Bull: The Diana Affair (2022)
THINGS ARE BEGINNING TO WRAP
I kind of wish that I didn't know that Bull was coming to an end. I love this show and knowing that it's going away is making each step painful. I liked Diana & Bull as a couple and that made the final scene all the worse. Even as the lump in my throat became uncomfortable and my vision blurred (not helped at all by Al Green's soulful voice crooning his version of "For the Good Times" in the background),I knew it was the only appropriate ending. A good episode with some great scenes.
Superstore: All Sales Final (2021)
A HAPPY, BUT SAD, ENDING
I laughed... albeit with tears in my eyes. Thanks and KUDOS to all involved in producing this series and especially in how it came to a close. I'm an aging, broken, retired Army veteran and I've lived with trauma much of my life and severe physical pain for the last decade. Superstore, with all of its sarcasm, irreverence and flawed characters, somehow struck a deep chord in me. This show, while on the surface seemed almost slapstick physical comedy that made me laugh out loud, also frequently led me to think about my opinions about many things. Happy ending are too rare in today's world,THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR GIVING US SUCH A WONDERFUL, HAPPY WRAP!
NYPD Blue: A Death in the Family (1996)
This Episode was Hard to Watch
The death of Andy Jr. And its aftermath seemed to harsh. I'm not usually so affected by what happens on the television shows that I watch but this storyline hit me just as hard the second time that I watched it as it did 25 years ago. I suppose that these feelings are mostly the fault of Dennis Franz, who is without a doubt, the ultimate character actor.
Chicago Fire: My Lucky Day (2021)
INTENSE EPISODE!
Intense dialog between Joe and Herman was excellent. I could listen to Herman talk about his family a whole episode. Not as much of the constant action and playfulness in the firehouse as usual, but still a great episode!
The Hunter (2011)
Dafoe's Acting is Truly Amazing!
If you are a Willem Dafoe fan (I am) I highly RECOMMEND this movie. He plays a solitary, mercenary hunter caught in a complicated ethical dilemma. This film may be his best acting yet. I am left bothered by many unanswered questions, many undeveloped or underdeveloped characters and unexplained decisions throughout, but that is just the part of me that likes things tied up in a nice, neat little package. This film is one that, even during many periods of slow moving action and little to no dialog, kept me riveted to the screen! Despite the fact that I will be left wrestling several ethical questions for at least days, and I hate the way that several things in the movie happened I am rating this movie a 9/10 on IMDb. Caution...this is NOT a feel good movie (ok, maybe there are a couple of feel good scenes...but I am not going to spoil it for you!) Hunker down with a warm blanket, warm beverage and a snack and enjoy!
The Man Who Came Back (2008)
Good Movie That Reminds Us Again of a Terrible Time
Earlier critics of this movie must fall into one of two groups, cowards or racists. While this movie was not state of the art as far as cinematography or technology it tells a story that cannot be retold enough. We are capable of terrible injustice to one another and we would all do well to remember George Santayana's oft quoted words, "Those who cannot remember the past, are condemned to repeat it." There were many good performances including those of George Kennedy, Billy Zane, Armand Assante and especially Eric Braeden. I agree that the scene which depicted the murder of Paxton's son and the rape of his wife was brutal, as was the hanging scene, but they were sadly accurate of the brutality that we are capable of.
Annapolis (2006)
Great Movie!
I had read some of the reviews and comments about this movie so I was not expecting much. By the time I left the theater I wondered what other movie the naysayers had watched! I laughed, cheered and teared! James Franco is outstanding for the second film in a row. Although my 21 years of military service was in the US Army I believe that the film captured much of the essence of stressful military training...and why we do it. The varied motivations, from patriotism to the burning desire to overcome one's family background and upbring were so common among the heroes I served with. I applauded the movie and will own it on DVD someday! HOOOOOAHHHHH!
