Offseason (2021)
A disappointmen
Poor Jocelin Donohue is a competent actress, but this thin gruel of a pseudo-Lovcraftian script gives her little to do but mug wide eyed for the camera. Decide for yourself: Is her character Marie Aldrich (like 'eldritch', get it) more like Barbra ("They're coming to get you, Barbra") from Night of the Living Dead, or Mary Henry from Carnival of Souls? Or, heaven help her, Queen of the eye-bulge, Alma Moore from Shyamalan's execrable The Happening? Likewise, Joe Swanberg, Jeremy Gardner, and other cast members are wasted in the lazy scriptwriting. Far too many overlong shots of the main character running (although in a stylish outfit--thanks, costume department!) and not enough storytelling.
The Hamiltons (2006)
Whoever directed this should be sterilized
Utter garbage, written and directed by a 12 year old for whom English was a second language. Zero redeeming features. Technically and thematically abysmal.
Boys' Shorts: The New Queer Cinema (1993)
An admirable try, with one really good work
Marlon Riggs's Anthem (1990)
Stephen Cummins's Resonance (1991)
Laurie Lynd's R. S. V. P. (1991)
Christopher Newby's Relax (1991)
Michael Mayson's Billy Turner's Secret (1990)
Mark Christopher's The Dead Boys' Club (1992)
All are ok.
Christopher's The Dead Boys' Club is amazing.
