Most of the movie was kinda okay, although some drama definitely felt forced. The actors in general did a good job. The story itself was not all that good, I would have just given it a passing grade a 5.5, so on IMDB a 6.
The main reason I would have given it a 5.5 because it was way too predictable or the few times it was not it felt a bit forced. I can't give any clear examples too consolidate my arguments as that would mean spoiling parts of the movie. If you have seen plenty of movies, this movie will feel predictable for the most part. Still as it was it was okayish.
However the ending of a movie can make it or break it many times. This ending felt like the easy way out. Almost like they were scared to offend people if they had chosen 1 of 2 two options, death or life. An open ending can be very powerful and good but it just didn't fit the moment they left it in.
An amazing example of an open ending and how it should be done is, "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri". The daughter wasn't that amazing to begin with. However if you then decide to end the movie in such a way, then you just ruin it completely.
It left me with a feeling like I listened to someone telling a long story without any meaning to it. Basically the movie is a joke because it has no punchline, if you like this kind of movie so should search for "jokes without punchline".
This is a story that should remain in the circles of gossiping (wo)men when they don't really have anything better to do. It just didn't belong on the screen, at least not it's current shape and form.
Maybe someone will redo the movie and make it a nice movie that would be worth a 7 or an 8 but not as it stands. Do understand that the actors were definitely doing a good job nonetheless someone's performance can not fix something that's just not good enough.
