A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001)
A nice fairytale with a sci-fi twist
I can't think of this as a movie, but as a pleasant fairytale exposed as a graphical novel.
It is a nice mix of Pinocchio's drama as he adventures on his quest to become a real live boy and Isaac Asimov Andrew's ambition to make that happen, all for gaining his mother's love.
With a nice cinematography, storyline and cast, it kept wanting the next scene even more than the other.
I loved the fact that the most important details were in the scenes that seemed to matter least and it always tried to bring a tear of sorrow before a joyful or positive outcome.
Emotional, intriguing, special. A big thumbs up.
It (2017)
People can't stop comparing
I have heard and read a lot comparing the two versions of the film and arguing which one is better. I don't see a point in all that because each of them presents a different view of the novel (if you want something to compare, compare the film adaptation with the book).
The 1990 film provides a mysterious aspect of the situation. It was a wonderful and traumatizing story, while the 2017 version just released the horror. Each of them had different intentions. As for the clowns, Tim Curry did an excellent job with offering us a character that perfectly mixed the fun, jokes and games with an equal amount of psychosis, while Bill Skarsgård did the hungry for fear and mad creature which was intended for this horrific (in a good way) film.
Nevertheless, each of them had their goods and bads, and I consider them equal over all. I just hope that Chapter two (of the 2017 film) will not ruin this.
