Lioness (2023)
Compelling to the max
I honestly am not sure if it at character driven or just great acting. There is something about this that is magnetic. Literally at the end of every episode I can't recall anything significant that happens but I can't stop watching. It's either incredible acting or some compelling story telling. Nicole kidman is magnetic. Only in a few scenes each episode and she commands attention. Zoey is unbelievable. Maybe the best she had acted. I can't pinpoint what is great about this but I can't stop watching!
Slow burn with great acting, great character development, and compelling story telling. Highlight recommend.
Life Is Strange 2 (2018)
More options required
This game has some massive highs and rock bottom moments. For the most part, the responses are appropriate to what I would normally choose all but one thing. There needs to be an option to just smack Daniel in the head. If this were an option I would be using it 90% of the time!
The character of the younger brother is so annoying at times that I almost had to stop playing. I found myself telling at the tv at the character. I wanted to have an option so badly to just beat the crap out of him as that is what I would have actually done if it were my bro in the same situations they were put in.
One of the most frustratingly annoying characters I've ever experienced in any game and I am not sure who on earth thought a game surrounding a precocious annoying little kid would be a good idea, without the option to punch him in the face.
The Flash (2023)
Very mixed feelings
Here is the good...
Keaton's return as batman was awesome. When the Tim Burton soundtrack started playing in the bat cave I got goosebumps. I loved the cameos from all the past Superman's, and some Batman's.
The storyline of flashpoint is one of my favourites so sadly I had high expectations, especially since we already have a cartoon movie called Flashpoint. The only scene that I thought was strangely so moving and well done was the scene in the supermarket with the mother. Sadly one scene in a whole film is not enough to get a great score.
Bad news...
The cartoon craps over this film. In story telling. And that's not good. The CGI was shockingly bad. During the scene where he goes back in times and gets booted out of the time force, I actually laughed and I don't think it was meant to be funny. The CGI was that bad. Ezra plays this character like he is special needs. I don't understand it at all. At times it was almost unwatchable at how annoying a character he was.
The film seemed disjointed at parts and had so much potential. I wanted so so much more for this film and was left very underwhelmed and disappointed.
Overall, I recommend watching flashpoint the cartoon.
Special (2019)
Ryan is an a-hole
Is it just me or are we meant to root for Ryan cause it's hard when he is so selfish and such an a-hole. If this is based off his life, yikes. Poor bloke.
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021)
No horror in this horror
It's more a drama than a horror. I wanted scares and thrills and this delivered none. It had zero scares. It's a decent film, just not a horror.
Army of the Dead (2021)
It takes skill to make a zombie film boring
I hate writers who create characters so annoying that you want to turn the film off. Congrats. You succeeded. The daughter is annoying AF!
The plot is nonsensical which I can forgive if the film was scary, fast paced, interesting or action packed. It was NONE of these things! Cliched. Boring. Stupid.
Every person makes stupid decisions. Every person is unlikeable. And somehow it takes 2.5 hours to tell a mediocre story with unwatchable characters that no one cares about.
I started giving this a 4 but by the time I wrote this I've downgraded it to a 3.
Nobody (2021)
Glorious fun
This was a combo of john wick meets home alone in a spectacular combination that I never knew I needed but I sure as hell did.
Mindhunter (2017)
What the?!
I just found out this stopped after season 2. What the hell?! It's so amazing, engaging, well written, directed and edited. I'm so sad this isn't moving on to season 3.
Chaos Walking (2021)
Read the book
The film was not bad but it made me love the genius of the books so much more! Read them.
The Empty Man (2020)
The felt like a LONG film
It started great. I wished they kept going with the beginning storyline. After the first 20 minutes the film flips the switch to super slow. 2 hours and 16 minutes. Half way through I had to check if there was only 10 mins remaining but no no. A full hour was still pending. I also found at no point was I scared in any way. So it's a fail for me.
Ava (2020)
Worst ending ever
It was a solid 6/10 before the final fight scene. It was just so bad. Simon just walks off. With no car. No back up. It just makes zero sense and took away from the whole film. John Malkovich is incredible as usual. He is why it is a solid 6 until the end. If they removed the whole Michael storyline it may even have been a 7/10.
The Craft: Legacy (2020)
Makes less sense the more you think on it
This was like a really long episode of charmed. But, a bad episode. One you never want to see again. Plus, the more I think on it, the more it makes less sense and makes me appreciate the firSt film... And charmed.
Helstrom (2020)
Who do you root for when everyone is just the worst?
Where to start? Literally no one character is likeable. 4 EPs in and I'm bored, angry, exhausted at watching this show. Siblings with powers and yet no brain between the two. A nun that is a nun in training so obviously the Vatican sends her to fight the worst evil ever. Makes sense? A mental facility that is clearly illegal and run by people that no one cares about, even when she has cancer. Could not care less. I mean, how crap is your character when bad things happen and you just don't care? There is a weird scene with a gay cop. Why? Overall i would rather watch my toe nails grow as they have more personality than anyone on this show.
Warrior Nun (2020)
Enough with the teen angst crap lazy writing
Half the whole series is her being annoying as hell and running from everyone. This could have been amazing. It is not.
Onward (2020)
I cried
I found this very touching, emotional, and quite beautiful.
Morgan (2016)
No one is THAT stupid
Who writes this crap? The characters are written to be so utterly stupid and inept. Aren't they all Doctors? Aren't they meant to be the brightest of their time? No one in their right mind would behave the way they have written them in this film and as a result, the whole film is one long frustratingly stupid movie to watch. I was literally yelling at the screen for someone to actually behave like you would if a serious threat was coming at you.
The premise is basically the same as Ex-Machina but at least that film didn't write everyone as a complete moron!
If you want your sanity, stay away from this film!
