"The Dalek Invasion of Earth"
16 July 2007
Radiation nil, oxygen normal, pressure normal...an earth reading! The Tardis has landed in London. A menacing deserted London, with no sign of life and no sense of normality, but the decaying city is not as empty as it seems. The year is 2164 and the travelers soon find themselves facing antagonists whom they thought they had destroyed...the Daleks. They have conquered the Earth.

Ten Years after a cosmic storm, continents of people were wiped out by a plague. Then the Daleks came in saucers, shipping humans to vast mining areas, turning them into robomen and against their fellow humans. Earth contains something no other planet contains - a magnetic core - but why are the Daleks digging for it and how can the Doctor prevent them from tampering with the force of creation?

Classic 6 part series with the Doctor, Susan, Ian, and Barbara and their second clash with the Daleks.

so-so outing
13 January 2005
not terrible per se, but knowing from the outset that it's a pilot for a short lived NINJA series that co-starred LEE MAJORS and that i'll probably never see a single regular episode was an immediate downer.

still, it is somewhat enjoyable with a few nice action sequences mixed with the requisite witty repartee.

one can also take refuge in the fact that there is a plethora of better martial arts films available to see, and several more yet to be made. and eventually "the six million dollar man" and "the fall guy" will be released on DVD here in the states.

not ready for prime time
12 January 2005
the way the credits were presented and the fact that it very basic incidental and theme music leads me to believe that this was a pilot movie for a t.v. series for NBC that was not picked up.

i doubt that it ever aired when it was first made, and it was probably only eventually aired because of the success of bill maher.

i like the concept of a cop from the future teaming up with his great-grandfather to solve crimes on the mean streets of l.a., and maher was funny as the goofy techno-geek cop from the present, but if this had been picked up as a series, then i imagine that this teleplay would have been re-shot since most of it is as dull as an unsharpened pencil.

watchable but poorly written.
17 September 2004
the movie is watchable but poorly written.

it seemed like they just stuck to a basic outline when making this telefilm as the story is missing several key elements of a crime of this sort.

for example, foul play is suspected in the death of a multi-millionaire and there is no press interest?

it also lacks a substantial police investigation.

i could go on, but there's really no point.

if your desperate for some Hart to Hart action, then i would suggest you seek out episodes of the TV series.

if this is the only thing on t.v., then i would suggest you read a book or do something creative(like going on the internet and writing a sub-par review of a blase film - hahahaha)

nauseatingly bad
14 September 2004
i'm amazed there are people that actually like this tripe.

i'm even more amazed that i made through the whole thing without falling asleep. (for you see i had been up all night.)

i didn't expect it be very good, but i was genuinely surprised about how bad it was. it was like watching a never ending train wreck.

80% of the movie is mostly a boring music video.

the rest filled with random cameos, lame dialogue, spots of slapstick, and a semblance of a plot.

a must see for those who enjoy viewing the occasional pile of dung. it will certainly give you more appreciation for the 1000's of great films that are available for your viewing pleasure.

excellent film work/editing
21 May 2004
the movie has some hokie plot lines and some fairly bland acting, but it's well worth seeing for it's stellar race sequences, especially if your a fan of auto racing.

it almost works as a documentary for the now classic cars used in the picture, all it needs is the requisite voice over and background info

10/10 (for the editing and film work) 5/10 (for the rest)

bad acting, good music, so-so script
21 February 2004
It seemed to have pretty low production values for a Hammer film.

The music was pretty good, but I imagine it's not original to film.

There were a few nice kung-fu fights, but nothing you couldn't find elsewhere.

Stuart's character seems to be somewhat clever at times and extremely dim at others.

Some of the locations were neat, but only in a documentary way (a look into 70's Hong Kong)

You probably won't hate it if you see it, but it's basically a low budget action film with not much to offer.

i don't remember anything about this movie other than it being completely terrible. it should be in the bottom 100, and it will someday as soon as it has enough votes.

does not deserve to be in the bottom 100
19 February 2004
i'm in my early 30s and i thought it was funny. it's certainly not on par with the brilliant comedies made by monty python, but it's much better than 95% of the PG-13 garbage that continues to be released.

it was refreshing to see a PG comedy that wasn't centered around children. i really liked the gammy num nums disguise, and i wish they had been able to work the Mayor Maynot disguise in the movie along with the painting guy. thankfully they were both on the DVD.

i've watched it twice now, and will watch it again. dana talked (on a DVD featurette) about how he originally wanted to make a mission impossible type comedy with the master of disguise being part of the team, so maybe he'll go to back to that for a sequel; although, it seems unlikely since the first seems to be rather unpopular.

This is just a poor clone of It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.

It had a good enough cast and a decent premise, but most of the jokes just weren't funny.

