excellent.a season 2 please.
17 January 2024
What a beautiful series this is considering it recalls such a dreadful real life event that destroyed a community. Sometimes the pure pace of a show draws you in and makes you feel like you are involved. Every part of this is just so perfectly put together.......... From the cast to the script,,,the wardrobe, cinematography are just wonderful. The music that some of us grew up with just sits right, and the score is really spot on. .......I do so hope the creators of this can follow through with many series of real life events, a bit like Fargo. Sooooooo good. MORE MORE MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hunt for a killer, I'll say it again
16 April 2023
Mmmmmm...The review with 'boring boring boring' as the header is the key to why you should watch this. He/She don't get it,Never lived amongst the rocks. Praise be. Lets talk Rolf Lassgård. That frame, the look over the shoulder with a rye almost desperate glance. The whispering voice that booms. The cheek of him to be so good. It's almost annoying. Lets talk about the overall brilliance of the casting. The Pernill family in real life, as Mother and two daughters playing Mother and two daughters in the show. It's genius, and it works. Like that wasn't interesting enough lets talk about Sven Boräng who plays a younger Rolf Lassgård. What a fantastic example of an actor totally owning his craft. He must of spent hours on end shadowing Lassgård's every move and nuance because he nailed it to the point you are watching Rolf. Wonderful work. Now I can talk about the music, because it is music and not soundscaping. Yuk. I work as a composer often with nordic noir. I put myself forward for this show when I first got wind of it's pre production. When I was told Mattias Bärjed was on it, I was so happy. Perfect. So great to hear the feel of the water, the rocks, the time frame. Odd, catchy and totally appropriate. But then he was in a great band and, moreover he composed for 'Hunt for a Killer'. I reviewed it a couple of years back and said it was a game changer for nordic noir. I am British but have spent many many years in Finland,Sweden, Norway. Folk who find a lot of these series 'slow/long winded' need to spend serious time in these places to understand the pace, the culture. Then they will understand. Maybe.

Good, but
8 January 2023
Look at these reviews. I'm glad imdb have made reviews have to be at least 600 characters. Some of the one line reviews saying 'don't watch it, avoid, worst ever'. They are not reviews, just folk who trawl the internet and get angry when they don't understand something. So understand this. Amir Chamdin has a style. It's not for everyone, but obviously influenced by seventies cop/drama shows. The show moves really well and I think the cast is pretty perfect. Maybe 2 episodes to long. However, it does keep you gripped. For a binge show it's great. But now to the bad bits. The music/score is good. Nice to hear some guitars and not just drone keyboards. That said, I'm sure some of the lines where used in Amir Chamdin's Partisan. Infact, they are. Which leads me to the next point. I think Amir has a slight issue ending things. It's almost like when he's involved in a series the last episode is written the day before, or on the set. There was one moment in episode 8 I think where you could clearly see another camera in the shot which is pretty poor and would seem to justify my thoughts it was rushed. But I enjoyed it a lot, and I really hope Amir Chamdin peaks soon. He has some really good ideas.

The Finns are getting good at this
8 January 2023
Happy to be the first reviewer and get in ahead of the Tom Cruise crowd who don't understand something so give it three stars. The show has a really different story, very good script. Super strong female performances with a few familiar faces and mixed with new ones. Certainly for me. It has a very real handheld feel about it. Reminded me a lot of The thin blue line. Emmi ParviainenPirkko HämäläinenMaria Heiskanen are all excellent and, with a cameo from Ville Virtanen it's a thrilling watch. Arttu Kapulainen plays a role I've never seen him do before and executes is superbly. I really hope we get to see a season 2...excellent.

Some reviewers eh
8 January 2023
I often wonder why people bother leaving a review, maybe folk have to much time on their hands...A good example is the first review here...To quote. ''I had no foggiest idea what this piece was actually all about''. Yet still felt obliged to give three stars. Maybe it was genius, but because you don't know, it's rubbish. Well it's not. It's an art movie made with total skill and direction. It empowers women without degrading men. It moves at the perfect pace and, of course those Finns know how to do dark, minimal dialogue, beauty in the location. Inka Kallén is spectacular. But no surprise as she stole the show in All the sins. Aku Louhimies ,YES, I forgive you for rig45, is back on form...thank you for making movies like this. I'm glad Marvel fans don't get it.

Heavy but beautiful
12 June 2022
Don't you just love the reviews that start with 'I love nordic noir but'. In other words, I love The Bridge and The Killing. Or one reviewer here 'crumpytv' who seems to only review things he hates, warning us DO NOT WATCH. I digress. This film is a wonderful watch. Substance, great script and some depth that at points makes it a hard watch. Norway has some great output. Well with watching.

It's a good take on modern life
12 June 2022
Firstly, the show does not promote abortion as the previous 'review' claimed. It's a real life issue so we don't need to turn away from it. I like this show a lot. Sometimes in this life you need something with a cool flow and some quality acting. Julia Ragnarsson is great, I can watch her in anything. Such an honest presence on screen and never over eggs the pudding. The show has a good pace and is perfect for a binge watch. Bring on season 2 please.

Forget the negative reviews.
5 May 2022
Odd how people who are so critical of this show watched the entire series. And as for bad acting, Deg has some of northern Europes finest. I assume some of the show was made during covid which is a huge challenge. Some of the plot twists where pretty intense and I think the casting was great. Hopefully a second series please.

