The Mill on the Floss (1997)
Tragic love story
I liked everything about this film except that it felt rushed and the ending was altered a lot from the book (character jumps and falls to his death instead of the wooden machinery floating towards them as depicted in the book). Oh, and one aunt seems to be completely omitted from this series!
The soundtrack is beautiful and the cast is stellar. Emily Watson has been outstanding in showing the conflicted, troubled Maggie Tulliver. James Frain as caring Philip, James Weber Brown as the intense Stephen Guest, Mr and Mrs Tulliver and the aunts, all add realistic flavor to their roles. Even the actor who plays Tom Tulliver, portrays him exactly as how Tom is shown in the book (based on Eliot's own brother). The scenes between Maggie and Stephen were shown exactly as the book intended them to be - dangerous yet true love. I especially liked how each actor was selected to perfectly match the character they played.
Just wish this movie had been longer -perhaps a 6 episode series. The scenes felt super-rushed and the dialogues had a bare minimum connection without much meat on them.
This movie is one of my favorites.
Mrugjal... Ek Naslela Astitva (2000)
Copy of Aubrey Rose
This movie story is an exact copy of an English movie 'Aubrey Rose' starring Anthony Hopkins.
The original story 'Aubrey Rose' is not credited anywhere in this movie and Wikipedia also mentions this as an "original story" by the Marathi director's brother.
Kindly stop the plagiarism - utterly shameful!
Acting by Khedekar was good and the Marathi movie is good but it should credit the original story
