Boring, slow, terrible acting
21 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Acting is terrible, no pathos , i resisted 30 minutes. The plot is unbearably slow. I was drawn by the highest rate after spending long time to select a movie for the night i prime video list. I dont think the average rate (8.6 when i started it) is genuine Indeed there weere only 34 ratings. I think this movie is very difficult to see it until the ends, but of course one can try and see with his/her own eys. To me it looked pointless. The only one remarkable part is just a phrase when the actor says in the end that the "Power belongs to the people"l If this was the meaning of the movie, looks a good scope, but as movie itself will make you waste time if you are able to see it completely.

I was going to give higher rate but...
27 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I definetely enjoyed this movie for 2 reasons: from a cinematographic point of view, as a "movie", i can say i liked it and it never, really never bored me 1 second. I was entertained for 2 hours and a half and i was even sorry when it was ended. Of course this is because due, also, (second reason) to the fact that it depicted a True Story of one of the most powerful families in the words inside the fashion industry: i was curious to see the saga of Gucci translated in a movie. It worked fine for me.

There was something that did not convince me, though: the way that the actors acted looked a bit too forced to me. In my honest opinion, this happened because there were americans or foreign actors playing italian characters (real people in life, of course). I had the impression that both the characters of Aldo Gucci (Al Pacino), Rodolfo and Paolo Gucci were a bit "forced" , falsed and taken to the extreme in their attiude. They did not look "natural" to me. It looked to me like i was seeing a teathrical representation of an historical drama by Shakespeare.

Once i read that the real Patrizia Gucci (not Patrizia Reggiani, the real Patrizia Gucci, son of Paolo), said that the film was faked, not correspondent to the real life and facts of Gucci family, and her father was wrongly depicted as an Idiot, i felt that my impression was true.

For this point and the one mentioned before, i preferred to give only a 6. And not a 9 as i wanted.

Nice but some doubts about the end of this movie
10 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed this film, apart from some doubts about the end. It seems to me quite unlikely and forced. Unless you wanted the protagonist to become an indestructible superman similar to Liam Neeson in Taken. Apart from that, the plot is engaging, convincing and the pace is smooth enough to never bore me. For me it deserves an 8. In short, everything ok except the conclusion, even if it was cool as well to watch it due to the pathos and the final idea (escaping the prison with swapping the cloths with the Guardian). For the rest, an excellent description of the slums of the foreign Mafia in New York, of the corruption and of the bad business that often, unfortunately, tarnish the police.

The message is precious
7 October 2021
I saw this movie once and i did not like it. But i missed one point, last time: this movie, even if from an acting point of view is not excellent in some parts, has a clear scope that is breaking the prejudices among different cultures by establishing the rule, often forgotten, that bad and good are in all sides, regardless religions or others.

In this case, the love between a muslim / north african woman and a western man is the key to make us understand that the common sense, the natural love and the affection between two individuals belonging to such different cultures, wins over any kind of stereotypes.

The simplicity that wins
18 October 2020
There is a certain simplicity and naive attitude in this movie but this was its strength, in my opinion. Doing the simple things in a good manner it is the recipe for success. I love the close-ups that show the dramatic expressions and focus on the characters (typical of movies from end of 60s and 70s). If we add a certain irony and drama to this film, it makes it a pleasant and must-see one to watch and to add in the spaghetti-western bucket list. Well done.

I can't believe I really watched this movie all
5 October 2020
Please don't waste your time : acting is terrible; the plot is hazardous; there is no rhythm and the scenes are kinda disconnected. Reading " thriller" as category makes me laugh: I was leaving the movie after 30 minutes, and I made the big mistake to watch it all , lol.

