Sous les bombes (2007)
A must see for all "firstworlders"
There at several superlatively excellent reviews here already, I won't outline the film. Simply put, this movie is an absolute must see for All Americans.
Since unfortunately we seem to be the taxpayers often funding the initiators of these sort of military situations and yet we have never had a war on our land in over a century.
Careful of the explicit sex scene in the hotel if you show it to 17 and under.
Barakah yoqabil Barakah (2016)
Must-see this culturally relevant film.
Barakah yoqabil Barakah (Blessing meets Blessing) is an utterly delightful, 70-80% accurate, indie romp through the pitfalls of modern day Saudi youths ' romantic lives. I highly recommend it as a lighthearted, uplifting comedy with a touch of poignency. As an experienced American English teacher, who has taught females in KSA, in 4 different cities, as well as tutored young Saudi males at An American University for a couple of years, combined with being old enough myself to remember seeing the historical television clips of a different time in Arabic cultural history, I feel confident that I am making an accurate assessment relative to KSA juxtaposed with other cultures, in the Middle East & all over the world. Although a touch cartoonish at times, a really entertaining enjoyable RomCom with a true butterflies eye view. Ten stars.
Jerusalem in Line (2015)
a documentary into a revealing aspect of life for PAlestinians
The Situation in ISrael always seems incredibly confused and no matter how I try to understand the history of the past 80 years, i just don't feel like it makes much sense. I saw this Film at the Ellensburg Film Festival in October 2016. I feel and understand now, much more about the situation for the PAlestinians in East Jerusalem there. Furthermore, having met the director a the film festival, i felt that he was very sincere and altruistic spirit who wants good for humanity and was attempting to reveal a ethical and accurate picture of life for those people, and yet to do it in a lively and entertaining manner, with content that was sometimes quite sad in truth. An excellent insightful film that shows a vivid portrait of a slice of life in East Jerusalem for Palestinians who are residents without the ability to vote , or even "exist" as citizens. (one man accidentally had twins and after more than a year the child's existence still had not been recognized with a BIRth CERTIFICATE!!!)
