extremely slow
4 October 2017
Read the reviews before deciding to watch this movie, found them intriguing with statements like "this is not a Horror, Slasher type Movie", which is great as I prefer horror movies that don't involve horror based around mental disorders/psychopaths etc. This movie is extremely slow, as much as you understand most of what the premise the movie is based on, it does not get intriguing until half way through, then the pace picks up until we reach the end and what a letdown, what an end, there is no end, no answers, no reason, not even a cliff hanger, nothing. I wont be watching it again and advise other viewers that there are much more enticing, watchable movies out there.

Slow and a Bad Script
22 September 2017
Bad writing is the only excuse I can make for how slow, boring, no plot/story-line whatsoever. here we have a stellar cast of John Hurt, Charlotte Rampling, Kiefer Sutherland and a great performance by Charlotte Gainsbourg, in fact those and others all had great stage presence however tho film had NO story to follow, no love affair or any plot what so ever. I am a bit dumbfounded as what to write as with the cast and the filming, specially Kirsten Dunst in the moonlight near a Brooke is an amazing still in it self, even the location looks great. It is just slow with no meaning and not even any character including the lead, Kirsten Dunst, to follow. Just a loss. I find this a lot with films of late with John Hurt in the mi\x, it seems like he takes any offer. I have liked his work in many things since "Partners" in the early 70's but the most recent movies he has chosen to be n have left me wanting from his stellar performances for many years. As said it has a great cast, this alone is no reason to mark it up, great performances with what little they had to work with, but no recommendation to watch from me. I am sill trying wot work out what the film is about excluding the name "melancholia" which is supposed the plot.

Fantastic Aussie film, well worth watching
20 May 2017
Now this is a movie that makes me proud to be an Aussie. I can not fault any actor in this movie from the main characters to support characters, even location shoots and cinematography. It is s a superb script, well written and directed however even with a great story and director if the cast were mediocre, so would the movie be however the actors in this gave 100%, one would wonder how they can score higher in their art. Special mentions to the two main characters, Miles Szanto and Daniel Webber, again I mention just two however all cast deserve a big 10 stars for their part as the whole movie rolls on with no pregnant pauses because of the support cast. Also the location people deserve a 10 as well. No this does not have wild and spectacular CGI but it needs none of it. It is a raw and gritty movie of the turbulence of Milos and his best friend Dan who is pulled into a world spiraling out of control and with little skill or worldly knowledge to deal with his best mate's issue. It is sad, happy and just a fantastic movie made so also because Aussie film makers find it hard to get funding and for a movie with Gay tendencies, even harder. I think I have given one 10 and that was because it deserved a higher ranking which I stated so in my write up, this deserves better than a 10. Congratulations to everyone involved.

Not great, children wont expect as much from this movie than Teen's & Adults
20 May 2017
Well I have to concur with most reviews here, this is not a great movie which is a shame as I think it could have been. Most people use the term "wooden" when they write about peoples acting ability in certain roles and for the most part, they are not just wooden but petrified. The main character played by a young man, Marco Tolage definitely shows some promise with throwing all his emotions in to the last scenes.

The story is one told since time of fables began, that of a savior in one form or another, just like King Arthur was the savior and even in TV series like Once Upon a time, we have a savior, so classic good vs evil but the threat is from alien's. It would have been good if the writer could have explored more about the reason for the bad guys rather than some one liner near the end.

For Sc-Fi people, it's watchable but yes, do not think it will blow your socks off. Children with less movie going experience may like it as the script is short and really, not many people speak more than one line of 5-7 words.

