Tiger King (2020)
No Good People
A documentary series about a delusional redneck, a sociopathic cult leader, and a psychopathic activist. All of these people are horrible, but god the train wreck of their lives are so entertaining. This reality TV-style garbage people but you can't look away and you can't believe these people are real.
Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker (2019)
A solid low budget attempt
Really solid production design in this. I forgive the Batman Beyond costume because of the budget, very impressive for its type. The thing that I think was the absolute standout was the actor who played The Joker. I thought the director had dubbed him with Mark Hamill's dialogue, but he's just that fantastic. Overall, solid effort.
13 Reasons Why: Bye (2018)
GET OVER YOURSELF
If your issue with 13 Reasons Why Season 2 is the scene in the bathroom with Tyler, get over yourself. That shows the mental states of those kids and you should be outraged about what happened to that character because that type of stuff happens today. That very end was set up for two seasons and they resolved that with a superb twist. Do I think Clay is the biggest idiot on Earth? Yes! He should not have played hero but look at what he just did. He saved the lives of everyone at that school. This show did a great job of extending the story and expanding it to give you deep character development and shows that there is multiple sides to a story. Hannah wasn't perfect. No one is. Does that make what she did invalid or the problems that led her to it irrelevant? Absolutely not. This was a good episode of television and everyone criticizing the show for "dismantling the characters", the mop scene alone or the "triggering" near-school shooter scene, you are missing the point of the season and the series entirely.
Rise (2018)
Rising Up in Pop Culture Status?
Is Rise a Glee Clone? Not exactly. While it hits a ton of the same story beats, it finds new and interesting things to do to make it fun to watch. Moana star Auli'i Cravalho shines as a Rachel Berry foil, giving the show new focus and new beats. Is Robbie just like a rapping Finn? Yes. There are similarities, but the shifted focus onto musical theater rather than glee club adds new weight and relatability, as does the new setting. The new characters are fresh figures to follow and overall, this show carries a more mature and modern tone. It feels grittier, yet still holds an uplifting tone. It's the poor man's Glee and boy is it fun. Rise is a fun show that has a future. So what if it's sort of like Glee? There's a Glee shaped hole in TV and Rise fills that spot nicely.
