Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
A movie based on three lines from OT
SPOILER: I hoped this movie will "makes things right". Boy I'm happy I didn't pay for the ticket. This movie has no story. It's just a bunch of situations glued together. There's a meetoo robot, Alden is not Han, no villain, death in Star Wars movies doesn't matter anymore,. It just needs few years and a bad writer with lack of imagination and anything goes. You've seen Phasma die? We'll see about that in 9. I can't decide which movie is worst - Last Jedi or Solo. And I like Ron Howard. The guy once said A movie is 90% writing and 10% the rest. He's right. He just did his 10% and wasn't involved in the writing. It seems that rushing these movies (4 in 3,5 years) damages the quality of the story. In one word - terrible!
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013)
garbage
I don't know where to start....this movie remains me a Disneyland amusement park, but hey - the first Pirates movie was made on the basis of Disney attraction and was far much better than this...and Smaug has behind it's shoulders a cult book...What went wrong? Well, PJ's ego went wrong...the decision of squeezing 3 movies out of one tiny book was wrong...to change all those great rubber-faced LOTR orcs for a bad CGI was wrong...No story, just running - being captured - running - being captured - running...action sequences interminable, after the 10th decapited head I stopped counting...Action far away from credibility, no physical laws in this movie, Legolas looked fat aand older than in LOTR 70 years later, Tauriel...another super-elf - the elven guards were stupid and blind, orcs just came quietly as ninjas and killed them all, they don't mind walking under the sun (that was a big problem for them in LOTR) - they even look differently than in LOTR, everything digital, including the horse Legolas ride in the Lake City (does anyone know where the horse came from?), Beorn - or was it the Wolverine? Not sure, but the coolest stuff from the book isn't in this movie. Why? Because PJ thinks he can tell better stories than one J.R.R.Tolkien...this movie has almost nothing from the book, the few things are so changes that making this movie with different names of characters would save money for the license...the love story between Tauriel and Filli...I felt embarrassing for the actors for being forced to play this...really sad...Smaug - it has to be as a Jumbo Jet..The gold treasure? Of course - big like a 7 floor building...and go now Bilbo and find the Arkenstone :-) and what was that at the end? 20 minutes of running here and there and the stupid dragon didn't hit anyone in front of his nose? And the dragon fire has no burn power whatsoever...and the stuff with melting gold, doing a sand cake 7 floors tall golden dwarf and melt it in a second to kill the dragon...and then PJ probably thought Hey...there's another movie to make....let's make the dragon fly away..this movie has no inner coherence, it was a mayor dissapontment...Hobbit 1 was much better...I don't understand why so many people gives Smaug so high rating....this has nothing to do with Tolkien, the Middleearth of LOTR, this movie has no spirit.
Le comte de Monte-Cristo (1979)
Best Monte Cristo ever
This is by far far the very best adaptation of The count of Monte Cristo, very true to the book, with superb Edmond Dantes - Jacques Weber, a jewel, unlike the 1998 minis with Gerard Obelix Depardieu(worst adaptatio never). Have seen this mini series in 1985 and trying to get a copy, with zero results (there is a German DVD, with German language only..maybe at the end I'll end up with it). Can't believe such masterpiece lays in dust with no possibility to see it again. Dantes is slim, dark hair as described in the novel, when you see it, all the characters appears the way you imagined them when reading the book..A must see (if you have the chance to..)
