I liked it a lot

This movie did a great job of showing the French lifestyle and the time during which it was made. Most of the comments here are negative, but I thought this was one of the best movies I've seen in many months.

Jill's daily life, shown in the opening sequence when she travels by boat and bicycle to see her mother and various friends, is a wonderful example of European life where things are much prettier and healthier than in the US. Individuals are free to be with nature without making a conscious effort to do so.

The story of the movie is OK, not great, but certainly ahead of its time in the portrayal of the media culture. Diana Princess of Wales should have watched this movie.

horrible!

I watched this movie out of morbid curiosity. The South Park episode about "Mr. Jefferson" was more accurate than this. First, the actors who played famous people were truly horrendous. I have never seen a worse portrayal of Diana Ross or Janet Jackson. The actors did not even bear a passing resemblance to who they portrayed. And the Elizabeth Taylor representation was enough to never watch another made for TV movie!!! The woman looked absolutely NOTHING like Elizabeth Taylor- fat, UGLY face, British accent. Not on her worst day would E.T. even come close to this. One wonders if this is how black people see Ms. Taylor. Anyone who knows anything about her knows that she hates the name "Liz" and this is how the Jackson character constantly refers to her in this film. Aside from all this, the movie does its best to portray Michael Jackson as a naive victim. Puhleeze!

Did he write this blither himself? All it does is make unsuccessful attempts to legitimize the pack of lies he has been trying to sell the public for too long.

One of the worse movies ever made!

This movie is loads of fun

I had to comment here because the other comment was so negative. First, you have to like Doris Day to like this movie. It is one of her best and capturtes her in all of her best environs, as a mother, on the sidelines of fast lane society. How can any true fan not love this movie? She sings, she dances, and she acts.

Doris's interaction with the kids is what steals the show, she's so natural with them. The musical numbers are light and fluffy, but that was what we loved about her work! Niven makes an unexpectedly good straight man and counterpart for Doris who is all over the place. It is also interresting that Janis Page co-stars in this film as she was the top billed female in Doris's first film, Romance on the High Seas.

I think Page looks good as a blond and gives a great performance. Spring Byington is fantastic as the grandmother. The only walk-through performance is by Richard Haydn, who isnt too bad.

Anyone who loves Doris Day will consider this one of their favorite movies.
