Paradise City (2021)
A Must See
A follow up to American Satan, the series expands on the loose threads left from that story, and gives the audience an unforgettable experience through laughs, emotion, and importantly, rock and roll.
It's a great showcase of talent, from the actors and scriptwriting, to the many Sumerian Records bands showing their fantastic music.
If you a rock fan, are into interesting plotlines, and are prepared for something amazing, this is the show for you. 🤘🏻
Pocahontas (1995)
Underrated
This film has been said to be the snowflake that caused the avalanche of the Disney movies. LAME WORDS! This movie is amazing! Recently watched it again and it brought back soo many good memories.
First, I think that Pocahontas is a great Disney Princess. She's fun and free-spirited, but also serious and strong. Shame that she's the least popular with the fans of the franchise. I think the reason is that she doesn't end up with John Smith at the end.
Second, even though it's not politically correct, it's a great fiction story and strong, even with it being Disney-fied.
Last, the songs are amazing! I love them, best being Colours of the Wind! On the whole, I love it. Great cast, great songs and great telling of a famous story. My only problems is that Radcliffe is pretty forgettable as a villain and that, in a film where the tree talks, wouldn't it make sense for the animals to talk as well? But I'm judging it too much. Love it, Love it, LOVE IT! And remember "If you walk the footsteps of a stranger, you'll learn things you never knew"!
The Little Mermaid (1989)
Umm...
This is movie that I'm a little "hmm" with. It's a famous fairytale that's been 'Disney-fied' as I call it. One of the reasons is that the mermaid lives in the end (this is why I put the spoiler thing on). If you leave it where the wedding boat goes off and leave Ariel to cry, then that would be closer to the book. But no, we need a third act! Speaking of Ariel, *sigh*, I HATE her. She's all like "I've sold my soul for legs. LEGS!!!" Gosh, she's selfish! Even though she did wrong (even apologized, but for only 10 seconds), she still GETS WHAT SHE WANTS! Typical though, she is a Disney Princess.
So, you're probably wondering, if I hate the changes to the plot and the main character, why did I give it a 6? Because of 3 things; the music, the villain and the animation. This was made after Oliver & Co. so comparing the two is like comparing cheese and a marble statue. Second, the music is amazing. I even like 'Part of Your World', even though it's just a wine, but a pretty wine. I definitely LOVE 'Poor Unfortunate Souls'! That songs just rocks! And speaking of villains, Ursula is one of the best villains EVER! Being cunning and clever, but also manipulative and snarky! Definitely not someone I want to meet on a cold dark night when I'm swimming.
On the whole, it's an enjoyable movie. Sure the plot is a bit whimsical, but it makes up for it with the musical accompaniment. The main character has as much of a character as a wasp, but the villain is developed so well. So I would say go see it, but mostly just to say you've seen it. Another treasure trove to add to Disney's collection of thingamabobs.
Madeline (1998)
Sweet, yet fiesty. That's the director's take of Madaline!
This is an interesting take on a classic TV series of a young girl in a French school. It's interesting to take this as they expanded all the characters, like the the girls at the school having all different personalities. I do like Hatty Jones' take on Madaline (she does have a cute voice) as well as Nigel Hawthorne as Lord Covington, especially since he's played parts ranging from King George (in the Madness of King George) to Professor Porter (in Tarzan).
I'm not going to give anything away (if you're looking at these reviews, wondering if you should watch this, I would recommend it for girls 10 upwards) but it is lovely. Good actors, good script, combining some of the elements of the original series with the new parts that they put in.
Serioulsy, I would recommend it. It's sweet, but also gripping at times (not telling you when! That's cheating). However bad and girly you think it is, watch it. Then, if you still think the same... well, you can think what you think, I still like it!
