Keep watching until the finale
30 January 2023
A lot of easter eggs were thrown in the last episodes. In addition to interesting old characters per episode. Very entertaining watch if you can manage to watch the whole season in a go.

The serious poking on a group of sad men hiding behind troll accounts may irk many viewers, but that's another story.

Tatiana Maslany is already an established actress with her Orphan Black experience under the belt before joining the MCU. Other casts were terrific as well, especially her colleagues. Even the villains were funny to see (loved Jameela Jamil as Titania).

A comedy drama superhero series is definitely worth exploring, Marvel did a good gamble by producing this one.

A worthwhile sequel
22 November 2022
What makes it worthwhile was the villain MCU chose for Wakandans. A nemesis who garnered a substantial sympathy for his cause in waging war on the world.

Another good thing is by avoiding the trailers & spoilers, I really didn't see a new character coming to challenge Black Panther.

Too many plot lines? Really? They were just about the right amount, and the director was weaving all the plots into one great story as expected from any MCU movie.

I won't say much about the plot, besides, the actions were great, some choices seemed obviously dumb, but a fun kind of dumbness.

Overall, it's a great mourning movie for reminiscing the late Chadwick Boseman.

A very grounded and easy to relate batman, cat woman, and penguin in real life world.

Warning: Spoilers
A traumatic boy trying to cope by being a vigilante.

A foster child that becomes a street-smart opportunistic on-the-edge character.

A criminal mop-boy that does what the investor bid him to do.

They all are very relatable. Just like Joaquin's Joker.

The winner in this version is the Riddler.

Paul Dano really played to his strength, the psychopathic serial murderer that left his digital manifesto in a warped-city of Gotham dwellers.

It's a truly comic book movie turned right.

Never a boring moment.

You can watch it on HBO Max
29 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
But I preferred to watch it in my local theatre.

Several points that I found annoying:

  • Jessica Henwick's breathy way to speak her character's dialogues was frustrating, it was barely intelligible and she did it a lot. Had to muster some extra focus just to keep at pace with her words.

  • Keanu was basically John Wick being lost in the Matrix. He was only Neo when he's bald or in the "real world".

  • The fights...... so boring. Neo, didn't perform. Only having some sort of energy field around him. C'mon Wachowski... give him some more credits. Even Smith seemed interesting, heck even Dougie Howser was stealing some Quicksilver ability and made his character looked interesting.

Some points that I liked:

  • The story. If WB wants another Matrix movie, it's better handled by The Wachowskis.

  • Trinity. And her connection with Neo.

  • Dougie Howser, and his cat.

Finally, a superhero movie with decent drama
4 December 2021
Great scenery, huge amount of HEAVY & DEEP emotions, the first one in MCU after Iron Man's death. Not even Black Widow's death was processed this long.

But it was a nice change of pace. I'd want to see a sequel.

It's a good movie
9 November 2021
Been years since watching a worthwhile colossal action movie. This one, with great casts and background setting, along with careful storytelling, showed Ridley Scott's masterful directing skill is still top notch.

Love seeing Jodie's portrayal in three different versions. She's a very capable actress, no less than the experienced casts that shared scenes with her.

Definitely will recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys quality movies.

Meh.
2 August 2021
I like the movie theme, but despite the magnificent ensemble of casts, and inspiration from true events, I totally didn't vibe with the direction.

The scoring, editing, and directing edging on meh. A disappointment if you pay to watch it on cinemas, but fine to watch it on Netflix or other streaming service.

Another fun movie from GR
2 July 2021
Love Hugh Grant's impersonation of Ricky Gervais for his character. Will defo rewatch just for that.

Also Charlie Hunnam's performance here redeemed his King Arthur's boring character. Other actors/actresses obviously are brilliant, incl Henry Golding's. But the best of all is the directing, editing, scoring- the masterful combination of all details that made the movie flows flawless visual entertainment.

Not a boring moment.

Maybe it's time to properly remake this one..
2 July 2021
Watched this in 2010, before I had even watched the original series. Was a fan of the director, so I thought it was okayish. FF last month I finished the entire series and I rewatched this movie today... Phew, now I understand the disappointment that all of the fans of the original series had.