Great Film, writing, acting with many times you think it over, but then?
16 May 2017
I didn't read the user reviews prior to watching, the IMDb write up and it's average user score was enough for me, well, what a fantastic movie, credit due to the writers and directors and of course the small 4 many actors. Don't let the number of cast put you off, this movie (trying hard not to give anything away) has so many twists and turns, just when you are happy with your choice nearing the end of the film, then "POW" smack in the face, again and again. I can't say much more than the IMDb write up of a group of youths involved in petty crime decide to rob a War Veteran whom lost his only daughter in a car accident with rumors of a big pay out. The veteran is also blind so, they think him an easy target. Yes you are thinking what I did, classic of a trained veteran turning the tables, well think again as this movie is so much more and worth the time to watch it. I would say that a prequel would be a welcome addition and even a sequel would be worth a look. I will be watching out in the hop the make a new movie. Also if this is the type of quality film the directors and writers put out, again they will be on my watch list. Congratulations on a great movie, I would like to give a 8.5 but I can't do that, so it is worth a 9.

Gods of Egypt (2016)
10/10
Great Action/Thriller/Sc-Fi with excellent Special Effects, Story and Acting
12 May 2017
I am unsure why this movie has an under 6 IMDb score. I guess people thought this movie to be something it was not. This movie is in the same theme as Clash of Titans or many other Greek God themed action/ Sc-Fi movies. This however is based on the Egyptian Gods and is packed full of thrills, action with great special effects. The cast has some very big banes in it and as much as all the cast played their roles exceptional the main characters are a stand out with people like Ge3offery Rush, Brenton Thwaites, Nikolaj Coaster-Waldau, Elodie Yung and Gerard Butler to name just a few.

This is a classic good Vs evil scenario with the Gods of Egypt under siege by the evil Set, but without the help of the mortals, then only can Egypt be taken out of the throes of the evil God Set.

The screen jumps with magic, it is a movie with no slow parts, no gaps where you are not visually entertained. I think this movie is so go that if the writers, actors, directors etc where to do a prequel or a sequel, it would be also worth watching. This movie is worth watching if you like Sc-Fi. I don't know if every ancient God and Egypt that are portrayed are historically correct but it is not meant to be a documentary but a thrilling and exciting good Vs evil movie that packs a punch visually and with the actor's presence, Fantastic.

Ragnarok (2013)
A bit of a let down :(
27 January 2017
I was excited to watch this movie form its description and it started really well. Well it was OK for me, as we move through the movie again it keeps you interested until ¾'s of the way through it and it starts to have parts from Jurassic Park and then also Anaconda and numerous b_ movies of similar ilk. It is hard to write as I do not want to give spoilers however it is defiantly not in the league of Jurassic Park but lovers of Anaconda and several copycat movies will like this even though there is not as much "anaconda Action. So I was disappointed as I believe the description led me to believe something else, which maybe is my fault but that said this is a B- grade movie at best unless you love anaconda. Each to his own I guess. I thought the actors all were quiet solid and performed well albeit predictably. A poor ending as well. I just wish they gave us more, even a ghost from the past or something.

Decent enough Spy/Family movie. Worth watching
27 January 2017
Quite a few reviewers bag this movie, I just don't know what people expect these days. I guess they expect every single movie made to be in their taste and a Billion Dollar AAA+++ movie. Anyway, as a spy movie, it is not a 10/10 but it is also a good family movie (8) above, you know your own children. Normal violence you would expect from a Spy Thriller but not as bad as the XXX movies. There is a lot of family values and struggles that many families can relate too and I believe the writers portrayed that very well. Costner's acting in this was about an 8/10 as were the others excluding his on screen daughter who I thought was superb. Costner delivers a believable performance/character, just not his best. The action is frequent enough to keep you entertained along with the Costner on Screen family and another On Screen Family who have lessons for us all. The filming and angles I thought where great and in some cases extremely difficult, although in this day and age, anything can be done on a computer.

All in all this will appeal to those who like a Spy Thriller, a Family movie, bit do not expect this to be XXX or one of the latest James Bond movies. Worth watching, an 8/10 overall and I would watch it gain. I guess if they threw more millions at it, it could have been better received by some of the harsher critics on here.

