X-Men: Slave Island (1993)
Phenomenal episode
So much action, watching in 2024 and it still packs a punch. Loved the Mystique and Cable cameo/intros. After the previous episode I was hoping it would get back to the original pacing of sentinels and mutants fighting back and it did not disappoint. Plus the cliffhanger was perfect, reminded me of my childhood where I would immediately let go of the breath I had sucked in unknowingly and now waiting for the next week's episode. I do wish Storm would stop getting injured/weakened so quickly after displaying her powers. Hoping to see a lot more of Cable. Rogue's rescue of Storm was great and I internally cheered.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Duel of the Droids (2008)
Powerful episode
Beautiful display of how we as humans tend to project our feelings of empathy and compassion for more than just other humans. Highlights Anakin's deeply genuine and good character, fantastic episode.
The Guilty (2021)
A story of bad people making good choices
Just watched The Guilty. Jake Gyllenhaal has range, no surprise. My takeaway was he was trying to atone for one sin by amending another, but he realized he needed to face the consequences of what he did. There was a slight moment of relief when he realized both people were saved. But then a dawning realization that his guilt wasn't absolved. At the end of the movie I don't feel bad for him and I think that was the movie's point. In any case I thought it was also a parallel of his struggle with mental illness and Emily's. But maybe it was guilt all along and when he literally vomited the truth, he felt clarity in knowing what he had to do. It was a story of bad people making good choices. That's my take on it, loved the direction & pacing.
Supergirl: The Fanatical (2018)
Emotionally deep
Loved this episode. Relationships between characters were explored so so we'll. And the action wasn't so bad either.
Supergirl: Trinity (2018)
Incredible emotions. Horrid action.
I'm so dissapointed with this and the last episode. The character emotion and development is SO INCREDIBLE. I was moved to tears when Winn and James were crying when they thought he would die. But the action scenes? So bad. So bad. The angles, the direction, cheesy and look like not enough thought was put into them. A wonderful episode that had incredible action sequences was 3x14: Schott through the heart.
The Flash: The Trial of The Flash (2018)
Wonderful episode
Acting and script was wonderful. The nuclear man seemed a bit forced but understandably so.
Supergirl: Wake Up (2017)
Refreshing episode
This episode had to have different directors. Really wonderful acting, great dynamics in every relationship.
Scorpion: Cliffhanger (2015)
Suspenseful & peak arches are hit
I loved this episode. A lot of arcs are either peaking or coming to a close, family dynamic and relationships is once again beautifully centered and a great plot point.
Scorpion: Dominoes (2014)
Awesome, but two things:
Amazing episode, was choked up with tears, and the message sent was beautiful. But two things:
1: couldn't they have funneled scuba gear or a scuba breathing tube down long enough so that it would stick in the air so he could breathe the whole time?
2: the acting/writing for the dad in the end...my god. The guy who just saved his son walked in and he sat there. Was he told to "smile and nod at your wife the whole time"? Very cringe.
Scorpion: Rogue Element (2014)
Almost in tears
Beautiful family dynamic they showed here. Beautiful work.
Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002)
Amazing!
What a jam packed movie. You're getting your money's worth if you saw this in theaters. So many satisfying battles.
