Surprisingly good
31 August 2014
I honestly wasn't expecting much when I started watching this movie. It seemed like another cliché chick flick that I would cringe my way through, but, although it was very cliché, the acting was good, the characters were believable, and the way the movie portrayed high school was often spot on. There were also more than a few unique spots throughout the movie where I couldn't help but think "Wow, that's actually pretty clever". The movie did have many faults; Certain important plot points were skimmed over, it got incredibly cheesy at the end, etc., but these didn't distract from the pretty good writing and cliché-without-being-too-cliché vibe it gave out. If you're looking for something meaningful, this isn't for you. But, if you want a fun chick flick that pulls at your heartstrings a little bit, then go right ahead.

Doctor Who: Nightmare in Silver (2013)

A rip-off of the Borg in Star Trek
13 November 2013
Warning: Spoilers
The cybermen in this episode are a complete rip-off of the Borg in Star Trek. Replace "upgrade" with "assimilate" and they're exactly the same. How he gets the cyberman out of his head is overwhelmingly stupid as well; It just isn't believable that he could pick up the device and re-vamp it without the cyberman part of his brain noticing something was up. My least favorite Doctor Who episode yet, even after the one about dinosaurs on a spaceship. 4 stars because Matt Smith is brilliant, even with the ridiculous plot, and because all the others did a great job with what they were given. This is also the first episode I've really had problems with, and I'm hoping this is the last.

The Suite Life Movie (2011 TV Movie)

Good up until the end
29 September 2013
Warning: Spoilers
The plot was cute and believable up until the end. Basically, this movie was focused on the constant tension between the twins, AKA Cody's constant know-it-all attitude and Zack's slacker, let's-disrupt-everything personality. In this movie, it comes to a boil when Zack kills Cody's summer internship opportunity and Cody declares "We may be twins, but we aren't brothers". Zack finds a new internship, though: Once focused on the relationship between twins. At this internship, they eat this "magic fruit" that allows them to feel what the other is feeling, mentally and physically, which inevitably fixes their relationship.

Of course.

This is where things get weird: The scientist running the entire thing has a master plan of making a set of twins have one mind, and then making each set of twins able to be controlled by one mind. It ends up with the Sprouse twins randomly being able to read each others minds, the other twins coming after them, zombie-like, while chanting "Get Zack and Cody", and then them being strapped to these tables that supposedly causes their minds to merge into one.

While this is happening, the other kids from the ship and the scientist who controlled Cody's original internship somehow manage to sneak into the lab without any of the zombie twins stopping them, and we find out that the evil scientist and the other internship scientist are twins! And the mad scientist had these weird skin masks that allowed him to change his face at will! Before we find this out, though, the machine is turned out and Zack and Cody's "souls" come out of them and have an epic floating fight about who's brain should be dominant. Supposedly, their fighting breaks the machine and the scientists figure out their problems and Bailey lassos the mad scientist and Mr. Mosbey shows up just in time with the police to save everyone.

And they live happily ever after, the end.

One thing I have to give the Sprouse twins is that they did a good job with the ridiculous plot they were given. Even with the stupid lines and odd antics and just overall weirdness, their characters were believable. Cringe-worth, but believable.

6/10, for the good beginning and good acting.

That '70s Show (1998–2006)

Perfection until the 8th season
17 July 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Disregarding the final season, this show is my favorite sitcom of all time. All the actors worked well together to make the punch lines come on time and cause me to giggle every time. They all played their characters to near perfection, and I was impressed during every episode.

The final season is the reason it's not getting a 10/10. Topher Grace and Ashton Kutcher leave the show, and a new guy who can barely say his lines takes their place. Then there's also the fact that the writers seemed to get lazy and all the humor became irritating and stupid. I barely made it to the end.

Dance Academy (2010–2013)

First season is good, second season is excellent
20 February 2013
If I could rate the two seasons separately, I would rate the first one 7-8 stars and the second twenty billion. The second season is when all the actors really settle into their characters, and the writers seem to get a feeling of exactly what a drama show is. And believe me when I tell you, there is plenty of it. The last few episodes were especially excellent with the tragedy I will not mention, but the writers and the actors portray it perfectly which is what really convinced me how amazing this show is. The dancing is amazing, too, and you can easily tell that the actors know how to dance and weren't just taught the basics a few months before shooting. The writers also really understand how teenagers act and talk and feel and what they do in their free time. Basically, don't quit with the first season. The second one is where you really get addicted.

Better than all the other shows like it
23 December 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I started watching it on Hulu when a girl from my hometown won season 3. I loved the idea of the blind auditions, but I wish that the judges couldn't converse before pressing their button, but it definitely takes away some of the bias. The announcer irritates me, though. They should seriously get someone new. All the singers can sing on the show, which is definitely a plus. Sometimes the judges make a wrong choice, and at least in season three I don't think the right person was chosen to win, but they can still sing. Yes, they make mistakes, and they are pop/rock/etc. singers so their intonation and all the stuff that matters to classical singers are often a little off, but they love what they do and so I can't help but enjoy it.

Triple Dog (2010)
7/10
Not that bad
8 September 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I don't understand all the bad reviews. Yes, it is predictable, and the acting is only okay, but if you're looking for something kind of light and a little silly, this is it. There are also a lot of complaints about the writing, but the lines are actually pretty accurate to how teens talk. I guess this is more of a teenage girl-type movie.

It starts out with Eve's birthday party. Three "Popular" girls are there, along with the school's "rat freak" and a transfer student from another school, Chapin. No one knows exactly why she was kicked out of her old school, except that is has to do with a freak accident involving a girl falling, being pushed, or jumping off a bridge, depending on who you asked.

They proceed to begin a game of Triple dog, an exaggerated version of Truth or dare where there are no truth questions allowed, only extreme dares. They then drive around the city and do a bunch of different dares, ranging from streaking to faking a seizure in a public place. This part gets a little tedious, but it is necessary to the whole plot.

Every once in a while there is a flashback to a few days before, and there are flashbacks to the night of the freak accident, portraying the different versions of how it happened.

We eventually find out what happened, and it is entirely predictable, but still sweet and kind of sad. Not Oscar-worthy, but still a cute little movie.

Heroes (II) (2006–2010)

First season is incredible, the rest kind of suck.
2 August 2012
This would have gotten a nine out of ten if it weren't for the second and third seasons. I started watching it after I heard my cousin talking about it, saying it was awesome and addicting. And I can agree to that, for the first season at least. It was one of those rare shows that gives you almost an adrenaline rush as you watch it because it is so amazing.

I got excited when I finished it and started off on the second season, but it was disappointing. I kept watching onto halfway through the third season, and then I gave up on it because it had become so different, and worse than the first season.

If you were to watch it, only watch the first season and stop after that.

Well this sucks.
2 August 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I'm a sixteen year old girl, and I watched the first few seasons when I had nothing better to do one summer. Even then I thought it sucked. The acting is stilted and unbelievable, the story line, which is supposed to be about teenagers, is extremely untrue, and I just feel like banging my head against a wall every time I watch it because of how stupid it really is. None of the characters are acting how they're personalities are supposed to make them, like how Amy dresses like a slut half the time even though she's supposed to be an innocent little band nerd. Plus, no one gets married in high school, even if they did get someone pregnant. Honestly? I don't see how someone can like this show.