A good movie for Family above 8
27 January 2017
I have to say that I agree with "westenicho" and that users comments about user "Russ-was-here" comments. I do not see anywhere in the film makers write ups where it states this is a factual presentation, maybe based on historical events which means they could take one battle form one area and supplant it in another. So if you want a 100% factual representation of the time, this is not for you, what it is, is a great entertaining movie and factual enough to believe the characters and their trials and tribulations. I think the acting was superb and as much as it is not a movie for the Oscars, it is an entertaining movie for family, Sc-Fi, Historical, Roman, History, and Ancient U.K. and surrounds history. Not enough gore so as your 8 year old could not watch but enough so this 53 year old male could enjoy. So watch it for what it is, a tale of long ago and the way things where as seen by the writers and directors whom I thank for bring this film to my lounge room. The scenery is great as well as costumes (even if they are not 100% factual), just a great entertaining movie, worth watching. I have seen it 3 times now and think it is worth a good 8+ or in the movies an A- for acting, direction, filming and particularly Set and Costumes

Decent British Mystery, a good 7/10
10 January 2017
I do not write often, I have written maybe 30 reviews, mainly because of time. I write this review in rebuke of writer "rightwingisevil (United States)" I find the comments a very poor reading and note that nearly 71 people also disagree. This is as the aforementioned writes, claims British crime thriller, it does not have cars screaming around corners, it does not have over the top cops with magnums more likely found in Texas or people from there. It is subtle, like most British films and relies on peoples thought, not their eyes seeing loud thunderous noises and special effects. This is the second time I have seen this film, and still right until the end, I was not 100% sure of who did it. Yes, I think some characters roles where not played to their fullness however those that were, deserve applauded.

Yes this is not a Starsky & Hutch Crime story, nor is it meant to be. No it is not an award winning film, however, without the extreme violence found in US stories similar, it is a decent good watch. I remind people in the US that "Murder She Wrote" was exactly what the aforementioned person states are "Female English writers", the same of Murder She Wrote which at its time was a hit, I am sure in its present form it would not be, however it enjoyed a great run on US TV before the violence that the US is now synonymous with.

Do not expect Wuthering Heights, but be perplexed by the players in this mid-range mystery, so totally British.

Kaitangata Twitch (2010–2011)
Good allrounder for under 12's, Mum's and/or Dad's
30 December 2016
This is the second time I have seen this, spread over a couple of years. I noticed there were no reviews here (those slack Kiwi's, leave it up to us Aussies to do everything). The acting in some areas, well acting/directing is a bit lame however it is not meant to be a sophisticated thriller, it is a movie for the younger of us. I believe that it would have more impact on viewers with an islander background (apologies to all people who hate being grouped under the "islander" tag, such as the Maori, no offence intended), but let's face it,, the islander people were some of the first Ocean Travelers going further than most, something to be proud of. This again would reach those communities as local language is spoken in the film with no subtitles. I have watched many Native films, from Africa, South America and Canada, some have more punch than the others however, for all kids up to say 12, will like this story, under 6, maybe a bit scary. It's worth a recommendation with the above criteria, so not a blockbuster, but good all round acting and cinematography along with story. Would be interesting if we ever saw a beefed up Hollywood version, not saying that big is better but just a question. Enjoy this as a matinée with the young ones.

Not worth watching unless your a Lindsay Farris fan
25 December 2016
I live in Australia and like a lot of Australians, we try and support our film industry, however there seems to be more flunks than triumphs. I watched this movie on the back of a particularly good Aussie flick. This film is extremely slow to start, that slow I was tempted several times to switch off and go to bed, it was just lucky I had to wait for something. So as the movie progresses the tension is palpable, even had be jump a little now and then, so much so I thought I would stick it through, then as I found out later there was another very slow part. I still hung in there and woe is me forever trying to watch this movie. NO ending is what awaits for you unless you expected it all along.