Can only say the director really took great care of the CGI and background settings, but completely butchered the story and the casts-which actually is the heart of any movie/show.

Quite good except for the scoring
9 February 2021
Hard to suspend my disbelief enjoying the flow of this show with scoring that reminds me of a cheesy drama radio.

Too showy-better watch something like peaky blinders which has the same '30s setting but with better scoring.

Best Show from Ricky et al
19 December 2020
Just finished 2nd season.

Everything in this show is perfect.

Having watched most of his shows prior years, didn't expect to get something this wonderful.

The dialogue, acting, directing, ost, editing, and flow of story-with some overwhelming comedy that's a trademark of his-deliciously concocted.

For people who've been disconnected and depressed due to this year's event (thanks COVID), this is just a perfect show to watch.

Great show for science dreamers
3 October 2020
From episode 5 I started to feel the quality starkly improving, and in episode 8 I was blown away by the dialogue (it has been great, but all the dialogues from a side character such as Kwesi's dad to one of the main characters like Lu was extremely well written, and well performed). I love the directing, the pacing, the acting, flow of editing, every part was great.

For people who plan to have a kid, I love how the working parents in this show share their responsibility, this is very ideal if money is not an issue.

But other than that, for the love of science fictions, this is one great escapade to binge in the weekend.

I don't know why I wasn't really impressed with the first season, but the character developments, directing, story line, comedy, and plot twists in the second season really made me fell in love with this show.

great job everyone, i will definitely watch it again.
3 July 2019
Came to watch this movie with very low expectations because i heard nothing but criticism from the reviewers and audience around me. but i got them to thank because those reviews help to make my movie-watching experience immensely satisfying.

first thing i noticed that perked my interest was the director. i didn't know guy ritchie was directing.

secondly, the casts, they are all adorably amazing. i can't help to fall in LIKE with will smith over and over again. his performance kept reminding me how good he was as an actor. but yeah, guy ritchie definitely the right guy to helm this movie, disney again has made a great business choice.

thirdly, the plot, editing, scoring, art directing, cgi, dialogiue, acting, dancing and singing... all are sweet and not a boring moment.

Mind blown experience. Love it :)
14 December 2017
This is the first Star Wars movie experience that I truly feel satisfied. If you love vivid stories of hope and faith (may the force be with you), then this is the right movie for you.

The slow build up may be making some of the younger viewers itching in their seats, but hey, just after the trademarked prologue rolled away, I was instantly hooked.

The story flows amazingly, like a wild river it took you to turns and corners that you didn't expect. Just when you think you'd guess where it will turn, it suddenly took a different path. And the way the director gave the viewers so many chances to interpret how the story goes themselves, it was just totally brilliant. No mansplaining necessary.

It's like watching Final Fantasy and animes in a Star Wars package. Beautifully presented I must say.

And yeah I will watch this one again and again, no boring scene at all. All the main casts and supporting casts were utilised harmoniously. 10/10

This serial is as good as GOT, The OA, or Stranger Things.
14 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Didn't expect much at first sight, but of course I was BLOWN AWAY! The directing and editing and scoring are EXCELLENT. The plot and flow of the movie is IMPECCABLE.

I have not yet read the book, but having faith with Gaiman's old works was enough for me to guarantee the quality of the story, and apparently I receive more in return because the production actually yield very ENTERTAINING, MOVING, and GRIPPING episodes.

The casts are PERFECT, I love Laura mostly, then every other characters starting from Ostara, Media, Shadow, Wednesday, Mr World, Anubis, Jackal, Bilqis, to the other whole ensemble of characters. The CGIs are better than some blockbuster flicks in the cinemas that you could appreciate the dedication that this production team aspired to create.

Update season 3:

Though no Sweeney here, and a bit dragging on most episodes, always love Laura's and Bilquis' appearance.. even Techno-boy starting to grow on me.

