Well Done and Insane
2 October 2020
This documentary is a tale of insanity. I realize the phrase, "it was a different time," applies here to the extreme. Things we were allowed to do twenty years ago would never be acceptable in this day and age. Hindsight is 20/20, etc... That being said, it is difficult to hold back your judgement of the decisions made on behalf of the kids in this film. Every time I thought it couldn't get any more ridiculous it did. Things just kept getting crazier and crazier. I applaud the family for telling their tale, regardless of how the public would perceive them. I found this doc to be entertaining and exasperating.

Not What I Expected
2 October 2020
Some details are pretty quickly revealed, and they begin to paint a different picture than what the watcher originally thought was true. I loved watching the way the two characters interacted and trying to figure out what to believe. Both characters were compelling. This movie did not turn out how I expected and I loved the minimal scene changes. It gave the movie an intimate feel.

Right Up There With "A Child Called It"
2 October 2020
This doc was well done and I applaud the filmmaker/writer for all the research they did into such an awful case. This little boy suffered traumas that no child should ever know. His "parents" were worthless pieces of trash and showed absolutely zero redeeming qualities or remorse for their actions. Gabriel was a fighter and stronger than most. This is an extremely difficult doc to watch but if you can handle it I highly recommend.

Rape Culture and Keeping Your Head Down
2 October 2020
Well done doc about a small town that keeps its values in Christianity and football. The "good old boy" mentality was strong in the coach and how he appeared to protect his players from the evil wiles of a teenage girl who was too drunk to fight back. Watching the men cover up the situation over and over again was infuriating. All that being said, the doc was well done and appeared well researched. I highly recommend if you can stomach the the content.

Witty, Fast-Paced, McEnroe Narrates???!!!
18 May 2020
This show came as a huge surprise to me. I did not expect it to be so funny and charming. John McEnroe as a narrator is absolute gold! Even being long out of high school this show was relatable and made me and my husband laugh out loud every single episode. The family dynamic and cultural contrast is hard not to love. I find every character to be likable in one way or another and that's hard to come by in a large cast. A+

Debauchery
10 May 2020
I didn't think this movie was an amazing masterpiece but I didn't detest it either. it was simply a bit more than okay for me. The story fell a bit flat when I watched it. I enjoyed the tangled web the Kim family wove around the Park family. I almost felt like you were supposed to feel more sadness and empathy for the Kim family. I can't say that I did feel that emotion but I felt I understood why they did the things they did. I enjoyed the story line within quite a bit more than the main. Overall I wasn't blown away but I think it was written, acted and directed extremely well. I'd like to see more from this director. His shots were impressive.

Engaging, Twists And Turns
10 May 2020
This movie was a delight of underhanded twists and a bit of horror mixed in. The story is sensual and hypnotic. Watching the way each character changes over time is mesmerizing. The backdrops are eye catching and appear to be well thought out as opposed to an after thought. I was surprised just how much I liked this movie. It didn't feel long or drawn out. Just long enough to tell you the entire story. Highly recommend.

A Positive Movie Surrounding Abortion
10 May 2020
There aren't enough movies that show the positivity of such a painful subject. This movie made me laugh out loud more than once. I loved the matter-of-fact way the subject was introduced and the follow through within the movie. It felt real without being preachy. I can't say enough good things about this movie.

Bright, Fun, Twisted Horror - Sort Of
10 May 2020
I enjoyed this movie. It was weird and brightly colored. So different from most horrors set in a dark scene where jump scares are heavily relied on. The horror in this movie came from the disconnect between the characters and their descent into a madness and sadness they couldn't fully comprehend. It wasn't overly gory and if I'm completely honest the ending made me laugh out loud at it's ridiculousness but I still really enjoyed this movie. It was a different type of horror and I'd like to see more like it.

I Thought I'd Get So Much Out Of This - Only Got A Headache
10 May 2020
I thought, as a person with major depressive disorder, I'd relate to this movie on a deeply emotional level. The choice to shake the camera throughout the ENTIRE film made it impossible for me to sink into the story line and forget I was watching a movie. The ending was extremely powerful but I couldn't enjoy the movie for what it was meant to be because of the constant movement and broken connection between scenes.

A Bit Slow, Enjoyable, Uncomfortable, Enticing
10 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
*** Some mild and one major spoiler ahead*** Watching the mental demise of the main character is saddening and mentally challenging. I found it fascinating to watch how she coped and how her husband slowly tore her down without her knowledge. The entire film is uncomfortable to watch. The easiest part is the removal of the objects that she has ingested - which I think was meant to be cringe-worthy. ***Major Spoiler*** I was impressed to see a movie that ended on a positive abortion scene.

Boring, Pretentious, Lacked fluidity, Ridiculous, Stuffy
10 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I wanted so badly to like this! ! I love dance and I've become recently fond of artsy horror. I figured this was exactly what I was looking for. The scenes dragged and felt disconnected. The story line was exhausting and hard to believe. The minimal amount of "horror" was ridiculous and over the top. There was no thrill or anticipation. I was disappointed in too many ways to count. Tilda Swinton is a gem regardless of the lack of anything else this movie brought. I love Dakota Johnson and cannot fault her acting in this pointless roll. Anyone who loved this is entitled to their opinion but I'd be hard pressed to find anything positively relatable in their reviews.