Stephanie King gets the lead in the billing, what for? Who knows, yes she played, what there was of her role well, the star who shone with acting ability and totally believable was second billed was Lindsay Farris, totally believable, excellent performance and realistically the whole film rides on his back, it is a shame the director or writer could not see the extremely long slow spots and a bit more of an ending, can't say more because I don't write spoilers.

Slow, Slow, Slow
19 March 2016
How this movie has an over 6 score on here is beyond me. The story line sounds great, some great big name actors, specially with Brad Pitt, I bet he wishes he didn't do this movie. I don't know what went wrong, maybe the directors view as you have a great story line/plot, great seasoned actors and yet it is so slow, well I would never watch it again, I will never recommend it to anyone, it is a waste of good time.

I wont bore you with a brief of the story as the story line above tells/sells it well, it just doesn't work on so many levels. Sorry Brad and Ray. Someone on here rated it a 10 and compared/stated it to be as good as the time immemorial mob films of the 70's, I can't believe it. I Should have known better, I am writing/Watched this movie in March of 2016, it was broadcast on a Government Broadcaster, never known for paying the big bucks for good quality US drama and even worse was scheduled at 11pm so that tells you it is of very little resale value as Govt Broadcasters don't like to pay, were Private Broadcasters do pay and that's why you will see the Godfather series still for many years to come on prime television channels, not Govt Broadcasters. This is a dud.

A great movie for family of all ages
19 December 2015
I don't understand why this animated movie. I am a 52 year old man in Australia from English background and I would hope the indigenous people of whom this movie is about is fantastic. I believe they may be the "Inuit" I sorry I don't know however it is an entertaining movie with great lessons for everyone from 5 up along with what I thought to be a great and entertaining story. It had a villain, a hero, heroin and a love triangle, comedy, love, tragedy and family ties not just immediate family but their wider community. I would hope the people whom this movie is made after are happy with the result, remembering that stories told by people, handed down over many generations may conflict. I still believe that they would be proud of this story/legend brings together a very wonderful experience. It is definitely a movie that parents will be happy to sit and watch with their children, be as entertained as their children and indeed learn some lesson for the younger, maybe be reminded of somethings for the older watchers. I would hope, and I have not found it, but a second movie with more of the indigenous stories/legends that tie in with the main character. I wish more movies were made about all indigenous peoples movies were made, given more air time and that is as I am sorry to say, many of them will never be the same. I have been told that there is no full blood Maori person in New Zealand left, that is sad I think and more reason why we all need to inspire and encourage movies like this, European history is not the only history and we have our legends like "Robin Hood", "King Arthur" UK and so many more which we all know and love, I add this to a favorite and will do more to know these stories/legends and peoples. The animation is good, it is not a Billion $$ budget however even the opening I thought I was watching 3D as it took me over the landscape, so pretty good indeed.

A good Romantic Comedy of 30's something trying to find love
19 December 2015
I don't know why this is only averaging above 5, it is a great romantic comedy with 6 main characters, 2 males and 4 females in or around 30 years old. The tribulations of a man who looks each night to use his talents and conquer a new conquest, another who wants the romantic ideal, are best friends they try and support each other, teach each other in their own ways. Can't say much more about that as it might give the movie away. Then their is the 4 females made up of friends including one sister who, to me, is the most sensible of them all and she is deaf and in a well chair. It has some good laughs, i would say more comedy however there is plenty of romance and the enlisting is just as you want it to be. I think the male leads are fantastic, they have you feeling every inch of their struggle (maybe I see it more because I am a man) however I see very much the portrayal that the women see of us men folk and the hardships that go along with us. They say women are fickle, in this movie I think it is the other way around, maybe part of the generational changes of how men act/are told to act/want to act, it's all to confusing and that last sentence sums up this movie perfectly. Sometimes us men might read to much into how we are supposed to act and what we are supposed to do. Some may call it a chick flick and if all you ever watch is the rugby, the horse racing, the boxing and speed racing, then yes this is a chick flick. I consider myself a man and like sports too, but this is light, funny and even the ending is not shall I say heavy, just a great movie and the actors although not greatly familiar to me (English speaker here) I found the character so very believable. Good job all around with story, directing and filming. I really don't know why this is rating at 5's, yes it is not Star Wars, it is not supposed to be, it is filmed with finesse, it does not need FX, it is lighthearted and smooth, entertaining all the way which is needed for me as I need to read the subtitles so it has to keep me entertained and it does. Congratulations to all involved in it. It is not a Cane winner but a great movie to watch, maybe if your doing a dinner and in home DVD night with a new significant other.

