Joker (2019)
WOW! A TRUE MASTERPIECE.
I wasn't expecting the treat that I got from this film. In my humble opinion, it should have received the 'Best film Oscar' I've seen 'Judy' and '1917' 'Hollywood' but 'Joker' wins by a mile.
Satan's Harvest (1970)
I thought the film stank. In fact I only purchased it for the singing of Matt Monro with some guest appearances.
I bought this film out of curiosity. I am a Matt Monro fan and never knew that he taken up acting. He fares rather well in this preposterous film which starred George Montgomery & Tippi Hendry.
In a Heartbeat (2014)
A REAL 100% TIME WASTER.
What an awful waste of time. Second rate acting from all concerned and the plot, if you can call it that, made no sense whatsoever. It appeared to me that the actors, if you can call them that, were ad-libbing their lines or making it up as they went along. Give this a definite miss. It is a bucket full of tripe.
Dunkirk (2004)
A fine film that kept me engrossed.
I found this film to be educational. I learned a lot of facts that I never knew existed. The scenes with Churchill and his advisers were hypnotic. The acting was touching and down to earth. I am now looking forward to the new rendering of 'Dunkirk'(2017) armed with the knowledge from this remarkable film.
Trance (2013)
It put me in a trance.
The film started off great.Typical Danny Boyle. Both my wife and I thought it was going to be a classic. The wife dozed off half way through it, suffering from bewilderment. When she awoke asked me to explain what had happened so far. To be honest, I had no idea.....I hadn't a clue. It was more like a jig-saw with lots of pieces missing than a straight forward movie. Sorry, Danny boy but for me, it was a No-no.
World War Z (2013)
A forgettable two hours of viewing
In my humble opinion, I thought the whole film was daft. Never really had any proper excitement. It was noisy, jumbled up and very shallow. The Zombies were pussy cats as too were most of the characters. The one thing that interested me was the casting of Peter Capaldi, he was cast as a W.H.O. Doctor in Wales. My verdict, Don't waste your time.
The Hatton Garden Job (2017)
Disappointing for me. I expected much better.
First off was the sound quality. I watched this film late at night and had to lower it up and down so as to not wake the neighbours with the dreadful music. Secondly, most of it was fiction and silly fiction at that.Thirdly, it looked very amateurish to me and finally it was a bit boring too. Let's hope the new version in production, holds a bit more excitement.
Waco (1966)
Western with plenty of surprise guests
I liked this film because by accident I tuned into it about five minutes after it had started so I had missed all the introductions and had no idea at all who would be starring in it. Wow! It turned out to be a who's who of Hollywood B Stars and I had great fun in spotting them as they popped up on the screen. Towards the end of the film my biggest surprise was the old villain of many movies Brian Donlevy turning up all in black as an old gunfighter. Although we never get to see his fast draw as he high-tails it out of town at the first sign of trouble. Fuzzy Knight, Robert Lowery, Gene Evans, Wendell Corey, Jane Russell and a non singing Howard Keel. Definitely worth a watch.
