Virgin River (2019)
I Give Up
Just started Season 5.... I'm on Episode 4. I've tried to like this show but it is just the cheesiest, uninteresting show I've ever seen. The writers don't seem to have a clue in the timing of the episodes since Season 1. Charmaine was pregnant in Season 1 and now going into Season 5, she's still pregnant. Really?
The Preacher/Paige storyline took up a lot of time in earlier seasons but in this one, it's done before Episode 2 is over. It's just so unrealistic I can't bear it. Paige leaves town but just leaves her food truck?
Don't even get me started on the Hope character. She has got to be the most annoying, over the top, character I've ever seen on a show. Her acting is awful and nerve grating! I can't bear any scenes with her in them.
Does anyone actually work in this town? All the characters always seem to be elsewhere instead of at their jobs....drives me insane.
The only likable character is Doc (Tim Matheson).....He's the only truly talented actor on the show. The rest need to go be in Hallmark movies.
I've never read the Virgin River books but they have to be better than this boring mess.
This Is Us: The Train (2022)
Amazing!!!!
Wow!!!! What a ride this was! I can't believe this show will end after one more episode. This episode was probably the best TV ever. It was so well written, creative and unique. I won't lie, get your tissues ready from the beginning......So many feels from this episode. Well done!
Outlander: I Am Not Alone (2022)
Boring Season 6
I finished Season 6 and just kept hoping it would get better with each episode but it didn't. I'm so disappointed in the story line. I haven't read any of the books so I really don't know how this was to play out but each episode was extremely boring. Also, the deal with Claire sniffing the ether almost every day was so weird and out of character.
The writers for this season just didn't bring it and I seriously don't think I'm looking forward to Season 7 if this continues. Also, if we have to wait two more years until the next season, I will be totally over Outlander.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (2017)
Season 4 has lost me.
I'm in with the 4th episode but doubt I'll be watching the rest. I haven't laughed one time in 4 episodes. I seriously don't think Midge is funny at all. This season is so far off from the first season I can't believe it's even the same show. I'm done!
Murderville (2022)
Hilarious!!!
I can't believe all the negative reviews. I thought it was absolutely hilarious! You have to listen carefully to Will Arnette or you will miss some very funny lines. I loved that the celebrity guests had to improvise and loved watching them trying to keep a straight face.
I suggest you take this with a grain of salt and just enjoy these six little 30 minute episodes. I was laughing out loud in parts. Yes, it's stupid and far fetched but it's just fun. I highly recommend.
The Kominsky Method (2018)
More Episodes Please!
I had no idea what I was getting into when I started watching, but so glad I did. I love the chemistry between Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin. Very well written and hilarious! I just wish there had been more episodes. I've actually watched once by myself, then watched again while getting my husband to watch it. Just as good and funny the second time around. I highly recommend!
Call Me Kat (2021)
It's Just Not Funny
I love Leslie Jordan so I was excited about this show. After watching the first episode I won't be watching it again. There was just nothing funny at all. I kept watching thinking it would get better but it never did. None of the characters were funny or interesting. This show needs better writers.
The Good Karma Hospital (2017)
Love It!
I just got a subscription to Acorn TV and had no idea what to begin watching. I picked this series to start and I'm so glad I did.
I love everything about it..........the opening music, the scenery, the storylines, etc. I'm just starting Season 3 and will be sad when I finish. I certainly hope there will be a Season 4.
Sweet Magnolias (2020)
Sweet but cheesy!
First & foremost........why, oh, why do they get actors that CAN NOT do a southern accent? I'm from Louisiana so I know what a southern accent should sound like and this wasn't it! Chris Klein's character was the worst! It would be more believable to just have them speak in their normal dialect. Nothing kills a show or movie than fake southern accents!
Secondly......Jamie Lynn Spears is just awful.....Her non acting skills along with a pitiful character script made my head hurt.
Third......Some of the teen characters just got on my nerves, especially Dana Sue's daughter.
This series is basically just a long, extended Hallmark/Lifetime movie. It's not terrible but not really captivating either. It's just a good lazy day, easy, no stress kind of viewing. Enjoy with a cup of coffee!
The Kominsky Method: Chapter 9. An Actor Forgets (2019)
Politics??? Really????
I was so excited the see the second season was out. This episode was going great until they started making political digs. REALLY? Can Hollywood make any movie or TV show that doesn't mention Trump, Republicans, climate change, etc? It had absolutely nothing to do with the plot of the show so why put it in there? Just trying to get their propaganda out any way they can I suppose. Well, it just ruined a great show and I probably won't be watching the rest of the episodes if this is any inclination of whats in store. So sad because I loved the first season, truly funny.
Dead to Me (2019)
WOW!!!!!
Well I didn't get a thing done yesterday because after watching one episode, I was hooked completely. I watched all 10 episodes in one afternoon! Great plot twists and dark humor.........Now I'm ready for Season Two.
Great acting by Christina Applegate and Linda Cardenelli. I highly recommend watching this awesome series.
The Cool Kids (2018)
Love It!!!!
I absolutely love this show!!!! It makes me laugh out loud and I love the interaction between the characters. It actually shows that older people still like to have fun, have relationships, etc. It's nice to see actors from past years make cameo appearances (Leslie Ann Warren, Patrick Duffy, Jamie Farr, etc.). I certainly hope this show is renewed. It is refreshing to actually sit and watch a funny show without some kind of political agenda being forced down our throats. My only complaint is that it's only 30 minutes and not an hour.
