The Good Doctor: Goodbye (2024)
So terrible, it's on brand
Honestly, I kinda wish I had any feelings about this, but I actually don't anymore... It's very, very much David Shore.
I have many times thought about how much better this show would be, had they not killed Melendez.
This episode brings it to a new level.
Having Claire, in room 5 of all rooms, tell Kalou she loves him... Way to dishonor Melendez. I'm all for Claire getting a happy ending. But NOT like this. Don't reuse that, that's cheep. It's not original for a hospital show as it is, but the same character twice?
Also, I would have preferred if she'd met someone on Guatemala. Kalou is such a cheap way out. They weren't that great in season 1 and I could see them be friends now, without it being weird.
But this out of thin air feels like a grab at something to just give her someone we know. Also, like a consolation prize, given she and Melendez never got to figure it out.
Also, hasn't this girl been through enough? The way her mom treated her, then her mom dying, Melendez dying, her father showing up, then also he's not there anymore... Now she's loosing an arm, therefore her ability to be a surgeon? Come on, they really couldn't cut her a break?
Not to mention, why is Kalou on her case? Since people knew, at least Lim was very clear about it, it should have been "you're too close to this" and end of story! Well, they all are. But Lim's approach to try and save her arm seems like what Claire would do. See the whole patient.
This all feels wrong on so many levels.
It's sadly on brand, by know.
This show had about 3 or 4 great seasons, before it sent downhill fast.
Nothing much left of what I loved about it, sadly.
As for the other characters, Park and Morgan make sense, that was good enough.
Glassman's tumor being back is just something I am tired of by know, this is just recycled from season 1. So much...
Lea is... She's around. Used to like her, than she annoyed me for a few seasons, now she's just there.
Glad Shaun came around on Charlie in the end! Everything else would have been just wrong on many more levels.
Dom also found his place, thankfully.
Jordan is happy, as she should be. Girl really got enough to deal with on the few seasons she was on.
Somehow Andrews wasn't even mentioned, which is wrong on so many levels, too. They could have made an effort to at least mention the characters that aren't around: Andrews, Melendez, Wolke. Just as a nice way of saying that we're a part of that.
I do like the idea of the foundation. And I can see Shaun and Claire working together on it quite well.

What happened to the show I once loved
Seriously, the first few seasons, I really loved. It was about interesting cases, had characters I could genuinely care for and it was funny!
And then they just went downhill.
Killing of Melendez, which was followed by Antonia leaving took my favorite characters out of the show. The storylines just weren't as interesting, either.
Shaun was already getting worse storylines (sorry, whole yeah the body contact is sure an issue, I did not need to know as much as season 3 focused around it!).
We have previously seen him being stubborn and not a good teacher to others, and we're right back at that. Like he has not learned at all. Which is not consistent with his character. I kinda feel bad for not liking him anymore and just being annoyed, because I get they are going for a realistic approach. But it's the same over and over. And he definitely learned in the past, not saying as terrible things to patients, discussing treatment with the team first, there were many things he did wrong in season 1 and 2 that he learned from. Seems he also forgot about that, since he seems to think he never made any mistakes.
Lea thinking she's a bad mom, something else we have seen before, habe we not?
Only reason I am watching this is honestly because I saw that Antonia Thomas is back for the finale.
Just sucks Nick won't be, but that's a different story, I guess.
The only thing I enjoyed about this episode is the new Charly character! She seems fun and I for one (I assume most others are tired of it) enjoyed a bunch of Taylor Swift references! And Bejeweled playing in this episode.
Much like Shaun when he first got there, she's challenging things (like re-arring equipmen).
Maybe this character I can like for the nest fee episodes. I'm looking forward to her and Claire meeting, because we all know Claire was always great with Shaun.

Entertaining and an important massage
First of, i didn't get bored for entire 90 minutes of this movie.
You can argue it's not really deep and the massage of this movie is clear as day.
But it's a kids movie!
I will say, I'm 26 and i mostly watched it because i heard that Taylor Swift and Zac Efron were doing the voices for this.
Hearing it also deals with the environment i was sold. And pleasantly surprised by the comedic moments. Some serious laughing out loud moments, and the animation was great! The musical numbers, i thought were okay. Some were quite catchy others not so much. I wish they had given Audry ateast a few lines of singing, but that was my 'biggest' disappointed. Overall i love how the movie is so clear about it's massage, to be patient and to fight for change and for the environment. As someone who cares deeply, i love that this massage is transported to kids. It's important. Of course, you could expand on that and go deeper but in the end it's 90 minutes of comedy with a massage and I'm not sure every kid would love it if this was a 120 minutes movie and get the point if it was hidden. Sometimes, it's a good thing to be unapologetically open about what you're trying to say.
Side note: apparently there's a book or something, i have never heard of so i can't compare.

PERFECTION
It's a really beautiful ending for all the characters, the perfect line between having space fur the to move in and answering open questions. Could not be happier with this ending