Great movie with a chilling message to the humans
5 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I gave an high rate, first, because I loved the movie itselft for how it has been conceived. The idea is great, with the fast camera action, sudden change of scenes that help to keep the rhythm of the narration high and gripping (i was never bored one second). But mainly what is great in this movie is the message itself that brings in: who really give powers to the social networks? And to the most creepy ones part of the deep web which can endanger our lives? Who is the main responsible, in the end? But of course. Oursevelves as users and us public. The end of the movie gives a good message: we can still act on time if we are able to understand the subtle line that distinguish "fun" with "fall into a unhealthy trap" that those online social games put: maybe the key is to be able to act on time. We simply have to learn how to "handle with care" social network and online interactive games. Once the game is ended and its life too, at the end of the movie, i had a double feeling: happy to know this but sad to realized that another horrible scenario like this will surely reborn soon unless we change our attitude towards them. We can make it.

Watched because of good rating but...
11 September 2020
The high rating at the time of writing this review (7.1 average) of this listing will remain one of the biggest mystery in the story of Imdb website: bad acting and lack of real congruence of the plot makes it one of the worst movies i have ever seen. I decided to watch it as it is in Prime Video subscriptions and because as said of the high rating. I still can't believe this. I give 2 and not 1 just because at least there is an intrisinc positive message. But honestly, from a cinematographic point of view, it has been a real challenge watching it until the end :D

It's ok to watch
8 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Horror films are not my favorite ones. I watched this movie as in prime video it is (erroneously) categorized as "suspense" but iMho this is a super natural suspense-horror one, and not a simple "suspense-thriller". Basically, the story is about an alien race that is trying to replace every human being with a their own doubles. The end of film unveils the mystery behind the main character :Already doubled and replaced, she is was affected by general state of confusion in her mind after a sever car accident and she wasn't aware to be the double. In the end, the final brings a bit of suspense That makes this movie little more interesting. Not my genre but i enjoyed a bit.

The Boat (2018)

All good apart the end
5 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The movie itself would have been a good one and got even better rating if not for the end. Well, the plot develops well. There is a mystery unresolved about whom or what is keeping company to the protagonist (the only human being acting in the film). The "presence" aboard seems to test the resistance of the actor and his capability of escaping from a lot of deadly situations. He always makes it, saving his own life. So that part is not bad as there is suspense and you keep craving to know what the hell happens inside the boat. But...you will remain disappointed by the final: you won't know whom/what was that wanted to kill him, after the fisherman finally saves his life once for all when the boat takes the man to his place. Resuming: all good but the end definitely will leave you with a bitter taste in your mouth. it is ok to leave whom is watching to movie to imagine something. But this is too much.

The desperation of a lonely man
28 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
A cheeky, cynical and wealthy middle aged man has everything many men want: a beautiful woman and an important job as civil engineer but chooses his freedom and separates from his wife after all-times fighting with her. However, he will understand that the price of freedom is high and the dark sides he will have to face convinced him to go back to his wife who eventually found her new love ( a mature and more reliable man) and rejects him for good. What he is looming for the protagonist is a life in loneliness. The movie background is the divorce law that was approved in that years and this was reported in the last scene of the movie when the facts happened: he smiles, while driving, showing his happiness after knowing the news. I enjoyed this movie and I recommend it as it tells a lot about marriage relationships and its dynamics.

Family tragedy which is important to make it a movie
4 May 2020
Unfortunately , one of the many family tragedies that happen in our society nowadays , I have given a high rating because I believe it's important to make it a movie and tell the story to the world. Sad to say but situations like this one are very common everywhere and must not be forgotten. From a filming quality point of view, the movie it's not bad, imho. You won't be bored. (Or course don't expect high class acting, but in the end also the actors did their job)

All about guns, shots, bad acting
2 May 2020
One of the worst movies I have ever seen. Honestly. Ok, there is action. There is a simple plot that could have worked, but the performance is bad on all sides. I would not recommend it.

Good movie

I enjoyed the movie in general: Plot is convincing. Acting is good especially the 2 main characters. Final is the best part. You will not be bored as there aren't moments in which the rhythm slow down. I recommend it.

