Betrayal (2013)
Severely underrated.... this is an amazing series
I just finished binge watching this show. It is so engrossing and superbly acted. I'm surprised it only has a 6.9 rating. Anyways, if you are reading this... highly recommended... absolute joy. Each of the characters is likeable in their own way, and the story has interesting turns that I was not expecting. I'd bad that it ended with just one season, but that's fine. Good things always come in small quantities. I also love the fact that they didn't make it too cheesy or sleazy. It is close to reality and plays on the classical dilemma between duty and desire, loyalty and love. What would you choose?
Breaking Bad (2008)
Absolutely riveting
We thoroughly enjoyed this show. I think it very well deserves to be up there in the top tv shows of all time.
Yes Day (2021)
Quite boring
I thought this would be a fun to watch with kids... however, it was a total disaster. The kids didn't really love it either, although obviously they weren't as disappointed in it as we were, partly because the concept is great. They love the idea of having a yes day. But the way this movie develops on an otherwise wonderful idea is really a missed opportunity to make something really great, but failing completely.
One Night in Miami... (2020)
A very important movie of our time
Making a movie about such towering historical figures is a daunting task, because you cannot do a shoddy job at it. But this finely produced master piece does a great job at it. Malcolm X and Muhammad Ali are amazing, memorable characters of our history whom the younger generations need to be aware of. I would whole heartedly recommend this movie to everyone.
The Outpost (2018)
Excellent Show
I am thoroughly enjoying watching this. I got a little dis-hearted by the reviews, but don't worry about them. I think its a great show, which you will surely enjoy. Also, much more family friendly than that licentious game of thrones
Into the Badlands (2015)
Absolutely amazing
I just love this show. All three seasons. hooked on to them. All the characters fit so well in their role. Kind of reminds me of Kill Bill.
The Last Airbender (2010)
Excellent Movie. Kids Loved it. That's what counts.
This is a great movie. If you have seen the avatar cartoons, you will definitely love this movie.
I have heard people criticize it, and I don't understand why. Its highly enjoyable, well made, just perfect for kids.
I particularly love the statement of the director that I made it for kids, and not for their "parents" (like transformers, putting in sleazy scenes of Megan Fox in what was supposed to be a kids movie).
This movie is great hands down. I love how they compressed a very long series of cartoons into a very meaningful short duration which does not miss the important elements, and can still be enjoyed on its own. The effects of bending are also great.
Into the Woods (2014)
Absolutely horrible movie... total waste of time
See for yourself if you don't believe. After two hours, you'll come to the same conclusion. Secondly, some of the themes contained in the movie are absolutely beyond the age group that this movie is supposed to be targeted. Was it focused at adults or was it for kids? I'm glad they did not understand the full import of what was being conveyed. Anyways, my 5 dollars go down the tube. This concept of mixing all fairy tales could have been utilized excellently to make a much much better movie than this. I hope that Hollywood learns something from the reviews people give here. Another reason I did not like the movie was the love scenes were way too steamy.
Bedtime Stories (2008)
Not PG at all
The makers of this movie got confused about who they are making it for... is it for the kids, or is it for adults? I absolutely don't recommend any young children to watch it. With bad phrases like licking butt, references to pubs and night life, scantily clad girls, I think the director tried his level best to put in as much trash in there as was possible by remaining within the upper-est level of the official PG rating, with as many hacks as possible, trying to please the filthy adult mind, which they assume all adult parents have who might be watching it with the children. I think I might be a little more conservative then the rest of the folks here, but we must remember, it is the direction you set for children at a young age which will steer their lives later.
Fetih 1453 (2012)
Excellent Movie
For a long time, the only mainstream movies produced on events of historic importance to the Muslims have been Moustapha Akkad's The Message and Lion of the Desert.
Many Muslims I know take to watching movies on Jesus or anything which has an overlap with their civilization, like Kindgom of Heaven covering Saladin.
But this is going to be the first movie dedicated to a topic that Muslims romanticize about, both owing to its historical and spiritual significance in their religion. The ottoman empire is very well loved in the Muslim world, so much so that even their gold dinar based monetary system is being replicated as far away as in Malaysia. So it is understandable that a movie on the ottoman empire's highest watermark will definitely evoke a lot of emotional response in its watchers. This movie is a treat!
