Invasion (2005)
I want more
Now is the end of the last episode here in the Netherlands and I don't want to believe it will not be continued! This is the best series made in the USA in a long time. I liked Lost too but I would be happy to exchange a 3rd series of Lost for a 2nd on Invasion. The story is smartly put together the characters are nicely detailed. Good actors, no standard heroes, good background stories, just the right amount of mystery. I loved how the character of the sheriff revealed it's secrets as it developed from the suspicious may-be-alien to a person for that I was biting my fingernails off. I am very sensitive to logical story telling and character building and this series was one of the few during which I don't remember saying (apart from the first episode when I could not understand Rose's behavior) "nobody would act like that". I really hope that one day maybe due to an international success or I don't know what, they will continue the story, it is painfully left open. Please, I want more!!
Sacra Corona (2001)
It was good to be a Hungarian
Sacra Corona was a very nice surprise for me after my disappointment over Koltay's previous film the Honfoglalas. The first few minutes seem to be indeed a bit "out of place" at first sight - I didn't know where to put the silent pictures. However, the film becomes more and more exciting as the story goes on. At least it became for me. I was satisfied with the acting too. The three main characters had memorable scenes. Of course the battle scenes could have been mare spectacular, they cannot challenge those of the huge budget Hollywood pictures. (Also the amount of money spent on the making of the movie cannot be compared to the Hollywood movies' with or without government support.) I am happy that this film was made. It was a good feeling to be a Hungarian during watching it.
