Alien Trespass (2009)
Purposely Awful?
Contrary to another reviewer who loved this movie and gave it 9 out of 10 stars, I give this movie 2 out of 10 stars. Oh where to begin?! the acting is subpar.. sometimes it can be decent for the characters to be in 1957, and other times it misses the mark completely.
Another thing I dislike about the movie is the inconsistencies and historical errors - such as segregation in the 1950's, speech types "Chill out; Bite me" and other inaccuracies. Specifically also Tammy's short speech about "how dare you hunt something, there's plenty of meat in the market!" This attitude didn't exist back then and is a blatant vegan 2009 affront.
Special effects are laughable. While some 1950's items and materials are well preserved and kept, I literally laughed out loud at a very badly done green screen with the star attempting to walk down a dusty highway and the costar drive next to him and stop her car. Very obvious, noticeable mismatch of timings between the car, the background, and the actor limping gait instead of walking. This might have been better done if only in black and white.
Plot is mainly nonsensical, but again, I think the movie was aiming to be a 50's scifi movie, so that's passable. It would have been nice to see a purposeful GOOD 50's movie done though, and do it right rather than slacking off.
Star Trek: Voyager: The Void (2001)
This episode based on Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force for PC
This episode is directly related / based on the story events of the PC game "Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force". The events are for the most part mirrored with the exception of in-depth game details. Great story, and fun to play!
In the episode, Voyager is attacked by a graviton pulse that transports them inside a void area of space where they cannot escape on their own power without an energy dampening field that is constantly draining the ships warp drive resources. They must band together with other, friendly and hostile, forces in order to escape.
Whereas in the game, Voyager is attacked by a probe that, upon destruction by Voyager in efforts simply to defend themselves, it emits a field that transfers Voyager and it's crew to an area of space that has a space station with an energy dampening field that drains ships of their warp energy, preventing their escape. Many other types of ships are in this area, including TOS mirror generation Enterprise ship(s?), Klingons, Borg and 8472.
In the episode, unlike the game, there is no Elite Force tactical squad (aww!!) and no final end boss. ;)
ALF's Hit Talk Show (2004)
Cancelled perhaps?
The only two episodes I have seen were late last year. The last one had a apparently drunk off his butt Merv Griffin, who I'm sure, after the airing of the episode, did everything in his power to shelve the series. (and who wouldn't want to protect themselves?) Alas, Paul Fusco, we wished you well, but it apparently is not to be? Have not heard hide nor hair of ALF's hit talk show since then. Ed McMahon as the sidekick? He even stated himself in the opening scenes "Why am I doing this?" Why indeed... If they want to try again with the talk show, make it less boring (the part with Merv was HIDEOUS), because while they go and try to make it at the same time appealing to kids (cat puppets being interviewed at the beginning of the first show) .. and yet have a host/interviewee type show, leaves children bored and adults very confused! I like ALF, I liked the old series, but not this talk show one.
Quantum Leap (1989)
Interesting theory, ruined by Liberalism
I agree, this show was brilliant in that Sam went and helped people to continue on to what he would hopefully be his own body and home. I think the absolutely worst thing that this show endured was the liberalist crap that was forcefed to us through viewpoints that a lot of people don't agree with. The last season also seemed to run out of ideas and just plug into the mainstream movie thoughts, hence Oswald, Marylin Monroe, etc etc. When they stuck to their own ideas they had GREAT shows, such as going into the assistant of the TV show where Sam got his ideas for time travel.
If it were to come back as a new series I know they could and should do it better. I was first intrigued by the technology, and the humor kept in tandem with Al, Ziggy and Sam was good. I don't think you can blame the actors for what is written : they're doing (I should hope!) their job as directed.
