweet' is we cherish their creations even more.
Reacher (2022)
A lot better than I expected.
It's a decent start to what could be a great series
HOWEVER, it was overly long and in some episodes I was close to turning off because I could tell it was simply filler.
With that said... If they instead produced 2 stories per 8 episode season (so 4 episode per story/2 stories per season) I think it would create a much better flow and encourage more people to watch.
Right now it's too long for the included content.
The Last Duel (2021)
You are being lied to.
Nice scenery, terrible film.
As with a lot of things today 'optics' are more important than truth and here we have a perfect example of that in its entirety.
The story is overly long and despite the brutality in some of the latter scenes - vecomes boringly tedious.
The acting from Damon and Affleck is their trademark awful, stiff, wooden attempt at play whilst the other actors battle to make something out of nothing.
The scenery is what you should expect given the stories historical setting.
The story is relatively boring despite the core subject matter and none of the talented supported cast manage to hold your attention except for maybe the last few minutes of each person's version of events and the final few minutes of the film. However, this is because you have been bored stiff by the rest of the film and so ANY divergence is welcome.
Whilst some of the blame lays at the feet of Damon/Afflecks wooden acting the major is the responsibility of Scott who should by now have been taken out to the stables and shot. The man simply destroys everything he touches of late and should be encouraged to take up knitting or stamp collecting, anything that keeps him from behind the camera.
Halloween Kills (2021)
The one that got away
In all honesty I thought it was a bit 'meh'. The acting was terrible in the 70s hook back. The leading cast weren't much better and was that supposed to be 'The Shape' or Wolverine?? Without the jumping and Bone Claws obviously.
The story is incoherent to the point you seem to be watching a flicker book in movie format. The dialogue is just as bad, I wouldn't be surprised if they were just pulling scenes from a hat.
Hopefully ENDS will be better.