A Single Man (2009)

Colin Firth does it again
21 November 2015
I a giving this only a 6 but right up until the end it was a solid 9 to 10, the writer/screen play has deliberately left us all with no end to this great movie. Colin Firth's capabilities as an actor are proved yet again, amazing, along with other cast like "Goode" although realistically this is a one man movie where the plot and script revolve around "The Single Man's" past and present life, his encounters and his summing up of what is past and how to carry on in the future, that is not to say the supporting cats all are convincing in their roles but the movie revolves around the one main character. I would not recommend watching this movie if recently split up or depressed as whoever wrote/screen play did their research very, very well and brought up emotions in me long suppressed, the realty of this movie is heart and soul wrenching for those who know.

Great Movie but the ending left me wanting, can't tell you why because it would give it away, worth watching. Again Colin Firth to show such realism in this type of role is testament to his great acting ability, bravo.

Great for children and adults of culture and young at heart
7 November 2015
I noticed a comment here stating "this is no Kung Fu Panda 2" with the great FX, they then realised after 30 minutes that this movie needs no such action rather than FX. I hope that person will now watch more European Cinema as this is the standard and in animation it was a great effort especially considering the score was written and sung by one very talented person.

A movie to enjoy with your children and a movie to watch with a glass of wine with your significant other at age 52 or 7 or 99, the music/melody is sublime and I have ordered the DVD and the CD to play at dinner parties.

It is classical French theatre and the music/lyricist is a genius. You will also note that the movie adds a hat tipping to a very French classic which I will not say to spoil the movie. It also teaches us about people that may look different but are the same and can add to any culture.

Especially for those parents that worry about what can only be said to be money churning action animation and movies, this will start to introduce them to world culture. I give it a 10 as it is animation and no actors to examine and the composition is fantastic.

The Principal (2015–2016)
5/10
A great watch that will resonate in most communities in the world
18 October 2015
A great TV Series based on a true story as far as I am aware and played with so much experience of great actors who in my opinion know their art. The story is based in The Principal, the main character who comes back to his school of childhood, a school that had its demons in the past and demons a new in the present day with so many horror around the world that have been brought to every country due to globalization and the internet. The prejudices that follow that and the pigeon holing of certain people, those who fight for the right of someone who may be just fighting back due to not knowing how to succeed in this current world. It is a topic/topics that confront many people in many countries and is portrayed admirably by a very strong cast with the major player Alex Dimitriades as The Principal, amazing casting by the play write/directors/producers. A good watch. So you don't have to read 10 paragraphs of information which some people do and I hate, below is a commendation of the actors involved and some previous work. Alex Dimitriades is just a stellar performer, he first came to my attention in a movie titled "Head On" (A very different role and movie, read synopsis before watching) which considering the year it was made and the all-round feeling of the public regarding it's topic was an heroic choice by Alex and he literally pulled it off, but watching him in that and now this is just amazing. I have watched many titles with Alex in them and to be honest, why he has not become a major US head liner is beyond me, maybe he doesn't want it but he can carry any character. I read a review on here about a Robert Redford movie called "The Company we Keep" with a who's who of star power and a reviser said "Robert slips in to any role and was a star" well when I watched it, Robert was Robert, excluding Robert's earlier work he is and portrays to be Robert in every movie I see him in where Alex Dimitriades could play anything. Add to that some very good Aussie talent in what I will describe as a new comer as his only work was prior to 2008 and only 3 however Rahel Romahn as Tarek is amazing, even scary if he was type cast, what an amazing emotive experience he like Alex are true professionals in their art. I have to mention so many in this film as I don't believe any contributor let down the TV series, a great Australian Series and that is from someone that sees "Australian Made" and tend to run but there are so many amazing TV Series, TV Movies coming out of OZ I am a convert. Other actors/actress that I need to mention are Deborah Kennedy, Mirrah Foulkes, Di Adams but so many more, too many to write. Although I am wondering if Andrea Demetriades is a typo on purpose to distance a famous Alex Dimitriades? Swapping and I for an E? But I must say I don't think there was a bad performance in this series and wish I could write more singling out every actor in this great watch.

