Ted Lasso (2020)
Joyous!
Just a really nice show that oozes humanity and decency and fun. I love that it doesn't take itself too seriously and that the actors all seem be enjoying themselves.
I had put off watching this show for a long time, thinking that it would have nothing to appeal to me. I have been hooked since episode one.
It's not really a show all about football - if it was I wouldn't have made it past episode one. Football acts as a platform to bring the ensemble cast and their different characters and story arcs together.
The Mitchells vs the Machines (2021)
A lot of fun
There was a lot of heart and a great story behind this movie. One of our favourite cartoons.
The Professor and the Madman (2019)
Engaging historical drama
A dramatic retelling of the story behind the creation of the Oxford English Dictionary.
This movie was more than I expected. I was prepared for it to be about as interesting as watching paint dry and found myself engrossed in the story.
Gibson and Penn were strong leads and backed up by an excellent supporting cast.
Yesterday (2019)
Could have been great
The original premise of the movie was fantastic - only one man knows that The Beatles ever existed and brings their music to the world.
It could have been really really great. Unfortunately the idea was under developed, it felt as if the film's makers weren't quite sure what to do with it.
It ended up being "nice" and "sweet" when it could have been brilliant.
The Little Hours (2017)
Truly horrible
With such a good cast this movie should be much better. It was truly horrible - hammy acting, almost non-existent script, no humour..
Without reading the bio first, from the way the film started I thought this would be an Italian language film from the 70s. It would have been better if it had been!
After reading review from some of the professional reviewers I have to wonder if I watched the same film.
