Ganjasaurus Rex (1987)
This is just pure fun..
So what have we here? A good friend of mine told me I had to go check out this "video" called Ganjasaurus Rex, he told me it was really good entertainment...and I figured, the title itself is simply hilarious so what have I got to lose? No nothing at all..
It's somewhat hard to review this, but I will give it my best shot.. When you see an inflatable dinosaur running around making life hard for a bunch of marijuana growers, and some stoned hikers it's really hard not to laugh..
Maybe not for the Jacques Tati fans (although I myself like both), but this is just pure fun, and I will recommend it to just about everyone who enjoys having some fun..
Blödaren (1983)
So bad it's good
Swedish ripoff on The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. The overall quality of this film isn't all that good, in fact it really stinks. Not to say the movie hasn't got charms. The band "Rock Cats" is probably the funniest band ever, without a doubt. I mean take a good look at them, they are hilarious? The so-called "actors" aren't that bad, their performances are quite OK. And I mean it could have been a lot worse. I'm sure it wasn't intended to, but when watching this movie the laughs seem closer than the shocks.
My conclusion is that this movie actually is so bad it's good, in some morbid kind of way. Translated tagline: Watch out for him-before he sees you.. (Pretty lame?)
Bröderna Östermans huskors (1945)
A pleasant surprise..
Bröderna Östermans Huskors (1945) is probably best remembered for an (at least at the time) stirring nude sequence with the sweet Emy Hagman. The scene itself is pretty lame by today standards, but I could imagine how it was received back in the 1940s. The story involves maid Anna Söderberg (Hagman), who takes on her responsibility to transform lazy archipelago brothers Kalle (Jahr), Lasse (Rolén), Nisse (Elfström) in to civilized men, with table manors, and all a woman possibly could wish for. This film could have been a boring farce like so many other Swedish comedies produced at the time, but instead director Ivar Johansson together with Erik Lundegård created 104 minutes of Swedish joy. Personally I would say this was a pleasant surprise, to bad the end is disappointing.
Filmed earlier in 1925, 1932 (Sweden), 1943 (Denmark) and later in 1967 (Denmark). Adapted from a play by Oscar Wennersten.