The Favourite (2018)
What Did I Just Watch?
Was excited to see a movie about British royalty as I usually love these movies, but within minutes realized this would not be the case. First off, the filming has that grainy texture that I despise. It never looks clear and has a yellowish dreary tint throughout the whole thing. Most of the filming was so dark and hard to see....yes, I understand it was a period of time with only candlelight but this got old real quick.
Secondly, if you like the "C" word, you will probably love this movie. I on the other hand absolutely hate it and it seemed to be every other word. The whole movie just had a nasty, dirty feel to me. I'm not a prude by any means but some scenes just made me want to close my eyes. The music in this movie was weird and very annoying in parts.......long drawn out scenes with some sound that reminded me of a piece of machinery going on the fritz.
I really don't have anything positive to say about this movie. My friend that was with me was actually laughing out loud at just how incredibly hideous and asinine it was.
I truly don't understand the positive reviews and that's actually made us want to see it. I don't think I'll be as trusting in reviews from hereon. Please take my warning, save your time and money and avoid this movie at all cost.

Jack Ryan (2018)
Suspenseful! Loved Every Minute
I've never read a Tom Clancy book so I had no expectations going into this series. All I can say is it pulled us in from the first few minutes and didn't let go until the very end. I love binge watching, my husband not so much. However, he was the one this time saying "Just one more episode tonight".
It is very suspenseful and kept us on the edge of our seats almost every episode. We really hated to see the last one end.
I will say, however, I kept thinking of Jack Ryan as Jim from The Office.
We loved every minute! Don't listen to the naysayers!
Certain Women (2016)
Time I'll Never Get Back
Boring does not begin to cover this movie! My husband and I thought it looked interesting so we were sucked in. I kept waiting, waiting and waiting for it to all fit together but it just ended leaving us looking at each other with blank stares!
Awful, just plain boring awful. Wish I had done something constructive instead of watching this total waste of time!
It was just a lot of scenery, driving in trucks, watching animals being fed with very little dialog. The only actor/character with any character at all is Jared Harris. I can't believe he agreed to be in this pitiful excuse for a movie.
Schitt$ Creek (2015)
Great Find!!!!
A friend told me she thought I would love this show so I've been binge watching the last few days!
Oh My Goodness......I love this quirky show! I know their acting is over the top but that's partly why it's so funny to me! I know this isn't real life but it's just a TV show and a funny one at that! The character of David is just hilarious in everything he does....his words, his expressions, etc.
The only character that I don't like is Roland Schitt (Chris Elliott). I've never cared for him in anything as he pretty much plays the same type character in everything I've seen him in.
So glad I tuned in to this show and hopefully it will be on for many more seasons!
Anne (2017)
Love, Love, Love!!!
I've been a huge fan of the Anne of Green Gables story since I was in high school. I was thrilled when the first movie came out with Megan Follows & Colleen Dewhurst. I've watched it over & over these past years. Last night I was searching Netflix and came across this version so, of course, I had to watch wondering if it would measure up to the original from 1985. Well, let me say that this production is absolutely wonderful and almost follows the books & movie to a tee! I noticed a few minor differences but this is just a most enjoyable show! I love everything about it! The scenery is spectacular and the actors are spot on! Now I can't wait for the next installment!
La La Land (2016)
Should Have Saved My Money
I'll never get those two hours back or my money! I should have read further into the reviews on here before wasting my time. This is nothing like I expected. I truly don't understand all the hype this movie has received and how it's winning so many awards. The acting & dancing is not very good and their singing leaves a lot to be desired. I've seen better singing & dancing on The Muppet Show! I thought there would be lots of visuals of LA but no, pretty much studio lot and apartment scenes. I was so disappointed!
Please don't waste your time on this movie! Just go out to eat and spend your money on a good meal!
Zootopia (2016)
Loved It!
Saw it yesterday with a friend of mine....I'm 58, she's 64.....we loved it! However, I can see that much of the dialogue of this movie would go straight over the heads of younger children. A friend of mine took her 5 yr. old grandson to see it and he was bored so they left early. As an adult, I found it very entertaining to see references to The Godfather and Breaking Bad, but most children wouldn't grasp it! The dialogue reminded me of how the Bugs Bunny cartoons used to be....loved it as a kid but realized all the satire later as an adult!
This movie was very beautiful visually. Loved all the bright colors. I also enjoyed trying to figure out who the character voices were as I hadn't checked prior to seeing it!
One for the Money (2012)
So Disappointing!
For years my friends & I have been hoping that a movie would be made out of one of the Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum books! We had invisioned who would be best for each part! Finally, a movie was made and we were so excited! Well, after seeing the movie on release day of Jan. 27, I have to say I am severely disappointed in this movie! None of the people chosen to play the parts seem to fit the characters in the book. The filming looked cheap and made for TV. The whole thing just seemed choppy and unorganized! While the book was totally hilarious, laugh out loud funny, this movie was none of the above! I don't think I even chuckled one time during the whole thing! I kept waiting for it to get better but it didn't! The whole group of us that went together felt this movie was not very good! When will I ever learn that most of the time, the movies are never as good as the books?