I'm still surprised at the rating for this. My guess is that the folks that thought this was funny are ignorant of the classics.

it starting off okay, but it seemed like the film had an identity crisis for the most part. i suspect that they ran out of money when they were filming and just went with what they had. a big disappointment from tamara davis (although not as big as finding out that she directed a b.spears film - what did mike d think about that?)

better than the Rocky & Bullwinkle movie, but...
18 February 2004
that's not saying much.

made with less than 1/100th of what was spent on the mega-disaster, The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle.

It's not a great film by far, but it's certainly enjoyable at times.

I liked it, I'll even occasionally play the video, while I'm working on something, but i can't recommend it because it has a tendency to drag.

If you're a fan of SCTV, you may enjoy seeing Dave Thomas, Andrea Martin, and John Candy, of if, like me, you're a Rocky & Bullwinkle fan, then you might get a laugh or two, but don't expect much.

Much more entertaining than Star Wars!
18 February 2004
i'm appalled at the rating for this classic. what i gathered from the few negative nellies is that they were (a) not Pee Wee fans or (b) obsessive burton fans who think of this as one of his films, when really the comedy stylings of pee wee & phil hartman, both former groundlings, who are the heart and soul of this movie. i'm not saying burton didn't contribute, but that it was a collaboration between the three.

I can't say it was a disappointment...
17 February 2004
because I had fairly low expectations from the start.

Is it just a sad attempt to recapture the charm of the original(which seemed rather drab the last time I saw it), or to once again reap a cash bonanza like that of the first film, probably the latter, but I can be a bit of a cynic when it comes to the motivations of Hollywood producers.

The jokes in the script seemed rather dated, almost to a point where it seemed that it was written in the late 80's.

Currently it has a 4.6 rating, which seems 2 point too high. Maybe someday it will sink to the bottom of the IMDb swamp where it belongs.

but then i was laughing at him. every time he spoke i kept thinking of kelso. who thought dawson would make a believable cowboy? this is a ridiculous waste of celluloid made only to cash in on its celebrity cast. see it only if your in the mood for a larf. if you want a good western stick with the classics.

is dullsville, USA.

the first part of the movie when they show the promotional film about the new security robots was great. i especially liked that Paul Bartel and Mary Woronov reprised their roles from Eating Raoul. the rest of the movie was just a big let down.

it has such a great title and great 'villains,' why did they have all the mayhem when everything is closed and all the shoppers and 99% of the workers are gone. films of this genre deserve mass chaos, people running and screaming, shopping bags flying, a little child with a teddy bear in one arm and his mommie's severed hand in the other, but i digress.

i say watch the first part then pop in dawn of the dead(1978)

I really wanted to like this movie, but the pacing was just way too slow.

It was a nice story, but it was really like watching a slug race.

The movie would have been better served, if it had some more action. I don't mean anything grand, but at least something in the background.

It could have also been helped by songs that set the tone/mood of the more lengthy periods that were absent of dialogue.

It's been about 10 years since I've seen it, so I may have to give it another chance.

huge Ramones fan. i do like the ramones, and i suppose if you hate them, then, besides being a avid Bush supporter, you might not like this classic.

it's immensely better than the sappy john hughes teen films and the like that littered the 80's. infinitely better than the American Pie's that plague us now.

There are some other great high school films: Switchblade Sisters, Fast Times..., Class of '84, Three O'Clock High, and the cheesy yet gripping(doesn't seem possible) River's Edge. But RnRHS will always be my favorite because it's the funniest and most fun, plus you can get up and dance with it.

I love you, Riff Randell.

not bad for a family film
16 February 2004
if you're expecting a comedy in the caliber of Naked Gun then you'll definately be disapponted. if your looking for something light and silly then this may be the film for you. Has the feel of some of the 60's disney films...simple plot, cartoonish villains, etc.

Nielsen's portrayal of Magoo is more than adequate, and he was given ample room for comic buffoonary. everything else is just filler.

I loved the tattoo he drew on himself for the hot tub scene.

maybe it was the psychedelic mushrooms I ate.

It's so incredibly bad, that I laugh every time I think about it.

I don't think I could ever watch it again. Certainly not sober, maybe if there were a good MST3K treatment of it.

A great example of the greed that runs Hollywood.

insulting to intelligent beings everywhere
15 February 2004
First off, I'm a huge fan of the TV series, and this film had none of its wit or charm.

The script was terrible from start to finish. The whole racist angle was quite misplaced. I'd be willing to bet that at least half of racist terminology used by Branagh was historically inaccurate, but that's neither here nor there, it was simply unnecessary.

Sonnenfeld had the opportunity and certainly the talent(both his own and that of his cast) to make a classic western/spy/action/comedy, instead he just made a $170 million pile of poop.

On a positive note, I liked the giant spider machine and the wheelchair F/X.