And much appreciation that they keep the shows' theme so artsy, absurd, and surreal. One of the best shows I can hope for. Can't wait to see season 4... hopefully Amazon can keep this show until its final season.

Trust the Unknown
19 January 2017
A beautiful series that is a very goddamn treat for those who are spiritually high or just intrinsically curious.

I trust Brit Marling's movies to be spiritual driven, starting from her sci-fi Another Earth, The East, and the last one I watched was Eye Origin. She's a great writer and actress.

So when I knew she has this OA, I dived right through and enjoyed it every bit.

The story motto is so simple yet true to its mission, "Trust the Unknown". And that is what the series trying to do in every episode they run.

And people were like cursing the ending. Really? Would it be that obvious? Trust the unknown guys, or maybe grab an easier TV series.

It gets better
24 September 2016
You watched it at first and shocked your pants because who would be entertained watching 2 above adult women making jokes as if they were 14 year old teenagers?

But then after a glass or two, and the tipsy kicks in, that is where this movie starts hitting the marks.

I can laugh my arse off watching these two hysterical comedians dancing their way off their double 21 party.

The whole story is no brainer, but the feel good is enough for those reminiscing souls needing a good laugh and a good drink.

Watch it when you really need something entertaining. Girls only.

Warning: Spoilers
It's been a long time since X-Files and The Fringe have I watched and binged TV serial just for the sake of the chemistry between the main characters.

So when I found this serial, the first season I watched it due to the acclaimed Emmy nominations. But then I fell into the rabbit hole, it is just too good to be true.

The execution, especially for the first 2 seasons, is worth me buying the Bluray alone. Then the next 3-4 season, they are essential, because they successfully made me feel so invested in the interaction between Linden-Holder.

I came for a great detective mystery, I get so much in return. The casts. The directing. Scoring. DOP. And ending.

Netflix wrapped it up lovely. Thank you!

I was instantly hooked and I can say it was very worth it
13 September 2016
I've never thought I'd find a very well written and directed anime based manga, but hey if I did, this is the one.

Every scene that is presented since the beginning of the season, every sequence that follows, the scoring, the characters, the pace, the editing... phew. I am honestly very happy having watched all of it in one binging day. Because it surpasses way over my expectation.

The last anime I loved was shingeki no kyojin.

This one way past it. I was instantly hooked and I can say it was very worth it.

I love the story and how the anime is presented.

Bravo!

Thanks bad reviewers, I got to actually enjoy this movie.
30 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I watched this movie with low expectation. And the first ten minutes did confirm the bad reviews I read beforehand. But starting when Vin Diesel investigated his friends' office, the pacing of the movie got very enjoyable.

I didn't think much about the lack of originality or the mishmash thrown around the entire festive (as other reviewers pointed out), it was designed to collaborate anyway.

I enjoyed the casts very much, especially Rose Leslie as the good witch. Been fangirl-ing her since the GoT series. Despite the awkward chemistry between her and Vin -- honestly Vin looked like a pervert bodyguard during the "I-heart-you" scene -- the duo played professionally well.

So... if you're interested to see this movie, just lower your expectation, and enjoy the ride.

If you go in a cinema just to nitpick, what a waste of money. Unless you're being paid to nitpick, I'd say thanks again.

Didn't expect would be so good.
11 April 2015
Watched it last night. At first, I thought it would be another colossal Korean movie, but after a few minutes, I was intrinsically interested with the directing, editing, scoring, and how the story evolving.

The characters, all have their magnetic personalities that trapped me into liking almost each of them. Especially the little girl, her acting is impressive. And the king, don't let me start. Even the antagonistic Queen.. she's magnetically impressive as well.

Heck, even the quiet killer, and the clash with his old buddy, seemed interwoven sweetly.

I have been a kung-fu movie fan since decades ago, but I must say, this one Korean movie is a great masterpiece that I have never seen before during my fan-girling all Chinese, Hongkong, or Japanese movies.

OK, except for HERO. I think they almost have the same depth of quality.

Utterly recommended.

