The Creator (2023)
Cure worse than the disease.
Overall, I enjoyed this movie. The plot holes others have mentioned bothered me. For example, Joshua taking out about 10 AI police officers. That made them seem like not much of a threat. There are multiple points in the movie where someone could have killed Joshua and it would have aided their cause to do so, but they chose not to. No real explanation as to why.
My biggest issue is that this was presented as a happy ending. It is not. Nomad was the biggest weopon humans have against AI. To battle it, a growing, learning AI was created that eventually will be able to control all technology. This being could then rule the planet. Making all humans and AI her slave.
The Darkest Minds (2018)
Liked it, but with a couple of nitpicks.
Apparently, every child in the US contracts some contagion. 98% of them die. The other 2% develop abilities. The government rounds them all up and puts them in concentration camps separated by their power levels. The main character escapes and joins up with some other youths that are on the run. It is an interesting concept with likeable characters. Now, my nitpicks. The lowest power level is just enhanced intelligence. Why would they be locked up? Wouldn't they be better used to achieve scientific advancement? The movie explains that the economy tanked and most people moved to the big cities. Wouldn't the opposite be true? In order to survive, people would go to farming/ranching. The ending of the movie is clearly trying to set up a sequel. The lowest two power levels and the highest are mental based, but the two in between are not. Why?
To the Arctic 3D (2012)
disappointing
I was hoping for a nature documentary. Instead, I got a 40 minute climate change propaganda film.
Supergirl: For Good (2018)
Morgan Edge the victim?
I missed the first few episodes of this season where presumably they built up Morgan Edge as a bad guy. Watching this episode in seclusion, you could easily see him as the victimized innocent. The opening review scenes show Lena pointing a gun at him. His car is hacked and an attempt made on his life. Lena is poisoned and they assume Morgan did it even though they have no evidence to support that. A 2nd attempt is made on his life using a drone. The "good guys" offer to prevent his assassination only if he confesses to things they have no evidence he actually did.
Revolution (2012)
2 major plot issues
I liked the premise and it hooked me enough to watch the first half season, but I don't plan to watch any more. The show has 2 major plot problems that ruin the show for me. First, in order for the plot to work, the Monroe militia needs to be the near unbeatable bad guys. On the contrary, every time our heroes run into them, the heroes (most of whom have no combat training) are able to easily defeat them despite having less firepower and being outnumbered. This has made the militia seem like bumbling idiots. Second, while the militia are clearly not nice guys, the "heroes" we are supposed to be cheering for may be worse! Mom and dad worked for the company that built the machine that turned off the power. Mom appears to know how to turn the power back on. If she and her cohorts know how to turn the power back on and have chosen not to, then by the storyline, they are responsible for the deaths of billions of people! This makes them the biggest mass murderers in history!
