The Boys: Glorious Five Year Plan (2022)
Dark times we're living in...
Man, this one gets dark. This may be the "Empire Strikes Back" of The Boys continuum. I mean that not only in the "phenomenal transitional piece" way, which it certainly is, but also the "okay, the bad guys may legitimately win this" way.
The Boys are on their last leg. The worst side of Hughie is coming out. Homelander is making key move after key move in his chess match with Edgar/Annie/Maeve. A semi-significant character (who, by the way, I think they handled masterfully with his fake love comment) just got slaughtered. Soldier Boy is back and possibly an anti-supe formula. Neuman is team Homelander (for now). So much is happening.
This is a big one, and one of the best episodes of the show, after only the S2 finale, in my opinion. Well done, and I'll be anxiously awaiting the next installment.
The Boys: Barbary Coast (2022)
Continuing the Drama of the New Ride of a Season
A bit less wild than the previous episode, but definitely still some major highlights and plot points. Also, every episode I wonder how this one will be darker than the last. And every time, it gets darker. But, as per usual, in The Boys's classic, wild way. Excellent directing and acting. I just wish I didn't have to wait a week for the next episode.
The Boys: The Only Man in the Sky (2022)
Possibly even better than the first episode
Don't get me wrong, the first episode was a phenomenal start to the season. But, it was a bit transitory between the feelings and "high" the Boys were riding at the end of last season and the renewed tension for this one. This one sets things really in gear. Multiple major, character-defining moments as well as excellent action and badass visuals. This season will be fun.