A bad attempt at remaking classics
23 September 2015
I clicked on the IMDb to see a review average of 7 and as I had not much time I decided to watch it based on a 7 out 10, pretty good, I love Sc-Fi and the brief plot summary at the top sounded good. I was very sadly mistaken. This is an attempt at remaking the Japanese classics of the 60's that I have found memory of watching as a young boy and even now when they run them late at night I watch them.

This film seemed to take parts from many films. It tries to meld the topics of many of the 60's Japaneses greats like Godzilla and Godzilla Vs Gamora but with a more mature cast.

The acting is either well over acted or well underacted, even the extras are over acting which gives the case of very poor direction and the story line is as bad as the acting.

Some people reviews this stating they needed to watch this in the mind of a 10 year old, well I agree to a certain extent, the difference is even at my age now I can happily watch the 60's greats many times over and enjoy them, this I would not want to see ever again.

It just didn't make it on any level. I am trying not to give anything away but it does not meet any criteria of a Sc-Fi let alone just a decent movie.

I would even think kid's of today would expect more than this delivers so I wouldn't even show it to any children.

A total waste of my time and this is the first bad review I have written but feel that as some how it has received a 7, someone really needs to bring it back into perspective.

A Great Tribute and great film
20 September 2015
Just finished watching this moving tribute to a great of the Music, Theatre industry a movie that gives people more insight into the great achievements of Peter Allen. Even as a fellow Australian I didn't realise all the songs he wrote for so many successful artists.

That said the filmmaker takes you on an emotional ride that presents so honestly, you could be hearing it straight from Peter's mouth.

The scenery and film direction is a true picture of Australia (well for those scenes in Australia). The acting and cast were great and Joel Jackson as Peter Allen really gave the movie the energy that Peter Allen brought to everything he did along with numerous great performances to name a few, Sara West, Sigrid Thornton, Lucy Honigman . A wonderful heartwarming film worth watching, buying on DVD and keeping.

I read the review from user (Michael Radny (Perth, Australia)) all I can say is this person must be a homophobia as they state "who cares about the dead) well I do, Pablo Picasso, Mozart, Winston Churchill and that is to name lees than 1% of the people who have been a part of making the world a better place as did Peter Allen.

Decent action picture without the Hollywood over hype
1 September 2015
I watched this movie some weeks ago and noted it was showing on TV again. As the description referred to another movie with the same characters, I opened the IMD to read the plot to ensure it was not the one I had seen. I found it was the one I had seen and it received a very low score from fellow IMDb members. I think it is undeserving of such a low mark, yes it is an action movie which is not everyone's cup of tea, and I do not watch the standard beef/hemen that churn out action movie after action movie etc etc with little aptitude for acting or even a decent script.

This movie was action however it was done with a little more flair than the average, it had a believable story of the future that seems all too real the way the world is going and the two lead actors were very believable and fit to say the least.

It was a very pleasurable movie to watch, no it is not going to take you to the extremes of all your emotions and senses, it is just a nice movie to watch with talented actors and stunts. I only speak English so I had to gauge the mood while reading subtitles and I still thought it was worth watching and I would watch it again.

