Resident Evil (2022)
8/10
Not nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be
17 July 2022
I rarely post reviews but I feel obligated to after seeing all these gatekeepers trying to bash this project after watching only 20 minutes or an episode. Obviously this series is far from what the games are but I wish people would stop wanting it to be something specific and getting angry/disappointed when it's not. Just watch it for what it is. Most people reviewing went in already thinking it will suck and therefore, it will suck. I'm a big Resident Evil fan and I've enjoyed every project under the franchise umbrella (get it hehe). Resident Evil is not just the original material anymore, it's a multiverse, and it's ok to branch out and create new stories. This one doesn't disappoint. It can clearly appeal to younger audiences with the protagonists who start off as annoying teenagers but end up badass women. They really play with the love/hate feelings on a lot of characters. Evelyn is pretty evil yet extremely magnetic. I don't get the hate on the soundtrack either because I thought it was actually pretty good! Nice original score and nice popular bops here and there (Billie Eillish, Dua Lipa) Special effects are also decent for a tv series. Of course there is stuff that doesn't make sense but most shows or movies have some; but people aren't that desperate to dissect every little detail like some RE fans will do to prove their point that it sucks. They explain quite a few things about when and how if you care enough to watch the whole season. Overall I was pretty entertained with this and would gladly watch more seasons. I do agree that maybe this would have been better received as an original series without the franchise name attached to it, but worse case, that's how people should view it. I prefer a new storyline with a few references to the games than a carbon copy of what we've already played a handful of times.

The Ten Rules (2002)
9/10
So simple yet so true!
3 August 2005
Wow! I really hope to see more short movies of Michelle Paradise. She's definitely a good writer, and a good actress too. This short is hilarious! It's simple, and yet so true. I like the look of it too : the editing is great, and so are the shots. The storyline is brought with a nice touch, giving the viewer the feeling that the main character is actually speaking to her (I could say 'him', but I don't think a lot of guys have seen this movie :P). It's funny, fresh, and it gives us the chance to realize that much of what's going on in the lesbian community... well, really looks like this :P I bought the 'Watching You' DVD without having seen any of the films featured on it, and I can say that its worth the price if you want to own 'The Ten Rules'. Check it out! :)