Does this movie really deserve a 28% in ROTTEN****S??
14 March 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Saw the review of this movie a few days ago, brutally scored in Rottentoma***s for 28%. I used to rely on their rate-o-metre for any movie in the past, but when I read their meta-critics, somehow deep inside I know I didn't agree. So after watching the movie this morning with hub, I must say I'm glad I listened to my gut. The hell with the so called expert critics, a good movie is always a good movie.

So the story revolves somewhere in Johannesburg again. Nostalgic of the District 9 scouting ground. What really made this movie alive are not Dev Patel or Hugh Jackman, or even Sigourney Weaver, nu-uh, just the 2 new comers : Ninja and Yolandi Visser -- and of course America and the good ole Sharlto Copley (personally, this guy is an awesome actor).

The story is simple yet it has the vibrant entertaining spirit that is so thick of Blomkamp's style. Very reminiscent of District 9. The gore, meshed up scene by scene that were interwoven melodiously, it was a full-on entertaining piece.

(And to read how most "movie-experts" were jumbled by the story I could just feel sorry that they didn't get the entertaining piece except by tearing apart a good movie.)

Earlier scenes were somewhat paced by boring introduction of the weapon company, and we hit the boredom button at its peak when focusing to Dev Patel's character and his rivalry with Hugh Jackman.

Jump to next scene where Yolandi, Ninja, and America were busy dealing with the mob boss and we were transported to the real deal.

Their silly ideas and what follows to the abduction of Patel and Chappie were the ones that made the movie starting to flow non-stop to a next-level ending.

A creation who creates his creator and transfer consciousness from one medium to another?

And making so in a OH SO ELOQUENT movie? Does this movie really deserve a 28% in ROTTEN****S??

I don't think so.

This is a very good movie, been long since I found an interesting movie these days. Way better than the ordinary common Hollywood pieces... oh wait, those stuff that most critics adored, no? Just saying.

Personally, i love this movie.
21 December 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I just watched this movie after having it on the watch list for a couple of months. Been wanting to know what interests me in the first place ever since I watched the trailer.

Was it the quirky idea of cute little trolls hiding in a box? Or was it the idea of trolls afraid of humans and only came out during the evening? Or simply because the animation, and because the movie-trailer editing was fascinating? Ah, I'm quite certain that mostly because the casts are those bunch of creative artists whose previous works I deeply adored.

The first thing that I found extremely different was the dialog. Then the characters. I am smitten with the Winnifred character, so ironically adorable. Then the comedy. (Oh how I love the idea of a "wealthy girl in danger" -- such cynical dark humor. Not everybody's cup of tea, obviously, but it definitely suits mine.) Lastly, the moral of this story. (This is actually the most significant part of this movie that made me infatuated. So much reminders delivered by the movie makers to adults and teenagers with a flair of hilarity and flawless depth -- actually, scratch that, there's a lot of flaws in this movie but the flaws what made this movie having so much to enjoy about.) And lastly, it has a touch of philosophical end. (with an exquisite mention of the meta- related worlds).

Not a BOOMbastic twist
5 April 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Watched the movie a coupla hours ago, was dissatisfied due to the end of credits scene (after the twin scene) was totally not worth the wait. Just watch it on youtube.

The Captain was as handsome as usual. Chris Evans is such a purrfect cast. The whole story though, a bit of a drag. No surprise factor except a spectacular action-vaganza.

Expect to be very entertained for the fast moving vehicles, fighting moves whether on the ground or in the sky, and waiting for the bomb to not explode.

The characters who made me interested are the Winter Soldier and Falcon. Other characters, are simply garnishes. Not really meaningful, especially that female Shield agent played by Colbie Smoulder. Why is she so underused? Her appearance is never as funny as Coulson, and yet she portrays an important position. Only made an appearance not as much as the total of my fingers.

The twist was ... a big spoiler if I say it here, but it was not a BOOMbastic twist. Not a breeze of fresh air at all. As a matter of fact, it was an old story made into the play. And this made the story goes stale.

But my crappy critic is nothing compared to the entertaining visual effects, acting, and flow of the movie that I am willing to give it an 8/10.
