Joker (2019)
Unique and brilliant!
This movie is incredibly in its own way. Joaquin is phenomenal in his acting, commitment and portrayal of the depth of Arthur, especially the the multitude of pain one can feel or is possible to feel. The toll of unrighteousness that a person can encounter, and how hard it can affect the outcome of a persons mental state and loss of trust in the world around them, is so well depicted in this movie. There's almost no country that I know that has a very well working mental health program and so many tragedies happen due to the lack of policies, politics, budget cuts, byrocracy in general, incomprehension and mostly because of the lack of compassion.
People tend to talk about what understanding and being open minded, but in truth, most of them just say it because they want to portray something to others. The motion that if everyone has the same opinion or shares the same values, is much more accepted then speaking out on issues that raise questions, in a respectful way. It's like the world or better yet the people in it, are so willing to become sheep and name the others wolfs, that they're not willing to see that neither should be the only option, but rather be understanding, respectful but most importantly individual.
Arthur made bad choices, choices that most would most likely not even consider. Acknowledging that and putting it aside, he was insanely resilient, patient and indefatigable especially considering everything he had endured. I've seen this movie several times and from the first scene on, it's heartbreaking. Yet, most don't take anything from this and continue their lives as normal and won't see individuals in wolrd of pain or unjust conditions any differently.
9-1-1: Lone Star: In the Unlikely Event of an Emergency (2022)
Love the show, but please enough..
..with the unrealistic disasters! There are good storylines with the characters. Just feels like the writers don't know how to make it interesting without making very unrealistic scenarios with emergencies that are solved also very unrealistically! Serious a backpack would hold the pressure ecen in a plane? I'm sorry but I don't have to be an aviation engineer to know this. This show is becoming as bad as Lost did after a few seasons!
Just give us realistic scenarios that are interesting! There are plenty of those out there that have actually happened! The original 9-1-1 has also unrealistic scenarios but they're a bit more subtle. Lone Star really takes it a bit too far.
Heartland: How to Say Goodbye (2017)
Norwegian Fjords?! Seriously??
I really appreciate the show and what it's portrayed as good horsemanship and how to understand a horse better on a more equus level and I understand that the show wants to cover all different aspects of equestrian sports ans equine breeds, but portraying Norwegian Fjords as Przewalski horses is A BIG JOKE! The worst part is that their manes were trimmed which makes them look just even more like domestic horses. Fjords are so much more beautiful with long mains and it would at least make them look closer to a wild
horse even if Przewalski horses do have a short mane. But Fjords?? Really? I would've used mules, those would at least look more alike!
Usually I'd give it a higher rating but this really disappointed me big time! Almost as the badly painted "appaloosa" as ghost. Someone could've made a bigger effort to at least copy the original appaloosas color!
Herd (2016)
Well. Visually nice but boring otherwise!
Funny how the woman said that she doesn't use pressure and release when that was exactly what she did. Pressure doesn't mean physical contact. It can be just the presence of a person. You give pressure when you move towards a herd or an individual horse. Even a look is pressure. Any horse can be conditioned to the slightest pressure when trained well. As an example, you can first introduce the pressure by actual physical touch and sound, then by time the horse learns that when the hand comes closer to the body they have to move. At the end they will read your body language and yield to the pressure of your look. The release is not to do anything or by looking away or not waving your hands anymore. Another very obvious factor was the horses sensing your so called aura or whatever she called it. Horses can hear your heartbeat and smell if your sweating or releasing any other body sent. So yes they learn to read humans by "reading your mental state" but it's actually just physical/chemical things. The reason behind this is that horses are heard animals and even being individual horses in a group but sense when another one especially the lead mare or stallion get worried aka. Their heartbeat rises. To avoid danger and potential predators. Horses are neophobic (scared of everything new/unfamiliar). Horses that have been out on the field since birth are reacting like mustangs would. They tend to be "spooky" which is very normal. These horses are domesticated and trained and familiar with everything around them, so of course they are very calm. Also because non of the people in the documentary weren't really anything else but calm. I wouldn't consider crying as a thread from a horses point of view. Last but not least I wanted to point out that horses always tend to do things that give comfort. Visually beautiful and nice sound editing! Otherwise quite boring and too much spiritual/religious nonsense. 2/5 stars.
Nobody's Fool (2018)
How much disappointment can one movie give?
Apparently tons! I mean since Whoopi Goldberg is in it I would've thought it'd be good but NO! The directing is so bad I think my 84-year old grandma could've done a better job at it! I know that the actors can act! I've seen Tiffany Haddish, Mehcad Brooks, Omari Hardwick and especially Whoopi Goldberg give great performances in other films but if the director is like excrement at his job, what can one expect?? Also the editing, with the 3rd class transitions? Oh and don't even get me started with the writing. The base idea, of the movie is good.. control freak meets guy online, thinks she gets fooled, falls in love with the "not so perfect guy" etc etc. But everything was so obvious. So much over acting (partly fault of the director!) and just so plain boring lines. Really didn't wanna even finish watching it but I couldn't have warned everyone else about it if I wouldn't have at least watched it to the end before writing this!
Summary: Not worth 1h 50min of your life! Unless you wanna learn how not to direct, act, cast, edit of write a screen play!
Death Note (2017)
Badly illustrated!!
The pase of the story is WAY too fast and many important details are missing. It doesn't give justice to the original manga or anime!
Touch (2012)
The most touching series I have ever followed
I watch at least a dozen series daily and from all of the series I have watched in the past few years, I have never come across a series that touched me this much as this one does. It makes you think how much actually your own life is connected to so many others and how many you influence through out your whole life.
Jake being autistic makes this story even more real (in my opinion). He silently tries to save people in his own way and his father being the "invisible knight" that carries out the necessary actions, which will influence the flow of things.
I hope they will keep this series running for a longer time and I really hope they will air it here in Finland also in television. Right now I'm trying to get my friends and family to watch it online, since there is no channel yet which airs it here.
Last but not least, I want to bow for the writers of this series of they're amazing way of telling each episode which such grace and beauty. It's rare to see something like this in television these days. Also I want to point out that without the amazing performance of David Mazouz as Jake this wouldn't be even half as amazing as it is now.