Wonderful momentum. And season 2 is killer
29 April 2022
I watched the first episode and shelved it for around a year as I thought it looked a bit amateur. During lockdown I came back to it, and so happy I did. This show has all the ingredients for a disaster, but it's anything but. As the episodes unlayered a plot that kept turning answers into questions the positioning of who was the main character changed, very smart. As for season 2, wow. I saw one review on here whining the seasons should of been in reverse order. That would be like suggesting jimmy Hendrix would of sounded so much better had he learnt the violin. I see there is going to be a season 3. Bring it on.

So this is satire?
27 December 2021
A movie that projects why people have zero faith in humanity..the 7.3 on imdb proves that..shocking film, dreadful. Probably another favours flick and a Toal waste of money that could of been used on 5 decent movies. Imagine what the initial script must of been like, and how anyone could imagine it was a good idea.

Pressure...
14 September 2021
Our Northern European friends do grit so well. I can imagine when the lead, and almost only visual actor in the film was given the role it must be every actors dream. And he delivers. I'm not going to say anything about plot as I don't believe in spoilers, but this is gripping beyond words. I have also noticed a version floating around the internet that has totally unique soundtrack added. I think if a film inspires someone that much that they they spend however long doing it on the fly, it must be good. Top marks to the writers and actors and team, and top marks to whoever it was who added the score...

Trust me, I'm a doctor.
4 September 2021
So, it's really interesting how patience seems to have no virtue with some reviewers. It's almost as if they want every show to be 'GOT, Welcome to Utmark, Breaking Bad, The Bridge'. Fine if you have the backing of a huge network with a million bucks per episode. But there are many other shows that take a different path, and this such the case. The synopsis of the show is super smart, with each episode movie length that interweave. Karin Franz Körlof is nothing short of outstanding. I almost hope when Hollywood calls she turns it down. Jörgen Bergmark story is smart and had me guessing out loud constantly, and Annika Appelin makes another creation a wonder to watch. I don't do spoilers, but if you fancy something real, gritty, without the slickness of more soul less shows give this your attention. The only thing that may turn you away is if you don't have 5 hours to binge. You will not be able to turn it off.

Check out the couple of one star reviews. One of them seems to not like woman at all, while the other hates Norway. But for those of us who engage with the brain this show is totally excellent. Watch it, you'll love it.

Tobias Santelmann is fast becoming a national treasure. Alma Günther is an amazing young actor. I wish imdb would get credits corrected. The pace of the show is perfection, and the cinematography is stunning. A must watch..

18 January 2021
I had this series on my watch list for a year and just kept giving it a wide birth for some reason. Then came the awful lockdown. Man, what a fantastic series. You don't need to like fottie, I do, to really enjoy this. I binged it all and felt sad when the final of the last season ended.

If you like 'Thicker than water' 'Borgen' then this is right up your street. If you like blood guns and the usual it's not. The script has a good pace and the engagement with the actors is good. If your a huge fan of most things nordic and fancy a lockdown binge watch, it's gold.....Bring on season 2 please...And make it available world wide.

Dump the negative reviews, this is special.
7 December 2020
Funny when you see the reviews who gave this low marks. All there reviews are the same. Maybe this show is a bit hi level for them. This is a tragic true story, told to every detail of the case, and nothing has been added for the sake of cheap entertainment. How these officers solved this case is really a testament to hard work, science, and the public. Not once is the accused's name mentioned, and he never appears in the show. Very smart and a worthy nod to the victim. The cast are of the highest standard and some major players have taken smaller roles to be a part of this incredible story.

Excellent first episode.
27 November 2020
I don't usually review on one episode. This show I think could be a real game changer for Nordic Noir and maybe just maybe influence series to come. We have all seen the greats and classics over the last 15 years. . But the way this is filmed and written takes you back to the period from where the true story came. Lot's of really unusual direction and camera shots, with a vidio/super 8 feel. And a cast full of un familiar faces delivering the kind of performance that totally engaged me. Enjoy...

What a great surprise this show was. I had previously been let down somewhat by 'Locked up'. But this was really smart. Totally engaged with the cast and plot and I'm happy but not fazed that this show won awards. Second season please, pretty please.

Stop rating your own movie
15 October 2020
I do wish this yesteryear practice of getting your friends to 'review' your film would stop. No one but no one can think this is 10/10..It's complete rubbish. The truth,[oh that, is there is zero story being told here, and considering Davie in real life has so many stories to tell, that's the tragedy of this horror. It has it all, bad editing, a dirty lens, I kid you not, and barley any errrr music in it. Had they of made a documentary then it could of been really something. But like everything in the music biz, that would only upset the hand that feeds.

15 October 2020
Some of the 'reviews' on here from 12 year olds who 'only watched one episode', who want more of 'The Killing, The Bridge'..Zzzzzzz. Yes!! It is a B movie, it's supposed to be, and while I agree the execution was not on point I can only assume this was probably due to various covid restrictions placed on the completion of the piece. If you like Whicker Man, The Prisoner, you'll understand this. Even people leaving it 1/10 can't stop themselves from leaving spoilers. Grow up.
