Box (2019)
Creepy short film
What's the worst thing you've ever done in life? How bad was it? Do you ever fear it coming back to haunt you? These questions and more are what's explored in Box, a creepy, atmospheric and moving short film by Lee Thongkham. Jimmy Dempster stars as a man who has a run-in one night with a knife-wielding masked assailant. After killing his attacker, he, in a state of fright and shock, dumps the body in the middle of nowhere. Upon returning home he discovers a mysterious wooden chest. What is this box and who left it? He seems to have a supernatural connection to the box as it starts revealing dark secrets about him. Box is a very well-made short that works as a nice little throwback to horror TV shows like The Hitchhiker and Friday the 13th the Series and even somewhat has a story structure and elements common in a lot of old Twilight Zone episodes but done in a much darker, modern horror style. Don't go in expecting a gorefest though as it's a story that doesn't require lots of blood and guts. Overall, an entertaining 30-minute short that I recommend checking out if you get the chance.

Opening the Mind (2019)
A 17 year journey finally completed
"Open your $&@?!#% mind" the film said. Open your mind indeed. Because that seemingly normal man you see walking down the street isn't all he appears to be. Enter Adrian Sims, your average fashion photographer. Adrian harbors dark secrets. The film opens Adrian's mind to bring you on a nightmarish journey. On that journey, unsuspecting models meet ghastly ends via Adrian's straight razor, earning him the title "The Straight Man." Open your mind to opening Adrian's mind and see what horrors spill out in this reality twisting horror masterpiece from MagGot Films. Started by Michael Todd Schneider as a production with Toe Tag Pictures in 2003, Opening the Mind was put on hiatus after Michael split with Toe Tag and went on to create MagGot Films and bring us works such as ...And Then I Helped and Let's Make... A Horror Movie. 17 years later, the final in-house MagGot production has seen completion and release at last. Starring Eric James as Adrian and featuring other underground horror veterans such as Alan Rowe Kelly and Jasi Cotton Lanier, Opening the Mind is the ultimate MagGot Films coup de grace. Congrats Michael on completing your magnum opus. Congrats to Eric and everyone else involved as well.
