Hero: The Rock Opera (2004)
Amazing! Michael Tait can SING! No, really!
After you make it past the opening scene where a rapper (not Tait) does his ...ummm... best... at trying to sing, everything else gets good enough to make up for it! Tait gives an emotion-filled performance as a modern-day savior, and the rest of the cast, notably Rebecca St. James and the singer portraying Hero's mother, do an excellent job as well. Singing, break dancing, T-Bone barreling into a pain-filled rap pleading for Hero to save his dying daughter, Rebecca St. James as a prostitute leaving the streets to follow Hero along with Mark Stuart, the tension mounting as the leaders of the one-world-government-supported religion realize their grip on the people is weakening with Hero gaining the people's admiration and trust... You have to wonder if Hero will lead the people in an uprising against the Internation Convederation of Nations (ICON) or if he will be crushed like all the other revolutionaries before him....