Terrible acting
14 April 2020
The start of the movie was ok and I decided to go on after checking it in the beginning: the story was promising but then after a while I realized the plot was not developing well due to terrible acting ( apart few exceptions) and not so good direction. If you put in the bucket a lack Of empathy and a general sense of "nonsense" about some of the scenes development, you feel a lot of things are not working in this film. I usually don't mind to see those things of thrillers with suspense but this is one of the worst I ever seen.

Excellent psychological description of the characters
1 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I do not really fathom some of the so low-rate review to this movie. I really enjoyed it, although its apparent "slow" rhythm and narration, I think it is a great psychological mystery thriller. I never felt bored one second as it draw my attention in any scene. The main character of the film, Chloe, and her psychological status is treated in an excellent way. You can understand her situation: a 20 years old girl coming from a lost and denied serene childhood, due to the big trauma of the loss of her father, and the act of neglecting of the mother who left her apart going after dating with few guys. The small child left alone and forgotten by the mother, (not to blame the mother though, as we will see later) often spends time on her own and even eyewitnesses a murder that upset her all the rest of the life until she finds someone who believe in her (Josh) when all the other characters seems considering her a crazy delusional person. (she is kept under control by the police for suspected drugs dependency because of her apparently mental behavior (the police threatens her to put her under "mental arrest"). she indeed has periodic visions that take her out in the night in a mental state of confusion and total disconnection from the reality. As said, in the end, when her beliefs were proved right, and the man she felt was the killer will be arrested, she and her mother start to regain a mutual trust (the mother though, is depicted in trying to regain her love and trust, but she still does not believe in her, and for this reasons, Chloe keeps taking distance from her) along with her friend (and maybe future boyfriend) Josh that, feeling something for the girl, also, he was the only one who felt she was right. He has an unconditioned faith in her. The film ends with a feeling that what she lacked for, love and trust, will finally accompanied her along her new life. Nothing more right the title "wild flower, a beautiful thing like a flower, that the cruel reality of the life has made "wild".

Mr Night hits his target
26 September 2015
first target hit ç I really love the idea of the found footage format. Second hit, the story, that i think is well planned. It is quite gripping and never bores one minute only. The final is really cool and i really enjoyed it. I really recommend it to anyone who loves the genre. I prefer this one than "The village" or previous movies from the same director, as it uses this original cut, helped by 2 young good actors, that play really a good part in the footage. Also the 2 elderly have done well, but what is cool is the whole idea and concept of this film. The lack of music, due to the genre ("found footage story") does not affect at all the general outcome, and even without music, thanks to the chilling scenario and background where it is filmed (an isolated farm in the countryside during winter, is perfect. You will love the film, money spent without regret.

Outstanding
15 January 2013
That movie is really cool.

It seems Tarantino has the intention to tell the sad/bad story in his way of the slavery in southeast USA : I think he succeed because i could not miss a scene and a speech in the story. It's gripping He does it in his way but i loved it. Also i wonder if the movie mirror the real social schemes and relationship between black and whites before the American civil war I have been also impressed by the figure who Samuel Jackson plays. The black that become strictly connected to the master. How much in that times the social schemes drove the people's mind. Also tells the story of the internal conflicts and contrasts between blacks themselves The title also plays his important part. I thinks that he wants to say that when the blacks have been have given the freedom it could have taken big changes in the society with all the troubles and dangers the freedom involved but it was a necessary and important human step in the history. This movie helps not only to learn the past America but also the present? Maybe? Everywhere in the western world the blacks have been misused mistreated displaced beaten and abused oftheirs lives. That explain a lot their social disease now. A really nice movie, a strong look at the errors of the pasts, in order to figure out some feature the actual world. Bad or good they are, is the world we are living . There is some italy inside. A famous Italian actor Franco Nero plays the part of a man who bets on mandingo fights . He spoke in Italian. Also, Tarantino gives space to the German language, to make understands that the culture can be a prerogative of a slaved person, also. And some reference to French culture as well..etc..culture, languages, all of this breaks barriers. And is very powerful.

I would add that the level of the actors is totally amazing.