Reasonable copy of a Swedish TV Series Script 2012
3 August 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I see many people voting this up high and if it is the first time you have seen this TV Series which is a copy/remake of the original made in Sweden in January 2012 called "Real Humans" which was a great 10/10 for me. I have just stumbled on this show being aired in Australia on the 3rd of August, 2015. I didn't like the way it started as it seems they have merged several episodes (maybe chopped/changed/add now/take out later) from the original Swedish script. I really hope they cover all the parts that are missing from the first episodes of the original Swedish version, as it will lose a lot makes the Hubots/Synth's the storyline They have kept all the same names so far, including what I will say is names not accustomed to Uk, Australia etc, except the robots in the Swedish version are called "Hubots" were in this English copy they are called "Synth's".

I loved the Swedish TV Series (I do not speak any other language besides English so had to make do with subtitles). Maybe I am a little harsh on the first episode of "Humans" however people who read books and then see the movie are often disappointed and as I have seen the original, I am let down by the first episode of "Humans".

No spoilers from me but even if this copy of the original "Real Humans" then it is worth watching the series. It has Romance, racism, spy type plots, human relations all the things you would find in a normal life excepting the focus for all the sub headings of plot style are based around the different "Synth's".

A soul searching Documentary
24 July 2015
It is very hard to put into words the emotions that this Documentary brings up within oneself. It is a journey of a man who finds more to his life in a small Indian (India) community of people living with HIV/AIDS.

I give this film a 10 out of 10 and that is a first for me because this film took me on their journey in a way I have never experienced before. It is not a high budget epic but I defy anyone not to be captivated, moved and taken on the same journey by it.

My congratulations to Rocky Ana for his honesty and genuine/loving soul and for his friend Steven Ana for being so truthful about his feelings which I know a lot of other people would feel like him.

And thank you for making this film so I have had the privilege to watch it. Maybe we will get an update on Rocky Ana and Steven Ana and the lives they touch in India.

Very well written, acted and filmed
28 July 2014
This is my third review in as many years. I was channel surfing just before I was going to bed and I chanced on this film. I do not like reviews that are novels within their own right so I will be brief.

Acting from the 3 main players, excellent. A moving story of how one issue is dealt with by different people in different ways. An emotional journey of love, drama and physiological issues. As for cinematography, well the film is so well written and the actors so well cast, your view is on the people portrayed in this film, the surrounding excluding a few poignant inanimate objects that are part of the film story, are made relevant without the loss of the actors integrity.

Easy to follow story that keeps you intrigued and glued to watching the film until the end, as it did for me keeping me up until 3 A.M.

I will watch again, as being a foreign film, I am sure I will pick up more on the second viewing and it is worth watching twice either way.

Mocumentry
29 March 2014
This is a very interesting Mocmentry of the Jewish history over the years as per Mr Schama. I enjoyed the history of this series however by the third episode I found Mr. Schama to be the, well "everyone in history has beaten up Jews", if Mr. Schama could be a little more reportive rather then, it seems asking anyone watching this program for an apologie. I do not condone war, genocide of any race or religion however I think a TV series should report the facts and not make the viewer want to switch off because it is a world that beats Jews. The first 2 episodes were not like the third as in they were factual and good reporting were as by the third episode, I found it more of a political/religious statement rather than an unbiased reporter giving the facts with passion rather someone that realistically wants to petition people to aplogise for the horrors of the past. Mr Schama needs to stay a reporter or a protester and reflect this in his Mocumentaries. Worth watching. It was informative. I say Mocumetrey rather than Documentary as to me a reporter of a Documentary is un- biased, Mr, Schama is far from unbiased but to me asks for an apologie from the viewer. There is so much horror in human past and even present of many peoples but for a documentary this needs to be unbiased. As I have said worth watching if by the time you get to the third episode, I wont watch anymore from Mr. Schama unless he can be a reporter rather than a person too close to the subject matter.
