I was lucky it was free

This movie's only saving grace is at least you get to see a hot redhead naked and the excessive way beyond the call of duty overacting by Christopher Piggins is actually comical even when he's being serious.

The plot is very simplistic as it borrows from Ghost Story (a much better film) with a Rennissance fair made real to boot. The script is just well plain and boring.

The special effects show off the budget. If not for the nudity you might see this on MST3K or as a Sci-Fi channel late night movie .I was lucky in a sense because i worked as an assistant manager in a video rental store when this came out and got to see this for free but somehow i still feel like i paid.

Even my kids hated this atrocity
27 June 2005
Really lame toilet jokes and third rate cgi tormented by horribly wooden acting (these guys make Keanu look like Oscar potential) throw that in with a crate of Velveeta and you've got this utter waste of time.

With a plot (if you can call it that) that is a rip off of The Wizard of Oz (kid goes to a fantasy world where everyone is a representation of people that kid interacts with)and a few kids books and one or two graphic novels (a kid dreaming up super heroes who become real is not even a remotely new concept). The movie tries really hard to get you interested in the characters but you just can't, even when Lavagirl or Sharkboy are in danger the overall response is apathy. The humor was received in the very same way no groans no anything.

Most of the adults in the theater i saw it in had to be woken up by their kids when it was over perhaps the best summation comes from the mouth of my 8 year old who said "That was the most boring adventure movie i ever saw.".

Sorry Mr. Rodriguez but you can put glitter (in this case 3D) on a pile of manure and it's still a pile of manure.

Explanations here..
22 September 2004
You ninnyhammers it's not a laserwhip it's a monomolecular coil. That's why it glows because it's so thin it reflects light. They should have explained this i know but only experienced cyberpunk junkies would know this.

Keanu was wooden in this performance because he had to be his character is after all very tired and in lots of pain as was Keanu. Longo did reshoot after reshoot to the point where the whole cast was agitated.

Cyberpunk is one genre that is hard to do in the movies. Anime has done it fairly successfully with "Ghost In The Shell" being perhaps the best cyberpunk movie of all time.

This movie was given a budget and it shows but it is a valiant effort to bring cyberpunk to the general public.

Ghost Story (1981)
Not Very Terrifying But Very Spooky
9 August 2004
"Ghost Story" is one of those horror movies that chooses spooky over gory and for that it has been teased a lot but let us not get into a "what real horror is" rant but talk about a good horror movie that could have been great.

"Ghost Story" came out just before "slasher" movies got big so it's one of the only smart scary movies to come out in the early 80's. It has a veteran cast of actors plus a younger Alice Kreig who steals the show (and not just because of the various nude scenes either). It's a hacked up version of a big book by Peter Straub but still a good story of a mystery woman who is not what she seems in a tale of revenge from beyond the grave....naked. If you liked "Thirteen Ghosts" or "Ghost Ship" you may well like "Ghost Story".

Don't watch it expecting your blue jeans to turn brown just enjoy it for what it is a good "ghost story". The DVD version will be re-released by Universal 09/07/04.
